crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
The date of the town festival! Doc demonstrates the plan to push the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour to Marty via a model. Clara interrupts, and she and Doc do some flirting over her "broken" telescope.
-OD: Something COULD have been wrong with it.-
Eh. I prefer the "I want to flirt with him, I'll pretend the telescope is broken" explanation. Doc and Marty end up attending the town festival. Doc and Clara fall even deeper in love, but the mood is almost shattered by Buford shooting Doc. Marty manages to save his friend via frisbee pie plate, but is goaded into dueling Buford himself Monday morning. Seamus lectures Marty, invoking the name of his own brother, Martin, who got himself killed in Virginia City. Doc, in the meanwhile, takes Clara home and has his first kiss with her.

-RPD: *pokes me* Hey! Eureka needs attention too!-
*jumps* Why couldn't you be around earlier in the summer? And yes, I know, but I got to writing a couple more Drabbles88.
-VD2: *blinku* Really? New ones already?-
*shrug* I was inspired. And to my shock, they're both under 500 -- I could have SWORN I'd go over with the second one. Hooray for overestimating, I guess.
-TD: When do we see them?-
Well, I've prewritten most of the Sims 2 update, so let's see that first.

Since it’s a BTTF-themed week, I decided to host a party at the Strangetown Browns. We started off the day with Doc finishing up a CleanBot and Lorraine burning her breakfast.

After she ate and got cleaned up, I decided to try something. There’s a certain hairstyle (I think it’s Miss DellaRosa’s) that came with OFB that I think would fit pretty well on 1985 Lorraine. Took me a minute to get used to it (this Lorraine has a rather heavy face), but I think it fits better than her old straight look. At least this one has some curls.

Doc happily completed a HydroBot as well -- getting closer and closer to that Silver badge!

Emmett, George, and Eileen all eventually woke up and took turns having breakfast and such. George also completed a toy robot. His eyes are way too slitty in this incarnation -- you can barely see his pupils when he gets like this!

Emmett and Eileen then played chess together, Emmett telling Eileen all about the crime rates in Hell Valley.

Morning came, and with it, domestic chores -- Doc unclogged a toilet while the McFly parents finished making beds.

Then, promptly at 8, Doc called up the Clayton-Lloyds and Marty and invited them on over.

Doc and Marty promptly got into the swing of things with some dirty jokes. Which managed to distract them a bit from Lorraine gossiping to Clara about her own son! Shame on you, Lorraine!
-M: I’d rather have gossip than swooning.-

Emmett and Josie caught each others eye, and briefly hung out, talking about wizard’s hats. Mystie wondered WTF was going on at her feet.

Things didn’t go quite so well in regular chat. “Ugh, Emmett! Who wants to remember what a jail cell Hell Valley was?”

Meanwhile, Mysteria tries to ignore the fact that Lorraine’s washing dishes in the sink while she’s on the can. (Dishwasher’s broken) And Doc and Marty have a game of rock-paper-scissors, with Marty doing a stupid victory dance when he wins.

The two regular couples get romantic for a moment (luckily without any teenager embarrassment), then proceed to tell their friends dirty jokes. Josie, in the meantime, is sharing memories of eating real food with Emmett.

Josie and Emmett prove they’re made for each other by trying to use the bathroom at the same time. Gypsy comes in and interrupts the “argument” by swooning over Emmett. Nice sentiment, but you’ve already got him in another neighborhood.

Emmett, resigned to holding it a bit longer, talks to Gypsy about robots.

By this time, Mystie and George have formed a mini-band. The other girls go out to tip, finally letting Emmett pee.

Then he and Josie hit the chess board, Gypsy coming over to watch and offer commentary.

Marty, by this time, has left the rest of the party to hit the pool and go hottubbing. Eileen joins him in the last minutes for the latter.

The party ended as a success -- a Roof-Raiser, with Emmett getting to know his future bride quite well. If only I’d been able to keep better track of Marty so they could meet as well. Next time. Feeling good (and Doc freshly energized -- he was tired), the Emmett Browns headed off to work.

While the parents busied themselves, I saw Eileen had no body points -- into the pool with thee, wench!

Nice belly-flop. She swam around until she got a call from Talin, the cute boy she met before. Then she RAN to the phone. :p Typical teenage girl.
George fixed the dishwasher and made robots while Lorraine painted. She sold her first masterpiece today -- go Lorraine!

Emmett and Doc arrived home within an hour of each other. Emmett still has his same job, but Doc was promoted to Lab Assistant! This despite getting a bad chance card and losing a day’s pay over a boring book. He’s now at the top of the Elder track!

-VD: Boring book?-
Some time travelers were altering history on an island -- just not in an interesting way.
-VD: . . . Screw the book, let's have their secret.-
LOL, knew you'd say that. Anyway, with regular robot "sales" and the money trees, him losing a day's pay is a mere pittance.
Suppers were had, robots were built, and naps were taken. Emmett and Eileen also became friends, bringing Eileen up into the platinum. I gotta say, Family Sims have a lot in common with Popularity Sims sometimes, what with the wants to make friends and best friends.

Lorraine also chatted up Emmett, as she wants to make friends with him too. Didn't quite get there, but we're close.

We ended the day with Doc and Emmett pursuing Science!

And yes, no Eureka pics -- however, since I plan on playing the Parkers tomorrow, you should see a new building project then.
-RPD: Good. I'd be derelict in my duty as a muse otherwise.-
I'm still trying to figure out how you can poke me when you're noncoporeal.
-RPD: Coporeality isn't an issue with poking -- I can just stick my finger through your skin. *demonstrates*-
Eek! Stoppit!
-D: *thoughtful* Maybe we should stick our hands in ice water before WE poke her. . . .-

And now, the drabbles, after a quick look-over:

As stated in the cut, Prompt 3 has a few mild "Boy Genius" spoilers -- however, they're no worse than what I happen to state in the journal anyway. For example, if you've read anytime recently, you already know Holly hooks up with Maxim. It also reveals something coming up in the sequel, but again, if you read the LJ, you know about this somewhat already. Nothing really big, I promise.

3. Ends
Emmett approached the spot, a nervous smile on his face. “Hi. I know I haven’t visited you in a while, but -- but I’ve been really busy. I’ve only just gotten back.” He shook his head. “It’s odd. Everyone treats me so differently now. I’ve tried to keep the news of my being a Heterodyne and a Wulfenbach a secret, but -- well, people talk. I’m sure I didn’t have a chance after shooting my mouth off in Sturmhalten. Though it is nice to be treated with respect for once.
“I’m keeping busy. I’ve gone into show business, can you believe it? I’m a traveling electrician! You should see the setup I have! Tesla coils, static electricity generators, lightning generators. . . . I don’t know if he ever told you what it’s like, being able to manipulate the elements like this, but it’s amazing! I feel like I can do anything!” He sighed. “I know you only wanted the best for me, but -- I wouldn’t trade being able to invent for anything. Not after I’ve seen what I can do.
“Marty and Holly are still with me -- Emily’s safe with her new boyfriend, don’t you worry. Life on the road with us just got too adventurous for her. Though I don’t see how it’ll be any less adventurous with Ardsley. . . . Holly’s got a boyfriend too, named Maxim. He’s a Jaeger, believe it or not. Somehow, they make it work. And Marty recently met up with a girl named Jennifer -- she’s the beautiful daughter of our latest villain. Don’t worry, though, she’s not evil. The fact that I’m here talking to you attests to that.” Emmett beamed. “And speaking of significant others -- I’ve got a girlfriend! An actual girlfriend! Her name’s Clara, and she’s the most wonderful girl in the world. She likes Jules Verne! She’s even saved my life a few times while we were on the road.” The smile faded. “I want to marry her, but we haven’t found anyone to perform the ceremony yet. She’s a construct, you see. I don’t care, I love her anyway, but -- everyone else cares. It’s even worse for Holly and Maxim-- at least Clara looks something like a normal person. There’s very few ways you can disguise a Jaeger.” He shook his head, then smiled again. “We don’t care all that much, though. We’re all together, and that’s the important thing. We’re a family. A real family.”
He felt a touch on his arm. “Emmett, they’re closing,” Clara said softly.
Emmett nodded and knelt down. His fingers slowly traced the inscription on the tombstone -- Sarah Wulfenbach Von Braun, born July 21st, 1843, died February 16th, 1885. Beloved Mother, Sister, and Friend. He closed his eyes and tried to blink back the tears. “I love you, Mother. I hope I’ve made you proud.” Then, linking arms with Clara, he left the cemetery.

-TD: *sniff sniff*-
-VDM: *hugs* Yeah, I know.-
I've been wanting to do this for a while -- it occurred to me today that it might make a good drabbles88. As you probably guessed, this takes place after both sequels -- probably sometime in late 1886. Jennifer's introduction is the basis for Boy Genius 2: Back To Weird Science. Her father isn't the nicest guy in this world.
-VDM: *nodnod* Yeah, I know.-
-H: *hugs* Poor Emmett. We did visit my mother's grave too, right?-
Yeah, of course. Just off-camera.
-E: So I do end up with Wooster?-
I'm seriously considering it, yes. :p Good grief, I hope I got his name right. For some odd reason, he's not on the cast lists.

And now, drabble 76:

76. Red
Doc rose from his bed as the guard opened the door. Clara entered, looking lovely as always. He smirked as he noted her teal dress. “We rather clash today, don’t we?” he said, motioning to his green scrubs.
“We do, yes,” Clara nodded, trying to smile. “How are you today, Emmett?”
“All right.” And he was -- he felt more rational than he had in a while. “How are you and the boys?”
“We’re managing,” Clara said. “Jules and Verne miss you. They keep asking me when Papa’s coming home.” She looked from him to the guard and back. “When are you coming home? Do they know yet?”
Doc’s smirk dropped. “Not yet. Though the doctors tell me I’m doing much better lately. And they’ve recently discovered I’m a good candidate for hypnosis, so they’re going to add that to my therapy.”
“I see. That’s good then.” Clara looked at him for a moment, then sighed. “I don’t like you with short hair.”
“Me either,” Doc admitted, running his fingers through the buzz cut they had given him on his arrival. “It took forever for me to get used to the feeling of air on my neck. I don’t think I’ve had it this short since I was seven or eight.”
Clara shook her head. “It doesn’t look right on you.” She looked like she wanted to touch him for a moment, but stopped herself. Doc felt a pang -- he so longed to hold her again, to stroke her hair, to kiss her. . . .
Suddenly, another patient appeared, giggling madly. Doc recognized him as Manny, a childlike man who often imagined himself as the next Santa Claus. He had a deck of cards today -- Manny never went anywhere without something he could give away. “Here’s yours, and yours, and yours,” he said, handing them out.
“Thank you Manny,” the guard said, gently taking the man by the elbow. Two doctors appeared, having been following him. “Now go on back with your ‘elves.’” Doc smiled and looked at his card.
He froze. Manny had given him the ace of hearts. A red card. Red, like Santa’s costume. Red like the warning lights on police cars.
Red like Marty’s blood on the railroad tracks.
He was only dimly aware of the fact that he was screaming, that he’d dropped to the floor in the fetal position. All he could see in his mind was that day long ago -- the DeLorean parts scattered around, the police saying Marty never had a chance, and the red, the red blood everywhere. . . . I killed him, OH GOD I KILLED HIM. . . .
Clara had him, saying something about fixing the time train, going back to stop this, but it was no use. He couldn’t hear her anymore. He wasn’t even aware of the doctors sedating him. All he was aware of was the imagined screams of his best friend as he was run over by a freight train --
And the red everywhere.

-Docs: *jaws hanging open*-
Yeah, uh -- I got to thinking about what if Marty DIDN'T get out in time --
-VD2: You are forbidden from writing Insane!Us EVER-FREAKING-AGAIN.-
Hey, if you think it's creepy now, try thinking up the idea when you're trying to get to sleep!
-M: *white* Jesus Christ, Vic, it was a close enough call in the movie!-
-D: *hugs* Can we stop with the angst?-
Narbonic!Sparky!Marty should be the next idea in the rotation -- that's only very slightly angsty. I'm gonna try to make it comedic.
-VD2: *hugging VampMarty* THANK you. Great Scott. . . .-
-OD: *tentacles screeking and hugging VultureMarty* I -- I hate to ask, but -- why couldn't Clara use the time train before?-
Simple. When Doc snapped that day, he attacked the train. Flux capacitor got busted, as well as a few other parts. And with Doc in Southdale, Clara's had to fix them herself. It's just slow going.
-OD: *shudder* Oh.-

-DW: Moving on as rapidly as I can, I see you've decided on this month's [livejournal.com profile] backtothefanfic challenge idea.-
Yup -- it involves school, so let's bring on the "Browns meet Holly" story. And this time, I've got at least a working title -- "Strange Bedfellows."
-OD: Play on the fact Holly's an occulist while I'm a scientist?-
Yup. Can't remember the exact saying I got it from, though. *shrug*
-VD: *pokes* Don't forget "V.D." revisions.-
Don't worry, I'm getting to them right now. I've also started my organization project -- lookit, got all the stories that need editing written down.
-D: *looks* "Dark Half?"-
Don't worry, it's just some minor retconning to include mentions of Holly.
-M: Oh, whew. After your little angstfest up there--
There WILL be more HAPPY drabbles88, I PROMISE.
