Getting Back Into The Swing of Things
Oct. 20th, 2006 11:35 pmMeaning, I typed something on "Boy Genius" today.
-TD: Finally!-
-VD: I hope you'll follow that up with more typing in general.-
I shall do my best. I'm still getting used to this new computer, though.
-OD: I'm sure you'll be comfortable with it sooner rather than later. You certainly seem to enjoy what it does with your Sims.-
-RPD: She does, she does. Though she seems rather stunned by it all. . . .-
Well, I haven't played the game without it freezing half the time for a while now! It's nice! And the graphics are quite nice -- not quite as sharp as with the old Radeon, but definitely up there. :)
-D: So who got the honor of your presence in Sims today?-
Actually, I was skipping around a little. . . .
Though my main focus was on Hill Valley. I decided to play Joe Statler -- if anyone could help me see if community lots were okay, he could. After giving him some lunch and stuff, I sent him off to work. His first customer of the day was none other than George McFly. "Yeah, I'd like to see a sports car -- my wife says I'm having a mid-life crisis, but I just think it would be nice to have a sportier car. . . ."

However, trying to help George made it so he couldn't help another customer -- and that customer turned out to be the reporter. Greaaat. I left the reporter to his own devices while Joe helped Strickland find a Smoogo.

He promptly tried to get into Joe's private quarters, threw a hissy fit when he found the door locked, then went over and lectured Joe! Ass! He also gave a bad review, which meant George and Strickland were really the only customers for the day.

George ended up not buying the sports car, and also rejected Joe's attempts to sell him a pickup truck. Probably a good thing though -- I took out my hack that lets playable characters immediately dump the items they get while shopping as noncontrollables, and I don't know if George could have afforded either item anyway.

Strickland, however, turned out to be a major boon for Joe. Not only did he accept all sales socials, he also bought two Smoogos! Not much of a profit for Joe, but hey, better than nothing.

Since the store wasn't doing well, I let Joe close up a bit early and head home. He amused himself on his guitar for a while.

Then I decided to do something Pets-related. Joe already has an aquarium, but I decided he should have another pet too. So I bought him a birdcage, then had him chose a bird. Everyone, meet Astronom, the what looks to be a hawk-like bird.

Joe took some time to play with Astronom after acquiring him -- looks like Astronom is going to eat his finger in one of those shots, huh?

Joe then left Astronom alone and looked for employees. Unfortunately, the townies of Hill Valley seem better versed in Robotics than Sales. I had Joe hit the mirror instead to earn a bit of Charisma. I felt bad leaving Astronom in his cage though -- poor bugger doesn't have any toys.

As night fell, Joe decided to call up Sally Baines for a chat -- I'm still contemplating getting them together in the future.

Then there was a brief lesson in teaching Astronom how to talk before Joe had to go to bed.

He refilled Astronom's food dish first -- Astronom loves his food.

I saved as Joe slept. One odd thing to mention before we leave him and his new parrot/hawk behind -- I apparently gave Joe both a trash compactor and a trash can. I have no idea why. *scratches head*

I popped by the Strickland lot briefly to sell off the Smoogos he bought. Or, actually, to sell one -- I figured he could keep the other one. I mean, why not? It got a new paint job before I left, though.
-RPD: All well and good, but what about Eureka?-
I went and visited Eureka after that. Made a couple of pet-only families for later merging with regular families -- I wanted to play around with the fur-layering feature. It's actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. So, anyway, here are the pets:
Aurthor -- a stray mongrel with a collar. Name comes from JACK comic. His stats are in a perfect V -- Genius, Midlevel Hyper/Lazy, Friendly, Midlevel Agressive/Cowardly, Pigpen.

Yolen and Rogena -- stray sibling cats (brother and sister). Names come from book authors I saw on my nearby bookshelf. Yolen is a genius, midlevel hyper/lazy, independent, agressive, finicky cat. Rogena is more balanced, though I can't recall her exact personality. I'm pretty sure she's Lazy and a Pigpen.

I also placed the included pet park into Eureka -- it's a pretty nice place. And I got a picture of this very cute and funny sign:

:p
Then I took a brief detour to Strangetown and made my first specific pet -- the all-black Dinah Wonderland, Alice's cat. She's a Genius, Lazy, Friendly, Midlevel Agressive/Cowardly, Midlevel Pigpen/Finicky (I think). She's already been merged with Wonderland/Tea Party. I look forward to playing that family again.

-RPD: Interesting. When do Einstein and Sigmund come into play?-
This weekend. Hopefully watching the Trilogy this weekend will really help me get a feel for Einstein. It's actually pretty hard to find pictures of him. Hmmm. . . .
-D: Liking Pets so far?-
Yeah, from what little I've played. I just hope my main hacks get updated again soon. Most of the MATY stuff was okay, but Squinge just got the game. . . .
-TD: I'm sure your game will soon be altered to your liking.-
I hope so. I like my games.
-DW: *finishes a plotbunny* Alice In Wonderland is still going strong.-
-VD2: We know. Some days I half-expect to see a HatterDoc hanging around here.-
Shhh! Don't summon him!
-VD: If he comes, he comes. You should KNOW that by now.-
Yes, but let's not give him any encouragement. I've got my hands full with you lot.
-RPD: *evilly* Too much of a good thing?-
Oh, shut it. I have to get back to writing.
