1955 -- Both Marty and Doc fans get to squee over the boys asleep in the opening credits. Doc is awakened by Howdy Doody (the horror) and promptly sets about documenting last night, unaware of Marty getting up behind him. Marty eventually gets his attention and scares the living daylights out of him, with no small help from his hoverboard. Doc initially refuses to believe Marty is actually there, but Marty manages to convince him with the help of his older self's letter. Reading it over, they discover that Doc is living as a blacksmith in 1885, having tried but failed to repair the DeLorean's destroyed time circuits with 1885 parts. He has buried the DeLorean in an abandoned mine so that Marty and Doc55 can dig it up and repair it. He also indicates he does NOT want Marty to come back for him -- he's happy where he is, and he fears any extra time travel will just cause more problems. Doc and Marty both choke up over the warm farewell to Marty at the end of the letter, then take a look at the map Doc85 enclosed. "We may have to blast."

-D: Let's put it to a vote. Who thinks that our trilogy self, while writing that letter, knew that, even as he warned him not to, Marty was probably going to come back anyway?-
*hands go up all over the room*
-VD: Wonder what might have happened had Marty not seen the tombstone?-
-M2: I think I WOULD have gone back to 1985 at first, just to be home for a bit. Then I'd go back and convince you to come home.-
-OD: Which means no Buford, but also no Clara.-
-VD2: And it seems to be that if you take the trilogy route with Victoria in anyway -- that is, if you bring Marty and Jennifer to the future -- you HAVE to meet Clara, as the other girls aren't available. I know my Josie isn't -- she's not even IN Hill Valley unless she's in the Hell Valley Southdale, correct?-
Yeah, that's about right. And Mystie works as a night janitor at the courthouse, so you'd probably miss out on her too.
-HD: So it all comes down to a psychiatric appointment.-
-D: Actually, would be easier if it didn't -- the whole reason Gypsy and I had such a tough time getting together was because I was her patient once. Dating a former patient is very frowned upon.-
Yeah, I know. If she hadn't developed a crush on you. . . .
-VD: Well, you can't always control who you fall in love with.-
Heh, got that straight. Just wish she'd consulted me first, would have given me a bit of time to change her profession.
Anyway, some updates:
Got a nice chunk written on "Marty In Wonderland" today, finally.
-HD: Hooray! Have a scone.-
Tanku. I'm working on the "editing" stories right now, though I might switch to writing on "Boy Genius."
-TD: Hey, whatever gets things done. I think Vrin would like your version of events a hell of a lot better.-
We'll have to see what happens on Wednesday. Also catch up with actual pen-and-paper writing too.
-OD: Yes, you're falling a little behind.-
Blame it on malaise.
-D: At least you're taking steps to catch up.-
Doing my best.
-RPD: Anything happen with Eureka today?-
Didn't move anyone in -- but I did finish Clock Tower Square, so after Strangetown tomorrow I'll start on the actual storyline.
-RPD: Great!-
-DW: Does it look anything like the actual clock tower square?-
Sort of -- it's not totally canonical, of course, but I did my best to make it an interesting place:

The entire square. I went with a brick theme mostly, though of course the cinema is white. Roofing the "Essex" was a bitch too, let me tell you -- it wasn't until I found that little octogonal roof thing there that I was able to cover up that bit sticking out.

The outside park, with a pond, chessboards, barbeque area, and some swings.

The Left side of the square -- home of the bathrooms, a clothing store, a bookshop/coffee shop, and a small electronics store. I like the look of some of this new Atomica style. :)

The Right side of the square, with the grocery store (with a pet department) and the previously-seen movie theater.

The Courthouse itself -- the bottom section is a musical review with an attached bar and gaming room, the top section is a crafting practice room. And since Pets gave us a wall clock as well as wall-hanging gargoyles and new statues, I stuck those up there too. I think I'll probably replace that clock with a downloaded one eventually, though.
-DW: Not too shabby!-
Thanks. :) And now, back to work.
-VD2: Or pretending to, anyway.-
Hey, if I'm watching Alice In Wonderland on YouTube, it can actually count as research for "Marty In Wonderland."
-HD: She's got a point there. Clean cup, move down!-
