Updates For The Muses
Jan. 3rd, 2007 11:36 pmRPD, you get a short
revison_doc update from Jennifer. I've also changed the default userpic for
revison_doc to that picture of Doc and Gypsy cuddling.
-RPD: *incorporal at the moment* Heh, that's sweet. Though I noticed you still don't have a job for Jennifer after graduation.-
Well, I do, sort of. She'll probably become the DocBots employee.
-J: THE DocBots employee?-
*shrug* You have easy access to a robotery bench and no clear career plan, and with Gypsy in the family, I don't forsee a need for more than one.
-J: Good point. At least I'm sure I'll be well paid.-
Oh yeah, not a problem. :)
And for the rest of my boys, a drabbles88:
54. Home
Doc touched the clip to the nail at the top of the model courthouse. Electricity shot down the wires and into the car. Marty jumped back as the toy sparked and caught on fire. “Whoa!”
He and Doc watched as the now-flaming car drove off the edge of the table and toward the wastebasket – where Doc had unwisely chosen to throw some oily rags. Doc gasped in horror as they ignited, then ran for the fire extinguisher.
“You’re instilling me with a lot of confidence, Doc,” Marty remarked as Doc tried to get the device working.
“Don’t worry – I’ll take care of the lightning, you just--”
Doc stopped as he realized no water was coming out of the nozzle. “What – I thought I filled this last week. . . .”
“Uh, Doc, those flames are getting awfully close to the car,” Marty said, starting to get scared.
Doc shook the extinguisher desperately. “We might have to abandon the structure, Marty. Grab those blueprints for me, then get in the car and drive it out. I’ll follow in a moment.”
Marty obeyed, snatching up the blueprints and practically diving into the DeLorean. He put the car into gear and drove outside while Doc gathered up more blueprints and the camcorder. The scientist briefly thought of trying to get into the bathroom and fill up the extinguisher up there, but the flames rapidly climbing toward the roof disabused him of that notion. Doing his best to grab anything important, he ran out of the garage.
Marty and his future mother, Lorraine, were waiting for him. “What’s going on?” Lorraine asked, looking worried.
“Fire,” Doc said shortly. “Marty, go to the mansion and call the fire department. I’m going to make a second run before the fire gets any worse.”
“Got it, Doc.” Marty ran up to the mansion, Lorraine close behind. Doc jogged back into the garage. The fire was spreading rapidly – there were quite a number of flammable things inside his lab, unfortunately. Doc snatched up all he could carry and dashed back out, putting them next to the DeLorean. Thank God we got this out in time!
Marty returned, looking deeply concerned. “Fire department’s on its way, Doc.” He looked at the burning garage. “Um – I know you don’t want to know anything about the future, but we kinda met while you were living in there. . . .”
***
“This is where we’re gonna live??”
“Yup. My old family mansion. Considered selling it back in the 1960s, but because I’d already burned down the garage once. . . .”
“Sorry about that, Doc.”
“Don’t be sorry, Marty, this place is great!”
Doc chuckled at his sons’ enthusiasm. “Yes, the fire was mostly my fault anyway. If only I’d remembered to refill that extinguisher!”
“A mansion instead of a garage? I’d be happy you didn’t refill it, Doc.”
This is the result of a plot bunny that bit me a while ago -- what if Doc hadn't been able to put out the fire? Since this occurred in 1955, I figured he'd eventually rebuild the garage, but think twice about doing anything flammable either there or inside the house!
-D: *frown* I just wonder what it would do to the commerce on JFK Drive.-
Since this is a drabbles88, we can't go into detail. But yeah, how would Hill Valley be affected if the businesses on Doc's former land weren't built?
-VD: I hope not an economic recession -- I'd feel guilty.-
Yeah, really.
-VD2: Interesting idea. Got any others?-
A few, but nothing solid. I or DocWolf will probably let you know later.
And now, to work on my other stories. Got a nice chunk done on "Siblings" yesterday.
-TD: *grin* I noticed! At last, too.-
-DW: I also noticed you put two certain plotbunnies into their own document.-
Safekeeping -- they're the most plotted of the ideas that flit through my head. I didn't even realize I had that much of the Phoenix-Doc idea done. (Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a sucker for Super!Doc. . . .)
-OD: I suppose we can't complain. *tentacles nod and buzz*-
-HD: What about "Marty In Wonderland?"-
Oh, I can't forget that -- we're up to your scene!
-HD,MHG: *applause*-
Yay returning motivation, boo to slight hunger pangs. I'm off to write and reread some stuff about the Seasons EP. *drools*
-D: Is it really such a good idea to get yourself all worked up?-
I know, I know, my video card. *pokes it* But damn it, when it comes to Sims and expansion packs -- I'm gardening's bitch.
-VD: Now there's a phrase you don't hear often. . . .-
