Okay, Boys?
Jan. 14th, 2007 10:15 pmIf you see me heading toward the "staying up to four o'clock at night" marker again, feel free to sedate me or something.
-D: I'm starting to believe your claims that you're nocturnal.-
-VD: Well then, you really have to stop procrastinating so much.-
I know, I know. But we all know that's never going to happen.
-Muses: *reluctantly nodnod*-
-TD: Still, it would make sense for you to at least try to get a little more done.-
*points to open "Time Mix-Up" journal*
-D: Besides the written journals, though we applaud you for your work on those lately. The afternoon shift seems to agree with your writing temperament.-
Heh, yeah. I'm trying to keep it to about a page to a page and a half a day with that.
-OD: *tentacles chatter* Admirable goal. Although what happens once you finish up your current stories?-
Have to start anew, I suppose. Though I do want to start the "Boy Genius" rewrites. Starting to get there with rewriting Chapter 9, at least.
-TD: All right!-
-VD2: How about that new drabbles88?-
Here you are:
7. Days
“Running away, are we?”
Doc looked up. “You lost again?”
Marty blushed as he loaded up the game for the fifth time. “I’m just stuck at this one section. . . .”
“Marty, you’ve been playing for days now on ‘easy.’ I shouldn’t think this game would be that hard to beat!” Doc got up and stood behind Marty as his friend went back to his last save point. “I saw you on the earlier levels, you were just speeding right through most of them. And really, you don’t seem to have too much trouble with this level either, until you get to the boss. What is it about the Mad Hatter that makes you unable to beat him?”
Marty paused, then lowered his head. “I’m having those dreams again.”
“Pardon?”
“The Wonderland dreams. Remember how I started dreaming that I was Alice back when my English class read the books? They’ve started up again, only now they’re related to the game. And--” He blushed again, looking very embarrassed.
“. . .Marty, he’s a robot.”
“What?”
“This Mad Hatter. He’s a robot. I’ve played this level – he’s entirely mechanical.”
Marty lifted an eyebrow. “He is?”
“Yup. The real Hatter’s already gone.”
“Oh.” Marty turned his attention back to the game. “Okay then. Thanks.”
“You’re welcome. Incidentally, is that why it took you so long to beat the Tweedles as well?”
“Yeah. That ended when Verne practically shoved me out of the chair and killed Dee for me.”
Doc chuckled. “I see. Great Scott, Clara’s going to have my head for letting them see this game.”
“Gah! Don’t link Clara with the Queen of Hearts, or I’ll never finish this!”
-WRM: *headdesk*-
-HD: *headdesk*-
At least you're not IN the game this time around.
-HD: *looks up* I suppose that is a point in your favor, yes.-
-D: I won't ask how I'd get "American McGee's Alice," since I do have a time machine, and probably a personal future computer. I'll ask instead why on earth I'd want to buy that game.-
This is kind of Trilogy mixed with a bit of TAS -- since TASDoc often ends up mixed with Sluggy Freelance plots, I decided he should play video games with Torg and Riff occasionally. Failing that, let's say this story is set not too long after the Wonderland Halloween in "We're All Mad Here," and Doc was intrigued by it.
-DW: *frown* Do you still have all of us in our Wonderland roles when you think about "American McGee's Marty In Wonderland?"-
Not really -- I mostly stick to Doc-as-Hatter. Though March Hare George and Cheshire Cat Lorraine have been showing up too, lately. No Jules and Verne, though.
-HD: I'm glad. I don't like to think of them being warped like the game Tweedles.-
Me either.
-RPD: Shall we do the Sims roundup?-
We shall!
revison_doc ended up being a fairly quiet day with the FurKin -- they're now seniors!
-OD: FurKin seniors?-
Couldn't resist, could you?
-OD: *grin* I'd figure I'd get it out before the Martys did.-
And we have a similarly uneventful day for Barty Tannen over in "Eureka." I'd forgotten that Wednesday was his day off. Well, at least he made a new friend, and hired a female maid. Biological clock's ticking, don't ya know.
-VD2: Must he breed?-
I don't want to lose the bloodline just yet. Speaking of Eureka, my Mad Scientist Legacy has been updated to reflect the way I've been playing it. I've also added RolePlayDoc and WhiteRabbitMarty's new powers to the muse bios, and my YouTube account to my Sims and About Me pages.
-VD: Now you need to add new chapters to the stories.-
-DW: Plus, you have the January challenge to think about.-
Eeek, that's true. Hmmmmm. . . .
Well, first let's get some more regular writing out of the way. I think I'll have to start on a new "Tales of the Muses" soon, just to keep all of you happy.
-MF: Now THERE'S a good idea. We're up to TeenDoc, aren't we?-
I believe we are.
-TD: Finally, my spot in the spotlight again.-
-D: I wouldn't hold up too much hope for tonight, though -- her Alice video's almost downloaded.-
OOoooo! *prepares to watch*
-HD: Oh great, where did she find that?-
Archive site -- just please let it play!
