crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

TV Tropes -- read it and laugh. It's really cheering me up after a hard day at work. (And BTTF has its own page!)

No Hill Valley today. Maybe I should make this a habit -- do Strangetown one week, Hill Valley the next. With work the way it is lately (sucky), might help if I had more days off.

We may be seeing Shrek III Sunday. Next weekend would be POTC III. Everyone, keep your fingers crossed that my milkshake drink is available! (They didn't have the mix last time, so I had to settle for a tub of soda. Yes, I said tub -- I don't see how they got off on calling what they gave me a small, it was HUGE!)

A question for a friend -- [livejournal.com profile] gigs_83, what do you think of AJMcFly's BTTF/Dr. Who crossover, The Junction Point? I -- I think the Doctor's coming off as a little -- I don't know, something about the way he's acting is coming off to me as "jerk." I'm probably unfairly biased since I don't watch Who and love BTTF, so your thoughts?

First of all, that was painful to read. Not as bad as Jennifer Jane McFly or whomever it was you sporked, but close. *scrubs eyes*

Secondly, you're right. She wrote the Doctor way~ too rude for my liking. Ten may be "rude and not ginger" and gives "no second chances" as he puts it in his first full ep, but he's more civilized than that. I even at first thought she was writing for Nine (who was slightly more on the cold side but not enough to dislike him) 'til a trenchcoat was mentioned.

Just...ugh. Wait 'til I do my version. Stick with me, kid. I'll make you a Who fan yet. :p

Awww, I see. I wasn't sure if it was Nine or Ten-nant myself until he specified. (Yes, it's a he -- name's Aaron. He writes somewhat better BTTF fic (http://firetracks.awardspace.com/) -- I like some of his shorter stuff, at any rate.) And yeah, rude seems about right. The way he's handling Doc and Marty, he's coming off as WAY arrogant. I actually wanted to smack him one.

LoL. :p I think I've got Fandom By Proxy at any rate. It's the same thing with [livejournal.com profile] martyfan and Stargate -- I know all this stuff about the show, while never having watched a single episode. And yes, I'm quite interested in your version. Tin-Caan (please smack me for that) looks like an interesting villian.

I admit I do read this journal every now and then (you posted it on the bttfonline mb, after all). I know it's naughty of me to lurk and not say anything, but yeah, I sometimes just take a peak in. Sometimes I feel bad for poor RPD.

So, thought I'd just post to defend myself a bit! :P

The Doctor is being a bit rude, but he doesn't have much choice. He can't fart around, because he has to find the DeLorean and shut it down before 10:04. He doesn't really have time to reason with anyone or play nice. He does treat Marty a bit poorly, but I needed to re-trap him in the garage because I wanted the events of the trilogy to continue as they were. Part of me wants to take the whole Marty scene out altogether. Its only purpose was to give the Doctor information on the events of the trilogy. Maybe the latest chapter will at least make the Doctor seem more reasonable?

And I guess Gigs doesn't much care for my writing style - ugh, low blow comparing me to Jennifer Jane McFly :/ I am speeding through it a bit, only cuz I don't feel like taking the time to flesh it out. Kinda just wanted to jump into it.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to hear out criticism, so if you want to tell me why you didn't like my writing style, let me know. I didn't think it was too bad, maybe not as adjectivey (yes, adjectivey) as I'd like, or descriptive, but as far as being more action-oriented, I didn't think it was too bad.

So yeah, thanks for the crique anyway. I'm sure it would have been more constructive if you'd known I would read it! :P

I should also mention that I saw Shrek 3 and Pirates 3 and enjoyed both. I thought Pirates 3 was better than the second, but I didn't care much for the second one either.

I've read Chapter 4.

How DARE you take the flux capacitor away from Doc.

This is obviously not a story I will enjoy, so I think I'll just be avoiding it.

Ah, you're just a Doc fan girl, HFD! :P

But I could see how the insinuation that the FC didn't come from Doc's subconscious might offend you. I'm sure Doc will have his moment to shine. I do admit to the story being more Doctor Who-centric so far, but I hope to have some more BttF centered moments in there. I think the pace might slow a bit following the next chapter.

But thankee for reading what you did! :)
