Bit calmer now, though, part of me is still going "WHY AREN'T YOU ON A PLANE NOW?!"
-VD: Would you actually go? Money isn't the issue, you know.-
-OD: And considering one of your other coworkers took a week's vacation without a problem. . . .-
I know, I know, it's just getting up the courage! But I did always want to go to the Hollywood one. And if Chris Lloyd is actually going to be there. . . *wibbles*
-D: *pats shoulder* Well, you can't make a decision right this second, so just try to keep a calm head for the moment.-
I'm trying, I'm trying -- calm's hard to come by when you're on the rag.
-TD: As this morning so deftly proved.-
Stupid shifting around in my sleep. . . .
Thoughts on the OotP movie, as promised:

1. Neville's gotten TALL! Mom thinks they're padding his costumes to make him look heavier.
2. Dolores Umbridge -- I do think the actress was too pretty (didn't really remind me of a toad), but the attitude! Damn spot on! I kept thinking of dominatrixes.
3. We actually had animal-form Patroni! Harry still cast something that looked like a plain shield in the opening dementor attack, but at least the other characters got something.
4. Arabella Figg didn't look old and dotty enough. Damn "Hollywood Homely." Acted all right.
5. Luna. When we first met her, she was reading the Quibbler upside-down, looked great, all of that --
Then she opened her mouth.
Okay, yes, Luna is supposed to sound and act dreamy. She's supposed to have her head in the clouds and all that.
But she came off to me in the movie as acting six. I'm sorry, but I didn't think she was all that great shakes. (And I'm not sure why, but her voice rubbed me the wrong way.)
6. The Room of Requirement scenes were pretty good. I liked Filch and the Inquistorial Squad staking the place out.
7. WTF happened to the raid on the Department of Mysteries? It felt way too straightforward. At least give us a hint of other places. And W-T-F was with the wizards randomly being able to become INCORPORAL and fly around?! I swear, the first time Lucius did it to get the prophecy, my first thought was "they're ripping off Sandman?"
8. Okay, I know, OotP was the thickest of the lot. The movie still felt rushed. What kills me is that Neville's two big moments were DRASTICALLY reduced. No Christmas on the Closed Ward (and no dotty Gilderoy! *cries*) and no "He's not alone! He's still got me!" (THAT pisses me off big time, considering how badass Neville gets by the end of the books.)
9. Bellatrix -- looked like Lydia from Beetlejuice. Seriously, who designed her outfit? She looks like a Hot Topic reject.
10. However, I must say, the movie did justice to the Weasley Twins. The fireworks scene was kickass, but what I really liked was the lead-up, with Fred and George comforting Colin Creevey (pretty sure it was Colin, anyway) after one of Umbridge's "detentions." It's nice to see the twins' softer sides every once in a while.
11. The reason I will forgive the movie everything else?
The Neville/Luna interaction. Sure, I wasn't particularly fond of Movie!Luna, but ANY subtext for my noncanon HP ship is good subtext. *waves her "Government Stole My Toad" flag proudly*

Bottom-line -- if you're a fan of the books, the movie's about the same as all the others. I'm getting really curious as to how they'll handle HBP and DH -- all the subplots in the series must give them major headaches.

Got my [livejournal.com profile] revison_doc update done -- no Sims today, but tomorrow, definitely. I haven't been in much of a playing mood, sad to say.
-RPD: *pouts*-
Well, you could always team up with OckDoc to get me to do a Super BTTF II sprite comic.
-OD: *tentacles chitter* And she DOES listen to you when you're incoporeal.-
Well, he's cold!
-HD: So if I want you to pay attention to "Marty In Wonderland" again, I should soak my hand in ice water?-
I suppose. . . Speaking of stories, how much did Victor bribe you to let those "Corpse Mask" bunnies through, DocWolf?
-DW+TTV: *both try to look innocent*-
Anyway, gonna either attempt writing or try another round of Super BTTF II. I do enjoy the game, it's just the controls stick every so often.
-M: Let us give it a go -- we'll whip our anime-self into submission.-
Heh, be my guest. For those of you interested, here's an interesting overview, complete with a zip file of the game (you'll need an emulator first though.)

If you look REALLY closely, the stag rushes out at the first dementor.

Yeah, I thought I saw something -- but it was over so fast. :(

(Mind you, I'll never forgive the PoA movie for basically CUTTING OUT THE MAURADERS. Talk about slicing out an interesting bit of Harry's history.

Come to think of it, Umbridge never admitted in the movie she sent the dementors after Harry, did she?)

Nah. The closest thing is her saying at the hearing is saying that she couldn't believe Dumbledore was accusing the Ministry of having dementors attack children.

Or sommat.

10. Not Colin. Random ickle firstie, I think. But still, it's nice to see the twins being soft and squishy instead of "MWAHAHAHA blow things up! Destroy! Destroy!"
