crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Dun dun dun dun! Today was a busy day in our local BTTF space-time continuum. At roughly 6:15 A.M., Marty became the first human to break the time barrier, landing on this date in 1955 and scaring the crap out of the Peabody family. Temporal paradoxes soon followed, as Marty met both his parents while they were still teenagers and accidentally prevented the meeting that would have led to them falling in love. Worse, Lorraine developed a crush on Marty. Paging Oedipus, paging Oedipus.
-M: Shouldn't it be "paging Dr. Freud?"-
-D: It is called an "Oedipus complex," though.-
We also get to see Doc Brown in action as he tests a wonderfully-goofy looking mind-reading machine. I love that thing. :D

In my personal fanon, today is also Gypsy Robinson's birthday, so I suspect my muses will be leaving shortly for a night of debauchery centered around such.
-DW: *blush* I don't know about debauchery. . . .-
-GypsyFox: *seductively* I do.-
-VD: First though, our required poking.-
I'm working on "When Worlds Collide" right now -- I want to hit at least 8,000, hopefully more. Also messing around with "You Look Interesting."
-VD2: Don't forget your meme fics.-
I'll try not to. I should get more done on [livejournal.com profile] anivad's at least, so far I only have a line.
-HD: Weren't you going to--
-RPD: *hushes him*-
*sigh* My computer is a piece of fuckshit.
-HD: . . . I guess that answers my question.-
-Gypsy: *puzzled* What happened?-
-D: She attempted to make a backup and, roughly .1 GBs from the end, the program apparently locked up. She tried canceling it, but it just hung there -- couldn't be closed, couldn't get the disc out of the drive.-
-RPD: We had to powerstrip restart AGAIN in the end.-
If this is due to EA and SecuROM, I WILL OWN THEIR ASSES.
-HD: Wouldn't you prefer money?-
Owning their asses means SPANKINGS!
-HD: . . . *deeply disturbed* Sorry I asked.-
-VDM: She's just doing that to mess with your head.-
-TD: We'll keep our fingers crossed your computer doesn't decide to do anything else particularly evil.-
Thanks guys. Frankly, I'm this close to throwing in the towel and looking at another new computer. I'd like another Sony Vaio, honestly. *misses her old Piece O'Shit, which played Sims slowly but PLAYED them*
-Gypsy: *pats shoulder* You couldn't have known things would turn out like this. Don't send yourself on any guilt trips.-
What do you recommend for fantasies about taking a baseball bat to the computer?
-Gypsy: Recycling is better for the environment.-
Heh.
-OD: Go watch MST3K, we know you're going to anyway.-
First I have to get the BTTF.com board to stop yelling at me to post. And resist the urge to buy the Minimates.
-M2: Who saw this coming?-
*all raise hands*
I can't believe I gave you lot three pages on "Cinder-Marty."
-VD2: O.O! Three pages?!-
Yup -- store was nice and quiet today. Until closing, of course.
-TTV: Why do I think that was at the expense of "Corpse Mask?"-
Always tomorrow, Victor. You going out with the rest of them?
-TTV: For a little while, perhaps. I find myself wanting to watch my favorite movie.-
*ruffles his hair* Fanboy.
-Gypsy: Hey, if you want, we could take the DeLoreans and go see it on the big screen.-
-TTV: Really?!-
-OD: *tentacles buzz* We actually like the movie too Victor.-
-D: *interested* We could make a night out of hopping around to see movies we missed in the theatres. Let's make a list.-
And while you're doing that, I'll work on teh fanfic.

It is called an "Oedipus complex," though.
*clears throat in anticipation of being a bore and a pedant*

An Oedipus complex refers to the son who wants to kill his father and marry his mother. Marty doesn't have that. (He's also not going to blind himself, yay!) What Lorraine has is a "Jocasta complex," which refers to Oedipus's mother/wife and is used to refer to a mother who is attracted to her son. It's normally used in conjunction with a mother who knows that her son is her son, but it fits with Lorraine unusually well because Jocasta definitely did not know that Oedipus was her son.

Ahh, yes, good point. This may mean Lorraine has to strangle/hang herself (I seem to recall that's what Jocasta did when they found out the truth). . . . Ah, we'll give her a pass, she didn't get nearly as far with Marty as old Jocasta did with Oedipus.

Yup, hung herself...Marty, having resisted her feminine wiles, doesn't have to blind himself, though. (I mean, he can if he wants to, but whatever.) Also, Hill Valley doesn't need to be plagued because he also didn't kill his father, just inadvertently cock-blocked him.

Also, no kids! :D But no Sphinx. :(
