Not all that much happening. Work was fairly sucktastic (as in busier than Hell's drivethrough), but I still got two pages on "There's Always Tomorrow." I also got the majority of my taxes done -- now I just have to file. Paper seems the way to go to avoid extra fees, but since my printer and my computer are apparently no longer on speaking terms (THANK you, Best Buy Geek Squad), this may prove to be a bit of a challenge.
-TD: Can't you reinstall?-
Unfortunately, I got the printer from my parents, and my dad no longer trusts Lexmark not to screw things up for me. We might hook one of the other printers up to it temporarily and see how that works.
-RPD: Speaking of reinstalling. . . .-
Yeah, gonna give FreeTime one last go before I head to bed. Then I call Best Buy and ask them "WTF?" Sims 2 Tech Help hasn't really helped any, instructing me to do things I've already done. Wankers.
Anyway, I have fic for you all, to stave off the complaints from my muses. Here's that other drabbles88 I've been promising:
78. White
It was wonderful.
Sure, Marlene knew she could have done something a lot simpler. Wedding licenses could be filed and approved within minutes now online, and more and more people were just going for quick weddings at courthouses or places like the Chapel O’Love. But she hadn’t wanted that. She’d wanted something a bit more traditional, with the white dress and formal wear and the big party afterwards. Something kind of girly, she supposed. She was a bit of a tomboy – probably came from looking almost exactly like her father – but she had her moments of femininity. No matter what her brothers might say.
So here she was, at the country club her parents had reserved, all decked out in white and standing next to the man she loved. She smiled over at him. Somehow, she’d always known it was going to be him. It was impossible for her to think of getting married to anyone else. She was frankly a little shocked that their parents had been surprised when he had proposed. Hadn’t they seen it coming a mile away? Especially their respective fathers? Of course, they were thrilled now. Marlene couldn’t help a soft giggle. No in-law problems for her!
Her fiancé looked over at her and grinned. Marlene felt a warm glow. She loved his smile. And those warm brown eyes he’d inherited from his father. Liquid chocolate. Face it, Marlene – you hit the jackpot, she thought, stepping a little closer to him. Smart, funny, good-looking – everything you could want. And the fact that our parents are friends already is just the icing on the cake.
The officiant finished his preliminary speech and turned to the groom. “Do you, Jules Brown, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“Do you, Marlene McFly, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“Then by the power vested in me, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
*unrepetant Jules/Marlene shipper* I've been kinda/sorta in a wedding mood for a while, so I decided to write a story based around one of my favorite ships. I'm very much in favor of the dream team ending up in-laws. Now I just need a ship name.
-M: Heh, nice. But -- brothers?-
It's not obvious, but this is NonTrilogy Jules and Marlene. Though I ship Trilogy Jules and Marlene too. That, however, takes a bit of time-twisting, given Jules is so much older than Marty's kids. (NonTrilogy Jules is roughly the same age as the twins)
-D: Stranding my Trilogy son in the future, I take it?-
It's not as sad as it could be, you can always go visit him and such.
-VD: Still. . . .-
Well, I've got no solid story ideas for it, so you don't have to worry.
-VM: I dunno about the tomboy bit -- she seemed kinda girly-girl when we saw her in Part II.-
I know, but I'm going off the novel a bit here. Jennifer notes she was built kind of huskily, like one of those "high school athletic types." So I decided Marlene plays a sport, though I have decided what yet. Slamball? Anyway, that's where I got it from.
-VuM: Why the country club?-
Wasn't sure where else to put it. A hotel didn't feel right, and I'd been reading lots of stories about crazy preachers at the time I wrote the thing, so a church was out. . . . It's a nice a place as any, right?
-VuM: Oh, yeah, not complaining.-
Good.
So that's that then. Now I just have to make progress with all my other shit. "Temporalnauts" is coming along a little better at least.
-DW: Just out of curiosity, any ideas for the
backtothefanfic challenge?-
*shrug* I might be able to make up something, but -- I dunno. It's kinda dull over there, anyhow.
-VD2: Still, it guaranteed us a fic each month.-
Hmmmm. . . .
