Welcome to the Wide World of Scrapbooking
Apr. 26th, 2008 10:38 pmWent out to AC Moore today to get some scrapbook stuff so I can make a proper book out of my vacation. I've got a nice little binder book, stickers, backing paper, photo corners, photo paper, gluesticks, a few markers, and a couple of picture frames -- a simple one for my BTTF Cast picture, and a movie reel one that I plan to fill with smaller versions of some other pictures. I had to get it -- it matches my room so well!
-D: Your wallpaper border, at the very least.-
-VD2: I thought you were getting just a plain photo album.-
This is more fun, honestly. I'll start working on it tomorrow, seeing how to arrange things properly. For now, it's another entry in the trip log!
Day Four: April 18th, 2008
Our last day at the park. We get up early for the 8:00 bus again, planning to hit the water rides again and buy up souvenirs. First stop, though, is Men In Black, so I can get some interior pictures this time (they made me leave my camera case in a locker the first time – no over the shoulder items – so I stuck my camera in a pocket).
The famous worm aliens chill out in the break room.
A rather dark picture of the twin aliens who control the MIB head desk.
This alien has apparently been brainwashed by the Coca-Cola company. *shakes head sadly*
We also visited one of the little “trick shot” stations – specifically, the one that makes it look like there’s a space station section of Universal. Problem is, the shot’s a little-- off these days. . . .
Krustyland has a spaceport now? :p
Our plan was to go visit Terminator 2: 3-D again next, but first I insisted on stopping for a few more pictures with the DeLorean and the train. However, just as we were setting up, one of the employees walks up and asks if I’m 18. I tell him I am, and he starts going on about asking us to do something. Mom thinks it’s a survey and tells him, “No, we’re good,” but he assures us it’s not and that we could get 10 bucks each for it. Turns out they’re showing NBC promos for stuff over in a nearby building, and they need people to give opinions. Figuring, what the hell, we answer a few questions and go check things out. Turns out it’s six commercials for the upcoming Olympic games this summer. Slightly awkward, since we barely watch TV anyway and certainly not the Olympics, but we muddle on through, give our opinions, and get our $20. So if you see a commercial for the Olympics this summer and you hate it, blame us. ;P
-M: Good music, though.-
For most, yeah. Anyway, by that time it was too late to hit Terminator, so we got our second batch of DeLorean and Train pictures:
Chain-hop! Hello there DeLorean!
Though it could use a little more TLC. Especially on poor Mr. Fusion there.
More chain-hopping! I look a bit like I'm trying to cover my ears while the train prepares to run me over, huh?
Yes, I took the opportunity to touch it. It's a piece of movie history, no? :D
Then we headed over to Islands of Adventure. Spidey again, naturally --
Egomaniac, much? :p The statue's actually in the waiting area, but we never got over that far, so this is the best shot I could get.
-- then over to Dudley Do-Right. We didn't think we'd be at Dudley's long -- the wait time was listed as 40 minutes.
LIES. LIES AND PROPAGANDA. We must have waited in that line for at LEAST an hour, probably more! After that, we didn’t want to risk the other lines being as insanely long too, so we headed straight for lunch at Blondie’s. I got myself a very big Nathan’s hot dog, which was all right.
-M2: Hey, I thought it was great!-
Yeah, but you’ve got a weakness for those things.
Can you believe I ate the whole thing? HUGE hotdog!
Then we started on our souvenir shopping. Heading over to the Marvel gift shop, we got a Silver Surfer T-shirt for Dad, and a Venom-themed baseball cap, a Venom pin, a Spidey ride keyring, and a Spidey guitar pin (Spider-Man print on a guitar) for me. I also got myself another ice cream – the Dig It! Sundae. Chocolate ice cream with hot fudge, peanut butter cups, nuts, whipped cream, and some caramel sauce. Mmmmmm. Mom picked up a new T-shirt at the exit, and we headed back to the main park. This time we caught a Terminator show. Motorcycle was broken. :( Then it was to the gift shop.
Took three tries to get a decent pic with this guy. You may notice I didn't even try to get rid of the red-eye I have. :p
I got a shirt there – black with “I’ll Be Back” running down the side in red letters. We quickly stopped by the Men In Black shop, where I grabbed a MIB Alien Attack keyring with my name, a Terminator 2 pin with a bobblehead (which I lost the other day swatting at bees – the bobblehead made it loose – and which is currently being glued back together since it ended up in three pieces by the time we found it), and a new Spidey-themed lanyard for my keys.
Then, right before we left, as Mom looked around the exit store again, I spotted something interesting. There was a little photo booth that let you put your face in postcards with a certain ride border around it – and BTTF was still in there! So we spent five dollars and I got myself a neat BTTF: TR momento AFTER THE RIDE WAS GONE. Talk about time travel.
Is this awesome, or is this awesome?
Off we went again, out of the park and back to the hotel. We had dinner in our room, having picked up some stuff at a nearby grocery store for a change. Mom had a salad, and I got a chicken pot pie. Good stuff. Then, since it was early yet, we decided to check out this mini-golf place right next to our hotel. It was dinosaur/tiki-island themed, kinda overgrown with weeds and with lots and lots of gnats. But we had a decent game – ended up tying. And the volcano they had was pretty cool. Every time someone got a hole-in-one at the 19th hole – the one where you shoot to dispose of your ball and try and score a free game – it belched REAL FIRE.
Ph34r the -- rather fake-looking -- I forget what that is, actually. Some sort of raptor, I know that much. . . .
Duct tape -- the official bandage of injured dinosaurs
Inside the volcano was this cool cave with these drawings. In the cave though was a blacklight, so they had flourescent bits and such. It's way cooler than in the picture.
The sign next to this claimed it was a T-Rex. *pause* Sure. Sure it is.
Then, back to the hotel for snacks and a movie. This was Victor’s highlight of the trip – “The Truman Show” was playing on one of the channels. Whatcha think, Victor?
-TTV: I liked it! Though the whole bit about having people watch your every move hit a tad close to home.-
-DW: At least our movies never followed us into the bathroom or anything like that. And they didn’t start from day one of our lives.-
-MF: Think about that next time you write fan fiction.-
Hey!
Well, anyway, we watched Truman, and then it was time for bed before the big day!
*ruffles Victor's hair* Silly Victor.
-TTV: The whole reason you went down was to see a movie!-
AND meet a favorite actor. Though I promise that, if I ever get a chance to meet Jim Carrey, I'll do it for you.
-TTV: *grin* Thank you.-
Not much else going on today. My leg's stopped hurting, which is nice. Still have no idea why it started hurting in the first place.
-OD: Maybe the muscle just randomly seized up. You mentioned being on your feet and stressed out most of the day yesterday.-
Yeah, true. . . .
Anyway, I should write. VampDoc needs edits from me, and I ought to give RPD some love with some Changeling stuff.
-RPD: Especially since Sims seems to be a distant memory.-
I know, I know. . . . Maybe I'll give that another shot tomorrow. Or load up Alice and start on the next difficulty level up.
-HD: Must you?-
I like the game! And you can't think it's all bad.
-HD: I suppose not. But we need more humor. Weren't you going to get Psychonauts?-
Hmmm. *goes to look at e-Bay again*
-RPD: I can get behind that too!-
