To Cut Or Not To Cut

-DW: Fanfiction issues?-
Yeah. Wondering if I should cut this little section out of my latest fanfic. It slows down getting to the main action, but it also explains how the box got to where it did. Though I can always explain that as strong currents. . . .
-DW: The box?-
Uh, yeah. I started "Corpse Mask." ^^; I can't help it -- after watching the movie today, I'm in a very Victor Van Dort mood. It's weird how these things just randomly pop up.
-TTV: *grin* I don't mind. And yes, cut the prologue down. We don't need to see poor Elder Gutknecht getting killed.-
I thought you'd say that. It's just -- I need an explanation for the Mask getting out. That's the one problem with this fanfiction -- it can be kinda hard to write out all the jokes. The Mask is a very visual movie. Too bad I have no drawing skillz, I'd have done it as a comic.
-OD: Couldn't you ask someone to help?-
I don't really know anyone in Corpse Bride fandom. And god knows if there's actually a Mask fandom nowadays. It's not that old a movie, granted, but I've never been able to find much on the web.
-TTV: *sulk*-
*patpat* I know, Victor. We'll do our best with the fanfic, okay?
In other news, THE THREAD LIVES. Yup, things are going in the Watchpocolapyse again. Doc's discovered where he is, thankfully, and is currently having a potentially awkward discussion about what it entails to release watch!Doctor from said watch. It's very, very long, and very scattered. Thank me sometimes being a little slow in my comments and such.
-RPD: At least there might be some closure in the near future.-
Yeah, we can only hope. I gotta get Doc back to the Conrad so he can pack up and escape. Pretty sure that, after all this, he's on Romana's shit list.
-VD: I think we can safely assume that, yes.-
-VM: But -- where's he gonna go?-
*shrug* The only place I can think of is Kashatta Tower, since he knows Revan. Mind you, if he ever learns about the retconning, he won't like Torchwood very much anymore. Memories are a BIG DEAL to him.
-VD2: *teasingly* What about the puppy?-
We'll deal with the puppy later. First, he must finish up his conversations and get back to the Conrad.
-HD: Too bad there's no handy rabbit holes for him to fall down.-
Yeah, another alternate universe? I think he'd go a little crazy, even if it was Disney Wonderland. He already had one breakdown in the thread, simply because everything was happening so fast.
-TD: Sheesh. I guess we're just little angst magnets whenever we get around you.-
I regret nothing.
Anyway, I should go and puzzle out this prologue more.
-D: Does it even really need a prologue? They cut the Vikings from the original Mask.-
I think it does, if only to show why, in this universe, the Mask ended up in England rather than Edge City. But yeah, probably could use some chopping down. Honestly, I'd be happy ending it where I have it now, except that it doesn't show the Mask getting free of the box. Hmmmm.
-HD: Perhaps you should deal with this on a going backwards basis.-
-M: Don't you mean --
No, I think I get what he says. Ahoy main plot!
But before that,
revison_doc update. Not very long -- just Julia and Harriet at college -- but worth a read, I hope.

This is exactly why I haven't lit out to the Tower, actually. I mean, I'm sure someone there wouldn't be opposed to helping me move the Skid, but Torchwood now Officially Wigs Me Out. >:E

Date: 2008-06-30 02:21 am (UTC)Ugh, yes. I don't know about that crap in-game yet, but it disturbs me greatly. I really hope any in-game knowledge doesn't end up affecting my relationship with Revan. I need my friends here.

Incidentally, I am slightly amused by the fact that your new thread has everyone interacting with the SKID instead of AUBREY. I'd send Doc over to see xem if he wasn't busy evacuating. (Long story)

Date: 2008-07-04 01:56 am (UTC)Yeah, feeling a lot better now that the mods have smoothed things out. Doc misses Aubs too. It's funny how they just immediately glommed onto each other, isn't it?

Date: 2008-07-05 03:32 am (UTC)It is adorable! And with Farley feeling all chummy with Doc -- it's a fanclub! :D Really makes me feel good.
I'm liking the Aubs/Farley interaction, so I can wait, no prob. :p

Date: 2008-06-29 05:05 am (UTC)Guess I should keep Jack away from Rift!Doc when I write that blog story about him meeting Mistral and Tempest, eh? :p (It was AL's Tommy's idea for him to move in after celebrating John Barrowman's 40th birthday in '07 -- I want to look that good when I'm 40!!!)

Date: 2008-06-30 02:23 am (UTC)You don't necessarily have to, but yeah, Rift!Doc might be a tad uncomfortable. Poor guy, he sometimes feels like has no one to turn too.
