Talk About Right On The Money
Jul. 16th, 2008 11:21 pmYeah, you know how I was talking yesterday about feeling wiped and figuring my period was coming soon because of it?
Showed up this morning. Luckily I caught it before any major damage was done.
-OD: *Tommy* I'm glad we're not girls. This period stuff looks uncomfortable. Tommy!-
Heh, it's okay, Doc, he knows of what he speaks. I'm one of those unlucky people who get cramps. Or, in my case, it's a nasty gutache that lasts most of the first day. I wasn't happy today.
-DW: So we can guess. You looked utterly worn out after work today.-
Yeah, it was busy and hot and all kinds of bleck. I took a nice cooling shower once I got home. Tomorrow promises to be more of the same. At least I got my page on "There's Always Tomorrow." And more on "Corpse Mask."
-TTV: How far along are you on that?-
We're coming up on the party and wearing the Mask take 2.
-TTV: *gringrin* I like that bit.-
You would.
-TD: Still not feeling PreTime, huh?-
Sorry. :( I'm blaming it on hormones for now.
-VD: Do you have any ideas beyond "There's Always Tomorrow" and "Corpse Mask?"-
-MF: She's got a few Rift!Fic ideas. You know, the puppy thing, and something with Aubrey and Farley.-
Yeah, silly little drabble-ish thing about Aubs showing Doc and Farley what the Skid can do. Incidentally, Aubs appears to be getting a job with Nikola Tesla. Yay, Doc has an excuse to go to the Main Gauche and see Nik!
-HD: Tea for everyone!-
-D: Really??-
Yup! It should prove to be interesting. Especially if Doc runs into Suzie.
-RPD: This again. . . .-
-VD2: Is it really necessary to break him again? We rather like seeing ourselves on the happy side of the spectrum of emotions.-
-RPD: Not to mention Kat, and thus Revan, are taking a summer hiatus, meaning the fanclub's incomplete.-
I know, I know, but I still think it would be an interesting interaction. Suz is neat.
-HD: She unnerves me. I keep thinking she'd see a Richard version of me if she met me. Which is highly unpleasant and very confusing since I like the actual Richard.-
Technically, Richard is the reformed fandom shipping version of American McGee's Mad Hatter. She'd be seeing an eviller Hatter you.
-VD: Not to mention Richard!Us is technically Rift!Doc himself.-
-RPD: Actually, Richard!Us is CHANGELING!Doc. Rift!Doc is more the male Storm archetype.-
Yeah, but he's still half-mechanical.
-HD: *pulls hat over his head* Contact me when this all gets less confusing.-
-TD: You expect it to get less confusing?-

Date: 2008-07-17 05:59 am (UTC)I'm really uncomfortable with Aubrey being used in a fic. I'm overprotective of my characters as a general rule, and had qualms about bringing xem into the Rift on account of this (not that I'm not enjoying it now). The fact that I'm actually planning out a pretty epic novelplotstory with xem, and planning on getting it published, is part of this. (Also, I regard xem as an actual person, and therefore it kinda just squicks me out. I have weird issues with fandom -- not those who write/read it, but just as a general rule in how it affects me personally.)
Obviously, I can't really stop you from writing it, or posting it anywhere, though I'd prefer it not happen. (At least not the posting? I don't know, I dislike dictating what people can and can't write for their own amusement.) It's just that since I am really close to Aubrey, anything that involves xem as more than a slight, peripheral character that I haven't written makes me uncomfortable. Even then, I guess I prefer to be talked to beforehand about the whole idea, and even then, I'll probably only feel comfortable if a close friend who knows both of us (outside the Rift) wanted to write something.
I don't want to be a bitch about it at all, and I hope I'm not coming across that way. And I know I kind of got myself into the situation because I brought xem into what is, essentially, a kind of fanfic in and of itself, thus opening xem up to the public in certain ways. Despite that, the concept still makes me squirm.

Date: 2008-07-17 12:53 pm (UTC)I won't do anything with it if it makes you and Aubs uncomfortable. This is all about having fun, right? :) I'm just the type with an overactive imagination who basically likes to write stories about everything.
Good luck with the novelplotstory! From what you've said of NonRift!Aubrey, it sounds pretty interesting. Fingers crossed you do get it published. :)

Date: 2008-07-17 04:30 pm (UTC)And I totally know what it's like to have the overactive imagination and want to write stories about everything. Even though I seem to be going through a dry spell writerly-wise, I've written things for my own characters that are out of canon but I had to get the damn things out of my head. XD
Also. Er, I really wanna make clear that the whole rant on my own LJ actually wasn't in regards to you. This comment-thing is what sparked it off/reminded me of the rant, but that's really about it. It's just something I'd been meaning to ramble on for awhile and was a little too afraid to say, is all. I'm not sure that came across correctly (as it was like, two in the morning when I wrote the damn thing ><).

Date: 2008-07-18 01:22 am (UTC)LOL, yeah. In my case, I tend to crossover damn near EVERYTHING with Back To The Future. And I've had those plotbunnies that would JUST NOT DIE. Hell, one of my muses was one -- say hello, OckDoc.
*nodnod* Yeah, I getcha. No worries, really. :)
No waaaay
I blame the schools....
