Happy Birthday Tracey!
Aug. 2nd, 2008 01:58 pmHave a shortfic I think you'll enjoy.
The Best Revenge
Brat tossed and turned in her bed. She just couldn’t get comfortable tonight. She grumbled to herself, irritated. Wasn’t life hard enough for her without insomnia? She added it to her ever-growing list of complaints.
At least that freaky redhead and her mother had finally moved out. The nerve they had had, complaining about her use of the thermostat! So what if the rest of the building cooked? The thermostat was hers to use, and she got cold so easily! She had gotten her mother to come and yell at them sometimes, but they had persisted in tormenting her. Nasty people. She was so glad they were gone.
She flopped onto her side and tried closing her eyes. Sleep had to be forthcoming. She had a busy day ahead of her. Okay, not really, but she still liked to be well-rested. Her beauty sleep was so important, after all. And it was just so – so –
cold.
Brat opened her eyes again, puzzled. It shouldn’t be cold in her room. She’d turned the thermostat up right before going to bed. She sat up and pulled the covers off. Icy air assaulted her skin. She glowered into the dark. Was someone trying to mess with her? She wouldn’t put it past that redhead to –
There was something else in the room.
Brat froze. She could see it, standing – no, floating near the window. Roughly man-shaped, and glowing faintly green. What the hell? “Hello?” she called, voice high from nervousness.
The thing turned toward her. And that’s when she saw the blood on its clothes, the ragged tears in its neck and wrists, and those haunting brown eyes, wide with terror and pain, all glowing that sickly green –
The quiet night air was suddenly disturbed by Brat running screaming from her apartment. Moments later, the ghostly figure floated out after her. It watched her leave, then smirked. “Mission accomplished,” Role-Play Doc stated.
Have a happy birthday! Me, I get to deal with another batch of thunderstorms apparently coming through. *is quite annoyed* I am SICK of all this crappy weather on weekends!
