Big Changes Ahead
Dec. 8th, 2008 10:31 pmDecember 8:
Marty poked his head into the busy Inkwell kitchen. “Mmm! What smells good?”
“Gingerbread,” Alice happily replied, looking over from the stove. “I made it myself.”
“I didn’t know you knew how to cook.”
“Mrs. Plum’s been teaching me,” Alice said proudly.
Marty paused. His eyes flicked down to Alice’s bloody apron. Were there more stains than usual? “Um – maybe I’ll wait.”
Alice rolled her eyes. “Really, it’s perfectly fine!”
“Your apron?” Marty pointed out.
“. . .That’s the blood of the last man who insulted my cooking.”
“. . .So, gingerbread?”
Yes, this is FuturePossibleRift!Alice, who insists on hanging around my head.
-Alice: Well, my boyfriend's here!-
-Rift!Victor: *pleased blush*-
-M: Listen, Alice, given the way Mrs. Plum cooks--
-Alice: I know, I know, but I know better than to use her ingredients.-
-D: So that's just pure gingerbread.-
-Alice: Of course.-
-HD: Goes well with tea?-
-Alice: I would assume so.-
To you, EVERYTHING goes well with tea.
-HD: Tea is a drink beyond reproach!-
*rolls eyes*
Feeling twitchy. Of course, this may be because all heck seems poised to break loose around here.
-VD: What? What's going on?-
Simply put -- we're moving.
-VD2: . . . No we aren't.-
Yes we are! It's actually happening this time!
-D: Victoria, we've heard this a few times now. Your parents start talking about going, we get our hopes up, and then it fizzles out because of any number of disasters.-
Well, trust me, it's happening this time.
-DW: Oh? How do you know?-
The small fact that they're leaving at the end of this week to go look for the house.
-Muses: . . .-
-OD: Excuse me??-
Look, we've finally got enough cash to make the move, and lately our landlords have been acting really stupid, so we decided to just go down there. And now Mom and Dad are working on getting down to Florida at the end of this week to see if they can rent a house. They're hoping to have us down there by January 1st.
-TD: New Year's?! Is that possible? Without a time machine, I mean?-
I don't know, but they're sure gonna try!
-RPD: What does that mean for us?-
Chaos, I'm sure, but it's not for a little bit yet. Don't panic.
-VDM: That's kind of hard with Victor here.-
-TTV: Hey!-
-D: What about your job? I mean, I know you don't particularly like it. . . .-
Let's see what happens when they go down to see about the house first. Right now, Clockwork's been mentally bugging me about posting in his journal. Maybe I'll do that Colorgenics thing for Victor too. (And Marty -- get some use out of that journal.)
Neat!
Although, it probably gets pretty damn humid down there, should we take bets on how long it'll take the muses to start bitching on that? LOL ;O)
Re: Neat!
Date: 2008-12-10 12:08 am (UTC)LOL, yeah, really. Though I expect we'll have central air, so they can't bitch TOO much.

Date: 2008-12-09 06:13 am (UTC)It's such an awesome state. I lived down there for a while. Lots of trailer parks and flea market and swamps, and Disney owns everything that's not swamp or Miami, and Cuban drug lords own Miami.
Where in Florida are you moving to?
