Been a bit of a "bleck" day. Work was just busy enough to annoy me, and I had to rebag a bunch of shit because we've got some sort of leak in our rack. I think it's hydraulic fluid. Boss has ordered the stuff to get it fixed, we just need to wait for it to come in.
-TD: Too bad we can't go over and help.-
Yeah, tell me about it. Also, planned to take some pictures today, but apparently my camera batteries are near dead. So that's gotta wait until tomorrow, when I can pick up/find some more.
In better news,
inkwell_bar has a proper profile now. Once I find those pictures of the Sims version I created, I'll make some initial posts and get the party started.
-D: I'm still a little surprised you created a musebox in the first place.-
Hey, it looked like fun, and it provides a nice place for birthday parties and the like. Too bad it wasn't up in time for Simon's, but Alice is all set.
-VD2: Still working on Simon's backstory?-
Almost finished. I've got the one meme done, and I'm almost through with the other. Then just gotta finish up Lucy's.
-HD: What about Dee? Or Steve & Gary?-
They're special cases, being inanimate objects made animate people. I'll probably just write up brief histories for them. I need to write something for Simon too, honestly -- Lucy's covered by the potential BTR app.
-RPD: Are you going to get any of them proper games?-
Well, Steve & Gary will be falling into the Nexus shortly. And an upcoming event should provide them human forms. Which means I'm definitely going to have to get into Sims this week to design them. God, haven't touched the game in ages. . . .
Anyway, I've been inspired to post some fic. There's a "suggest a pairing between one of your characters and one of mine and I'll write about their potential kids" meme going around the Rift lately. Since I don't feel confident writing about anybody else's muses, I'll just write about my own:
24. Good night – No Sleep Tonight
Alice looked up from her reading as Victor entered their bedroom. Her husband looked at her for a moment, then walked over to the bed and flopped down face-first on it. Alice giggled, setting aside her book. “The children give you trouble, then?”
“Just the usual,” Victor admitted, turning over so he could look at her. “Always wanting another bedtime story, or a drink, or for me to check for monsters lurking under the bed. . .though, actually, I’m glad they asked me for the last one. I found a nest of mome raths under Lucy’s.”
“Oh dear. Did you get them out?”
“Yes, after chasing them around the room a couple of times. They’re very quick.” Victor smirked a bit. “Lucy and Lorina found it very amusing. So did Chester, when he came over to see what all the fuss was.” He sat up, shaking his head. “I don’t think I’ll ever quite get over my habit of starting when he comes up on me suddenly.”
“It is amazing how much he looks like you,” Alice agreed. “I suspect once he becomes a teenager, I may have to check twice when one of you comes into a room.”
“Thank God he got your eyes, then,” Victor agreed. Then, rolling his eyes up toward his hairline, he added, “I suppose my going grey helps too.”
Alice ruffled his hair. “I wouldn’t worry about that. You’re still as handsome as you were when we first met.” She scooted over and put her arms around him. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Remember when we first got married? How we’d spend hours in bed whispering sweet nothings to each other?”
“Yes. I believe that turned out to be the problem.” Alice peered at him over his shoulder, puzzled. “We never kept them to ‘nothings.’”
Alice giggled, then kissed the back of his neck. “‘Nothings’ are no fun, Victor dear.”
Victor turned to grin at her. “Why, Miss Liddell, are you trying to seduce me?”
“Yes,” Alice said simply, divesting him of his tie and suitjacket.
“I see. Well, I’m afraid that, after three children, I’m rather too tired to--”
Victor stopped with a bit of a squeak as Alice ran her nails down his spine, lingering at that certain spot between his shoulder blades. “Yes?” Alice prompted, smirking as she unbuttoned his vest.
“. . .Never mind,” Victor growled, spinning around and pressing his lips hard against hers.
-MF: I can hear Rift!Victor blushing.-
*snork* Yup, future!fic of our favorite crossover couple. This one's set some years after "The Solicitor's Ward," that fanfic I keep talking about but not writing. Victor and Alice are living in Wonderland at this point, and as you can see, they've got three kids. There's Chester Emmett, then Lucille Desiree, then Lorina Michelle. Chester's named after Cheshire (close as they could get with a 'human' name), Lorina after Alice's mum. Emmett, Lucille, and Desiree actually come from Doc, Lucy, and Dee respectively -- I first thought of the kids in a muse-setting.
-MF: Aaand now Alice is blushing.-
*giggle* Chester happens to look pretty much exactly like Victor -- I thought it was a funny idea, and I'll admit to being a bit inspired by Player Piano's idea that Victor's first daughter, Lydia, looks almost exactly like him. The only difference with Chester is that he got Alice's green eyes.
I swear to EVERY GOD ABOVE, I didn't have "Harry Potter" in mind when I did that.
-M: Suuure you didn't.-
I didn't! Anyway, the idea of "pillow talk" only being safe when it's JUST talk comes from one of Tekva's sadly defunct BTTF fics -- Doc expressed a similar sentiment when Clara sent Jules and Verne in to wake him up one morning. The "Why Miss Liddell" line is the obvious "Why, Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?" joke. And the title comes from a song I heard and liked a lot on YouTube: No Sleep Tonight
-MHG: I'm curious as to why there's this spot on Victor's BACK that --
-TTV: PLEASE DON'T.-
It just amuses me. I won't say anything more for Victors' sanity.
-TTV: *facepalms*
Okay, I'm gonna go get ready to hit the sack.
