Feeling a little undermotivated today (though I have done a bit of editing on "V.D.") -- let's post Victor/Alice fic.

30. Kiss – So Kiss Me
Victor had always thought his first kiss would be at the altar. Even before his parents had informed him of his arranged marriage, he hadn’t been able to see himself working up the courage to kiss a girl before then. Kissing meant you were serious about a lady. That you were in love, or at least liked each other enough to risk marriage. Victor could barely gather the courage to talk to most girls his age. He was so worried about doing something wrong, of upsetting them somehow, that he choked on and stumbled over his words, making vague gestures and avoiding their eyes. Kissing any of them was out of the question.
Then Alice came along. At first, he’d been just as nervous around her as he was around any woman. But after spending some time with her, he’d discovered – he could talk to her. She was so fascinating and friendly, she managed to put him at ease. She tolerated his stuttering, didn’t mock his love of butterflies, and even shared his passion for drawing. She accepted him for him. It was rather nice having someone like that. Having a friend.
Which was why, after all that had happened, he’d chosen to go to her. He’d snuck into her room (sans any form of chaperone – how scandalous!) and explained the entire situation to her. It was utterly fantastical – he’d somehow managed to marry a corpse, for goodness sake – but he knew she’d understand. Alice was good with things like that. And indeed, she’d listened with an open mind and promised to help him in any way possible. That made him feel good enough to confess to his nervousness about his normal wedding to Victoria. How he didn’t think he’d ever be a good enough husband for her – or for anyone. Especially for you, he’d thought before he could stop himself.
Alice had reassured him, telling him he would be a wonderful husband (the praise made him blush), and that if anyone was going to have trouble getting married, it was her. Victor couldn’t quite believe that. Someone not wanting to marry sweet, beautiful, funny, spunky Alice? It was absurd, and he told her so. She’d blushed too, and thanked him – and out of nowhere, told him she was jealous of Victoria, and that –
That she cared for him. That she was in love with him.
Him.
Alice Liddell – the woman he’d been dreaming about, the woman he was certain would never give him a second glance, never think about him that way – was in love with him. For a moment, all he could do was stare. Then, slowly, he managed to reply, “Alice – I feel the same.”
Alice stared at him then, the shocked expression on her face a mirror to how he felt. And something about how close they were leaning toward each other, and the sudden, almost giddy feeling in his heart (she loved him, she loved him, never mind all the additional problems it would create, SHE LOVED HIM) made Victor abruptly decide to throw caution to the wind.
And as his lips pressed against hers, kissing suddenly seemed like the most natural thing in the world.

I was listening to "Kiss The Girl" just a few minutes ago, so this seemed like the obvious choice.
-J: Aww, they're so romantic.-
Aren't they? This fic details one of the major canon deviations in "The Solicitor's Ward" from plain old "Corpse Bride," beside the general addition of Alice -- instead of going to see Victoria about his Emily problems, he goes to see Alice -- mostly because he thinks going to see Victoria about getting help with another woman might not be such a good idea. Of course, the path he chooses just leads to more complications. . . .
-M: Yeah, well, going to Victoria didn't work out too well for him either.-
-TTV: I wasn't exactly expecting Emily to follow me. But shouldn't she catch them there?-
Nope -- this Victor still went to the Everglots first, and Emily followed his footprints there. They get caught by Alice's uncle instead. Who is naturally pretty upset that Victor's apparently a complete rake. . . .
-TTV: *blush*-
It's not even you, silly! *patpats him*
-TTV: I know, but the more-or-less "correct" Victor isn't here.-
Heh. Anyway, this is just a little fic showing how these two finally realize and admit to their feelings for each other. Again, it seemed a natural for the prompt.
-DW: Is that another song title I see?-
Yup, the title is from the song "So Kiss Me." Actually, a fair amount of the titles in this prompt fic series are from songs -- dunno why. They just seem to fit.

Okay, time to see about at least getting Mom's Mother's Day gift looking presentable. :)
