The Fourth Thing of Christmas that’s such a pain to me:
Sending Christmas Cards
Dear Mom and Dad,
I’m writing this about a week before Christmas – hopefully you’ll get it before New Year’s, at least. Consider it my present to you guys. I’m doing okay, so you don’t have to worry about me. I’ve had to face down a few monsters, but they were nothing I couldn’t handle. Unfortunately, this means I still don’t know what fear is. It’s getting kind of frustrating.
There’s good news, though – I’ve made some friends out here. They’re all really great people. First there’s Victor – a tall, really skinny guy who’s always kind of nervous and shy. But he also always has your back. He’s a musician, like me – he plays piano – and while he’s just an okay fighter, he’s got this special stuff that can heal wounds really fast, so we’re using him as the team doctor. Then there’s Alice – she’s better than even me at killing monsters. She’s got an axe and she knows how to use it. She can be really nice, though – she took me and Victor in for the night after helping us with a wolf pack that was bothering us. (I think she’s sweet on Victor, actually – he’s certainly sweet on her.) Then you’ve got Doc – he’s the oldest guy here. 65 and still kicking. He was doing blacksmith work when we first met him. He’s pretty much a genius, invents all sorts of cool stuff. You should see the rifle he’s got – it has a telescope on it that lets him shoot at stuff over 500 yards away! And finally, there’s Jennifer – she’s a princess we helped rescue from her castle after she was cursed. Some nasty fairy decided to make it so she had to sleep until receiving True Love’s Kiss just because she missed an invitation to the christening.
So – yeah, I’ve got a girlfriend now! She’s fantastic – sweet, kind, but also kind of sassy. And she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and pitch in, despite being royalty. She’s really the best. I’m looking forward to introducing you to her once I get back.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I’m doing all right. Hopefully I’ll be home soon, and I’ll finally be able to shudder properly. Tell Dave and Linda I said hi, and that I hope they’re good.
Love from your son,
Marty
It only seemed natural to do a "writing home" fic for this prompt. Nothing too interesting to say about this one -- Marty just bringing his parents up to speed on the plot, basically. Also, more Victor/Alice hints. I'm in that sort of mood.
I should mention the Nostalgia Critic did make me feel a little better -- he did a second list of Christmas specials/movies you ought to see. I was very happy to see that the Blackadder Christmas Carol got a spot! And you'll never believe what made #1. . . .
No, I'm not going to tell you. Go watch it. Get some Christmas spirit. (And just wait until next week's review.)

Dear Santa...Dear Santa, This year I've been busy! In June I gave Overall, I've been naughty (-21 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking! Sincerely, |
