Today is fired.

But at least the damn Santa letter meme is working:

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In June I gave [livejournal.com profile] revison_doc a Dutch Oven (-10 points). In April I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). In February I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). In March I put gum in [livejournal.com profile] damostaranth's hair (-12 points). In July I helped [livejournal.com profile] milennia_muses see the light (8 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-21 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
docsgirl

What is a Dutch Oven, anyway?

Also, fic:

The Fourth Thing of Christmas that’s such a pain to me:

Sending Christmas Cards
Dear Mom and Dad,
I’m writing this about a week before Christmas – hopefully you’ll get it before New Year’s, at least. Consider it my present to you guys. I’m doing okay, so you don’t have to worry about me. I’ve had to face down a few monsters, but they were nothing I couldn’t handle. Unfortunately, this means I still don’t know what fear is. It’s getting kind of frustrating.

There’s good news, though – I’ve made some friends out here. They’re all really great people. First there’s Victor – a tall, really skinny guy who’s always kind of nervous and shy. But he also always has your back. He’s a musician, like me – he plays piano – and while he’s just an okay fighter, he’s got this special stuff that can heal wounds really fast, so we’re using him as the team doctor. Then there’s Alice – she’s better than even me at killing monsters. She’s got an axe and she knows how to use it. She can be really nice, though – she took me and Victor in for the night after helping us with a wolf pack that was bothering us. (I think she’s sweet on Victor, actually – he’s certainly sweet on her.) Then you’ve got Doc – he’s the oldest guy here. 65 and still kicking. He was doing blacksmith work when we first met him. He’s pretty much a genius, invents all sorts of cool stuff. You should see the rifle he’s got – it has a telescope on it that lets him shoot at stuff over 500 yards away! And finally, there’s Jennifer – she’s a princess we helped rescue from her castle after she was cursed. Some nasty fairy decided to make it so she had to sleep until receiving True Love’s Kiss just because she missed an invitation to the christening.

So – yeah, I’ve got a girlfriend now! She’s fantastic – sweet, kind, but also kind of sassy. And she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and pitch in, despite being royalty. She’s really the best. I’m looking forward to introducing you to her once I get back.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I’m doing all right. Hopefully I’ll be home soon, and I’ll finally be able to shudder properly. Tell Dave and Linda I said hi, and that I hope they’re good.

Love from your son,
Marty

It only seemed natural to do a "writing home" fic for this prompt. Nothing too interesting to say about this one -- Marty just bringing his parents up to speed on the plot, basically. Also, more Victor/Alice hints. I'm in that sort of mood.

I should mention the Nostalgia Critic did make me feel a little better -- he did a second list of Christmas specials/movies you ought to see. I was very happy to see that the Blackadder Christmas Carol got a spot! And you'll never believe what made #1. . . .

No, I'm not going to tell you. Go watch it. Get some Christmas spirit. (And just wait until next week's review.)

I wasn't all that surprised, really. To tell the truth, I think I would've been disappointed if it wasn't on the list.

But yeah, like the man said, "Fuck you! It's Die Hard!"

LOL, I see.

I've never seen Die Hard in full, actually. I've seen the beginning and the ending, and bits and pieces of the middle, but. . . Should correct that one day, methinks.

Oh, definitely watch it. It's really good - especially the idea of someone who's NOT Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone as an action hero.

Hmm. Something tells me you might enjoy that spanking a little too much! Is Doc in on this?? XD

*snork* Oh yeah! I was thinking, "You know, that's not much of a punishment. . . ." ;p

Muses+RP Characters: O.o *back away sloooowly*

As in fired (lost your job??) Cripes I hope not! O.o

A Dutch Oven is apparently when you fart in bed, then cover your loved one with the doona/covers so they have to smell it. Disturbing!

LMAO! At the Christmas List, funnily enough Die Hard is on tonight.

Can't wait for next week and the Star Wars Christmas Special, I've never even seen the Star Wars movie, but that Christmas Special is legendary in the field of massive suck!

And good to know that 'The Tale' Marty is keeping his parents up to date. :O)

Oh, no! I meant as I'd like to fire today! I'm still gainfully employed, don't worry. (I just ran into a major snafu at work -- the conveyor belt we keep the clothes on just decided to stop working on me, which meant I basically had no access to the top rack.)

Ew! Talk about a dick move.

LOL, indeed. I'm planning to make a night of it when he does the SWCS -- apparently RiffTrax has a clip of their take on their YouTube channel, and there's an article on TV Tropes about it. :D

Yeah -- I can't really fit it into the main story, but he does like to send them the occasional letter to let them know he's still alive.

Nice fic.

Maybe you should do a short story about the reaction George and Lorraine have when reading the letter, or the letter they'll write back. I'm kind of curious what they'd have to say about all this.
