crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

The stupid conveyor at work's busted, which is a total pain in the ass. *is very grateful for her weekend*

Anyway, fic time:
The Sixth Thing of Christmas that’s such a pain to me:

Facing My In-Laws
“And then – Great Scott!”
Everyone blinked in confusion as Doc’s jaw dropped. “What? What is it?” Marty asked, starting to turn around.
Doc grabbed his arm. “Don’t stare! I don’t want him looking over this way!”
“Who?” Jennifer asked, trying to sneak her own peek.
“Neil Wooster!”
“Who?”
“Jill’s brother!”
“What?!” Marty managed to pull out of Doc’s grip and look. Standing at the bar was a man roughly about Doc’s age, dressed in a fancy fur cloak. “That’s the brother of the princess who tried to off you?”
“That’s him,” Doc nodded, eyes wide and nervous. “Damn it, I never expected to see that family again once Jill left me and her father lost his crown. This is the last thing I need after years of being on the run.”
“We won’t let him do anything to you, Doc,” Marty promised. “Besides, what happened between you and Jill was years ago, wasn’t it? Why would he care now?”
“Oh, people can hold grudges for ages, Marty,” Victor said, sipping his tea and trying not to look in Neil’s direction. “Just ask my mother. She’s still not speaking to an old school friend who ‘slighted’ her.”
Neil’s head suddenly turned in their direction. Doc quickly lowered his head so his face was obscured. Alice, sitting next to him, leaned over a bit to help cover him further.
It didn’t seem to help – Neil began walking toward their table. “Damn, damn damn,” Doc whispered. “I was hoping this was all over. . . .”
“Don’t worry, Doc, we’ve got your back,” Marty promised him.
“Can we help you?” Jennifer asked as Neil arrived, putting on her sweetest smile.
“I was wondering--” Everyone silently held their breath “– do any of you know the quickest way to get to Goodkind Town from here? The bartender says you’re very well traveled.”

-D: Thank you, I'm sure my fictional counterpart in that universe enjoyed the near heart-attack.-
Hey, he was the only "in-law" I could think of to throw in! My original idea was actually to involve Victor's parents, but that didn't fit the theme as well.
-VD2: Technically, this doesn't either -- I don't believe even that version of ourselves married Jill.-
Yeah, but they were engaged, which is closer than anyone else has gotten. This is one of the few fics to feature everybody in the scene -- though I don't think I have a single fic so far where everyone talks. I'm planning on them all speaking for 12, but until then. . . *shrug* Maybe 11, too, depending on how I do it. Also, I'm sorry if the end seems a bit abrupt -- that just seemed to be the best place to end with the joke. I toyed for a bit with having them provide directions/say they didn't know, and Neil walking away before tossing a "Nice seeing you again, Emmett," over his shoulder, but it never solidified.
-M: That probably would have just given them a heart attack for real.-
Heh, yeah.

It's definitely winter now -- the skin on the back of my hands is doing the whole "cracked and bleeding" bit. Blah. *wishes the warm temperatures were -- here, as they never really arrived in full during the summer* Send a little of that warm hair our way, Moose!
