In honor of the occasion, you get a shortfic:

Flyin’ High
“Woohoo!”
Gwen clung tightly to Harry’s back as they zipped past the buildings, hair streaming out behind her. Part of her couldn’t believe this was actually happening. “This is incredible!” she shouted above the wind. “And you built this yourself?”
“Yup! I mean, I had Dad’s old plans, but – well, his glider was a lot different,” Harry called back, glancing back at her briefly.
“So I heard,” Gwen nodded, adjusting her grip slightly. “I think I like yours better, though.” She grinned at the sky. She would have never guessed, back when Peter first introduced her to Harry, that someday it would lead to her riding with him on a incredibly advanced hoverboard throughout the skies of New York. She couldn’t say that she thought it was a bad outcome.
Motion to their left and a flash of red caught both their eyes. Harry slowed the SkyStick down. “Pete? That you?”
A familiar red-suited figure landed on the wall nearest to them. He had his own passenger – Mary-Jane was clinging to his back. “Hey guys! Didn’t realize you were out around here too.”
“Gwen wanted to see how the SkyStick handled,” Harry said, grinning. “You two out for a romantic swing?”
“Sort of – armed robbery at the café,” Mary-Jane said, in a rather resigned tone.
“Oooh,” Gwen said, grimacing. “Anybody hurt?”
“No, Pete took the guy out pretty quickly,” Mary-Jane assured her, patting Peter’s shoulder.
“Yeah, and then I decided to take her web-swinging to make up for the fact that the bad guys went after her again,” Peter nodded. Gwen got the impression he was rolling his eyes under there.
“Could have been worse, tiger – at least it wasn’t a supervillain this time,” Mary-Jane told him.
“How are you staying on like that?” Harry asked, frowning. “Don’t your arms get tired?”
“Web seat belt, basically,” Mary-Jane explained, pointing out the shining white band running around her and Peter’s middles. “You might want to look into something like that for you and Gwen.”
“Actually, this has some sort of force field that locks your feet in place,” Gwen said, looking down.
“Really? Har, you gotta let me have a look at that thing,” Peter said, sounding quite intrigued.
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” Harry suddenly grinned rather mischievously. “Hey, race you to the Empire State building. Last one buys pizza.”
“You’re on!” Peter shot out a web line and swung away, Mary-Jane letting out a delighted shriek. Harry followed in hot pursuit, Gwen laughing as she hung on tight. Damn, knowing superheroes was cool.

-VD2: I take it this is AU.-
LOL, yeah. It requires a bit of explanation. . . . You see, I kind of ship Harry/Gwen. What's so weird about that, you ask?
Well, I don't read the comics. I ship them movieverse.

They never met in movieverse. I'm pretty much shipping them off a throwaway line in the novelization where Peter mentions he was thinking that Gwen could be a good match for Harry, if only she wasn't being stalked sort of having a thing with Eddie and he could actually TALK to Harry. I think the only thing that keeps this pairing from being weirder than Victor/Alice is the fact that Harry and Gwen actually share a canon.
Aaanyway, this drabble's sort of based on the idea that Peter did end up introducing Gwen to Harry, hoping they'd hook up. I haven't quite decided yet whether this world's Harry either didn't go the Goblin Junior route in the first place, choosing to try the hero route instead to make up for his father's misdeeds (I saw this in a fanfic once, thought it was a cool idea), or if having Gwen around provided an extra rock for Harry to help finally fight off his father's ghost and, after his one attempt on Peter, finally go good. Either way, as you can see, he and Peter like to take their girlfriends on flights around the city. I added the idea about a "web seat belt" and the SkyStick's foot force field to make it a little safer on the poor girls. Because, really, talk about DANGEROUS. Romantic and exciting, but dangerous.

Hope you like it! Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] anonymoose_au!

LOL! Thanks! That was great! :OD

In the comics at least Harry and Gwen did go out briefly. In fact, Harry liked Gwen quite a bit...but as with MJ, she liked Peter more.

And Harry's eventual wife Liz originally crushed on Peter too. For a nerd that guy's a babe magnet!

You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it! :D

Awww, I see. And really? Sheesh, yeah, Peter gets all the girls.

At least Harry Minimate has a Gwen. :p Though it occurs to me that I don't have an MJ for any of my Petermates. Hmmm.
