crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
The darn things are plaguing us lately. Mom and I had to run home from our walk today because one rolled in early (luckily it rolled out pretty quickly as well). So far, there's none on the scene, but it's said that we're gonna get more tonight, and that there will be scattered ones tomorrow. I'm really just tired of nasty weather.
-D: It's not all bad -- most of the summer's been nice. A lot better than last year.-
Oh yeah, last year we had a thunderstorm every fifteen seconds. At least things are nicer this year.
Anyway, quiet sort of Saturday -- watched "Up" with director's commentary since I hadn't seen it in a while. Ahh, such a nice movie. . . . Also got some more written on "The Tale." Now that I've broken my slump with "There's Always Tomorrow," I seem to be getting back into a writing groove. Maybe I can actually complete some of these unfinished projects.
-VD2: And post some others.-
I know, I know, "Cinder-Marty."
-HD: Not just that -- you have Alice fics to post!-
O.o? I'm not done with -- oh, shit, the Tim Burton's AiW stuff! I'd forgotten!
-HD: *frowns mightily at me*-
I got distracted trying to get my brain back in gear on the other stuff!
-OD: *Albert* She can ignore those fics all she wants if she's working on ours. Albert, that's not nice.-
LOL, I have kept everybody waiting, haven't I? Trust me, I'm gonna do my best to write something on each of these things regularly.
Speaking of fic, I think it's been a while since I posted a 30 Dances:

4. Twirl – You Spin Me Right Round
“Whee-hee-hee!”
Alice chuckled as Victor whirled Lucy around the living room. It was so cute, seeing them together. “Again, again!” Lucy cried as they came to a stop.
“Not right now, Lucy,” Victor said, setting her down and leaning on a nearby chair for support. “Daddy’s gotten rather dizzy.”
“I’m not surprised,” Alice said, going over to him. “You were doing that with Chester not too long ago.”
“Yes,” Victor confirmed, blinking a few times to clear his head. He peered at the little bundle in Alice’s arms with a smile. “Do you think she’ll want the same when she gets older?”
“Probably,” Alice smirked, looking down at Lorina. “She already quite likes being bounced.”
“Spinning is fun!” Lucy proclaimed. “You should try, Mummy!”
Alice and Victor regarded each other. “Well, there is a certain pleasure in it,” Alice said, offering Victor her hand.
He took it and led her in a slow twirl. “I know,” he agreed. “Remember when we’d dance together on rainy afternoons?” He pulled her close, being careful not to squish Lorina between them. “Just me and you and the gramophone, with Chester slumbering in his crib. . . .”
“Mmm,” Alice nodded. “Those were nice days.”
Lorina suddenly started bawling. The reason why quickly became apparent as the stench hit them. “Yikes! I’d better go change her,” Alice said, wrinkling her nose.
“Please do,” Victor said, covering his as he stepped away. “Goodness, how do babies produce such a smell?”
“I haven’t the slightest idea.”
“Spin me again, Daddy? Please?” Lucy asked, pulling at Victor’s pant leg.
“Oh, all right.” Victor smiled at the departing Alice as he picked Lucy up. “I think you’ve been supplanted as my dance partner.”
Alice giggled. “I don’t know,” she said saucily. “We might have time for a private dance later. If we’re lucky.” She exited, humming to Lorina.
“Private?” Lucy repeated, tilting her head at Victor curiously.
Victor tried not to blush. “I’ll, er, explain when you’re older. Now, here we go. . . .”

I've been kind of in a family life mood, so have a slice of life from the Solicitor's Ward-verse Victor and Alice.
-TTV: *smiles* It seems a nice life.-
It is -- I don't torture my characters ALL the time. This is set in 1882 or thereabouts, since that's when Lorina is born. *looks up exact date* Sometime after August 21st, 1882, yeah. Chester would be about five, Lucy about three. As you can see, the kids love playing with Daddy. I think this is the one fic that focuses a bit more on the daughters of the family, as opposed to Chester. I like Lucy and Lorina, of course, I just tend to focus on Chester since he gets born to more Victor/Alices. Not much to say -- it's pretty much just an average day in their lives. I wasn't sure what to do with "Twirl" for a while until I hit upon the whole "kids like to be spun around" thing. I remember enjoying that when I was small.
-MF: Doesn't seem to have much to do with dancing, though.-
I know, the relationship to the table theme is a bit of a stretch here. I did have him give her a slow-dance-style twirl, will that do?
-DW: You're the author -- what you say goes.-
Good -- and good thing I'm not doing this officially, either, then.
As for the title -- oh, come on, I'm NOT going to use the Dead or Alive song? XD It's like a law!

Oh, and while I'm thinking of Alice things again -- I think I've realized one of the things in specific I don't like about the sequel look of Alice.
Her hair color's wrong.
In this teaser trailer and the screenshots, it looks to be black. But in the original Alice, she was a redhead! Very dark red in-game, lighter red/brownish color in trailers and official art. Consistency, American McGee! I understand it's a whole new art style, but you could at least keep her hair the same!
