crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

There's a tea party post in the Inkwell, natch. :D Ten years, can you believe it?
-WRM: Now if only the sequel wasn't coming out.-
Oh, you will all survive.
-HD: We will, but will our counterparts?-
. . .Point. Anyway, been a bit of a quiet and gloomy day. I started my first playthrough on Hard in honor of the occasion. I am already regretting it.
-D: Oh? Why?-
BOOJUMS. Those bastards are suddenly a LOT harder to kill without the ice wand. I can't tell you how many times I died in the Fortress of Doors trying to fend them off. Bastards. . . .
-VD: You'll adapt.-
Not fast enough for my liking, I'm sure. At least I'm at the Skool, and on the verge of getting the croquet mallet. Ahhh, sweet sweet flamingo-head. . . .
Anyway, we should celebrate here too. Anybody up for a 30 Dances?

28. Masquerade – How Strange
Victor offered her his hand again. “Shall we?”
Alice took it with a smile. Victor felt his heart flutter quite pleasantly.“Let’s.”
He nodded and pulled her closer, putting his arm around her waist as she did the same with him. She continued to smile at him as they started their waltz again. Oh, she has such a beautiful smile, Victor thought. I wish I could see the rest of her face. Why did this dance have to be a masquerade?
Of course, if it wasn’t, you might not have had the courage to ask her to dance at all,
a little voice reminded him. Not without that veil of anonymity. And you can see her smile, and those gorgeous eyes. You really shouldn’t complain.
No, I shouldn’t,
Victor agreed with himself. I’m a very lucky man. Here I am, dancing with a sweet young lady, who actually seems to understand my problems –
And who didn’t run when I tried to kiss her.

He had to fight off a blush at that. He still couldn’t believe he’d done that! He had a lot of nerve, trying to kiss a girl he’d only just met! What had he been thinking? It – it was just – she’d been so close, so warm. . .and the way she’d been looking at him. . . . Admit it, you thought she was going to kiss you back, that little voice whispered. It’s not too late to find out. . . .
Victor shoved that thought away in a hurry. Such things simply weren’t done, especially between couples who barely knew each other. What he should be doing was concentrating on not tripping or stumbling and ruining their dance.
Except – he wasn’t sure what it was, but dancing with her felt – easy. It had been a little awkward at first, of course, adapting to new partners, but now, after their talk, and that near-kiss. . . . Dancing with her just felt – right. He knew how she moved now, how to lead her to best effect. Feeling a bit bold, he pulled her into another spin. This time, she executed it perfectly, causing them both to grin with pride. (Victor pushed away another thought that said it would have been nicer if she’d tripped and fallen on him again.)
They continued to revolve around the dance floor, breaking away from the other couples to move to some hidden beat of their own. The music seemed to follow them, building itself up into something that sounded practically magical. Victor felt his boldness increase with it. He began to add grander and grander flourishes to his steps, whirling Alice around like a professional. She matched him with surprising grace, almost like she was urging him on. Soon the other couples cleared away, leaving the middle of the floor to them, to spin and twirl as they liked. Not that either of them noticed, too caught up in the thrill of the waltz to even register others. Finally, as he lifted her for another spin, a rather stunned-looking Alice gasped, “I thought you said you were clumsy!”
And for a moment, all Victor could think was, Yeah – so did I.

More waltzing, of course! And a fic from Victor's perspective, figures. :p Anyway, this is a scene that'll show up in "Love Will Find A Way," the Victor/Alice companion story to "Cinder-Marty." When I saw the prompt "Masquerade," I knew I would have to do something with these two at the masked ball. I'd adapted part of the dance scene from Enchanted for their first dance together, so it only seemed right to use that as the story. You get Alice's perspective in the fic itself.
-TD: You do like making him a good dancer, don't you?-
Hey, come on -- these stories wouldn't work with him as a clumsy oaf! This way everybody gets to have fun. Anyway, not too much to say beyond that. I tried to capture the whole "magical" vibe they get from being with each other -- I hope it comes through. And the title is from the Emilie Autumn song of the same name -- I thought it fit.

All right, now on to rewatch some Helloween Nightmare Playthroughs. :D
