crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (feeling sparky/creative)

Not much to talk about today -- I watched "Robin Hood: Men In Tights" and fooled around on the Internet and worked a bit on Winter Bingo drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] 8butterflyboy8. Also watched the latest Nerd vid, which is about one of the dullest games ever. You think a game about daydreaming would be fun, but that game really sucks all the life out of the concept.

Anyway, since I don't have much to talk about in terms of stuff going on in real life or on the net, I thought I'd babble on about statting out some of my favorite fictional characters as tabletop RP characters. Specifically, as World of Darkness characters. I did a little of this back when I learned about the Changeling: The Lost line from Geno and his take on it with the BTTF characters. When I started creating what would be [livejournal.com profile] clockwork_doc and [livejournal.com profile] museicalmarty, I worked a little on what I thought their stats would be in the WoD. Of course, Clockwork in particular moved away from being just BTTF/WoD Changeling characters, so I never actually completed anything besides some basic Attribute scores.

Now, thanks to TV Tropes, I've learned about a fan-made line that naturally grabbed my attention: Genius: The Transgression. It's about mad scientists, and warping reality, and all sorts of good stuff. And since I learned about this while I was writing "Secundus," I thought it might be fun to do the stats for Doc and Victor. I threw in Alice after reading one of the templates for a character (what emotion basically drove them over the edge) and thought, "Oh Geez, this is so her." So far, I haven't gotten much down, but considering this is just for shits and giggles, I'm not overworried about it. But there is one area I'd like to talk about a bit.

Virtues and Vices

I've been thinking hard about these, trying to figure out how they fit. I mean, each character has their good and bad points, but HOW are they good or bad? It's a bit tricky when you have to fit them into one choice out of seven for each category. And every time I think I have a handle on it, I reread the descriptions and start second-guessing myself. Like, Doc's Virtue MIGHT be Fortitude, but it could also be Faith or Hope. Alice's Vice MIGHT be Wrath, but one could make a case for Sloth too. These are multifaceted characters, and I don't want to do anyone a disservice.

So, if anyone wants to offer up their thoughts on the matter, I'd be interested. Our characters are:
Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown
Victor Van Dort
Alice Liddell

And your choices are:
Virtues:
Charity
Faith
Fortitude
Hope
Justice
Prudence
Temperance

Vices:
Envy
Gluttony
Greed
Lust
Pride
Sloth
Wrath

Never RPed it, though I own a lot of the Changeling: The Lost line. Creepy stuff, yet so enjoyable. It was interesting, seeing where Doc and Marty (and Victor) would fit into the archetypes and such. (If you're wondering what I made Victor -- Darkling Gravewight. It just seemed right.)

LOL. I suppose Temperance might make sense -- it's all about balance. I was thinking Fortitude because he's hard to really put down for the count -- always pressing on. I'm having a little trouble with his vice too -- Pride MIGHT be okay, but really, it's hard to pin down. His main failing to me is that he doesn't always plan well. I mean, when he plans well, he plans WELL, but let's face it, sometimes he just runs off emotion. Hmmm.

Yeah, I was always thinking Alice for Wrath. The reason I mentioned Sloth was the catatonia thing, but that's honestly more of a derangement she earned after the death of her parents. Hope doesn't sound bad -- I was also thinking Fortitude for her because, despite every stumbling block put in her way, she never backs down. When the Queen tells her that "if you destroy me, you destroy yourself," she STILL went in to fight her.

Hmmm, Justice. . .protecting the innocent, doing the right thing. . .yeah, I could see that for Victor, if only because of the fork fight and "I made a promise." I was vaguely thinking Charity for him, because of his willingness to give up his life for Emily near the end of the movie. I picture Victor as a guy who likes to help. LOL, Gluttony WOULD be LOL-worthy vice-wise -- the problem is, that bottomless pit of a stomach of his is just my fanon. Envy sounds more like Nell, but Sloth could work. Victor's more on the reactive side -- he tends to run from situations that make him uncomfortable. (You think that might also cover him putting his foot in his mouth?)
