Went with a fairly general, short one, since I'm not sure which of any of the others I want to talk about next, and besides it's getting late:

25. Writer’s Choice: Fish
“I must tell you, Alice, there is something about your household that I don’t understand.”
“What’s that, Edith?”
“Whenever you serve dinner, you tend to omit the fish course. And when you do have it, you never serve any to Victor. Why is that?”
“Oh, Victor doesn’t like fish, that’s all.”
“He doesn’t like fish??”
“Yes. Why is that so shocking?”
“Aren’t Victor’s parents William and Nell Van Dort? The ones with the incredibly successful cannery? Hasn’t he grown up around fish?”
“Yes. That’s exactly the trouble.”
“. . .I don’t follow.”
“He grew up around fish. As in, seeing it cleaned, seeing it packed, seeing it cooked, smelling it constantly, eating it regularly, hearing about it day in and day out. . . .”
“Ooohhh. . . .”
“Yes.”
“So – he just refuses to eat fish now?”
“I can occasionally tempt him into trying a kind he hasn’t had before – which, as you might guess, isn’t often. But other than that, he won’t touch the stuff. Not that I really care, of course. Why do you care? Does it bother you for some reason?”
“Oh, no, I was just a bit puzzled. Especially since your husband appears to be a bottomless pit otherwise.”
“Oh, Edith, you have no idea. . . .”

-TTV: You are never in a million years going to let the idea of me eating massive quantities of food go, are you?-
It's funny! Anyway, I pretty much HAD to do a fish prompt, considering what Victor's folks do for a living. And, considering I've well-established Victor's dislike for fish BECAUSE of what his folks do for a living, this thing was pretty easy to write. This is a SW-verse fic, featuring Alice's old friend Edith (named for a sister of the real Alice). Edith's backstory involves moving to France and marrying a Frenchman -- here she and her husband are paying Alice and Victor a visit. It's just a bit of friendly girl-chat. I did make an edit near the end, though -- originally, Alice used Snark as an example of a type of fish she'd gotten Victor to eat. I rethought it after realizing Alice and Edith probably aren't QUITE close enough anymore for Alice to spill to her that Wonderland is real.
-VM: Hang on, then where is this taking place? Don't that Alice and Victor LIVE in Wonderland?-
They do, but they maintain a small residence in the "real" world to keep themselves on the grid and to visit Outerland friends. It wouldn't do for them to just disappear entirely from the face of the earth. It all works out one way or another.

In other news, the Sunday prompt over at

charloft directed people to a LOL-like event over at

charloft_rpg. I finally went ahead and joined with Lucy and Butterfly Boy so they could eat weird Easter eggs. Butterfly Boy is now rather taller than before, and Lucy's feeling rather green -- literally. Also, she has flower-growing feet.
-RPD: *shakehead* Should have known you'd never pass up a LOL like that.-
-TTV: At least Butterfly Boy is still clothed.-
Not that mean -- at least not for his first outing. And certainly not so soon after that angstfic on Thursday.
And that's about it for today. Yes, I know, my weekends are so exciting.

I know, but the history paper at least sounds interesting -- one of the prompts you can do is an examination of marriage.
