crossover_chick: picture of Alice (Wonderland) in front of the swirling purple Wonderland tunnel (AMA: Alice down the rabbit hole)

Done in list form because I'm rather tired and busy catching up:
-->Trip to mall was uneventful. I ended up bringing along Victor Plush, Alice Dolly, and my camera on the off-chance Gamestop would have an Alice display that I could get Alice Dolly's picture with.
-->Gamestop not only didn't have a display, they almost didn't have Alice! Their PC games section up there is pitifully small, and for a moment I thought they didn't have it. Then I spotted some copies of the game on various platforms on the wall behind the counter. Turns out there was ONE PC copy left, and fortunately it wasn't spoken for. Whew!
-->Did a small wander around Newbury. As Alice wasn't quite as expensive as I thought, I went ahead and got the DVD of Tangled. Hey, the price had dropped by about half, I can afford it. Also got a pin reading "The best things in life are freaky. . .really, really freaky." XD
-->Lunch at Subway -- Chicken Bacon Ranch. Om nom nom. Also took some pictures of the dolls posing with my new purchases, because I felt I ought to do something with them. Alice with the game, Victor with Tangled. (Twitpic because VictorPlush posted these to his Twitter. :p They also hung out on a bench together.)
-->Hit Dave & Buster's -- Wednesday means half-price games! Won tickets, got a great score on Guitar Hero (thank God for beginner mode), and used VictorPlush for the face in MarioKart (they have a feature where they put your face in the game). Most hilariously creepy thing ever -- basically he was a gray blob with big white eyes.
-->Before leaving, visited Ben & Jerry's and got a Cookie Cookie shake -- Milk & Cookies and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream mixed together in a shake. Tasty! :D
-->Ride home also uneventful. Got home, met Mom as she was leaving for work, went upstairs, played a little "catch up on the internet," took my shower, and installed Alice.
-->Alice's installation took FOREVER. Copying files has never been so slow. But hey, it worked.

-->The butterfly image on the back of the "enter your name for gametimes" screen is pretty! I may have to hunt down a screenshot.
-->The Alice image on the loading screen? Animated. Just a little, though -- her hair blows in a breeze, and her eyes move around.
-->There is a distinct butterfly motif all around this game. Victor/Alice: fucking meant to be because of butterflies.
-->We don't get the original game's casebook, but we do get a decent summary of Alice's life before and during game 1. Poor Dr. Wilson -- apparently he's sick these days too. :(
-->Most horrible BTTF/Alice connection ever -- the fire that killed Alice's family apparently happened on November 5th, 1863. (I think a different date was given in the storybook game, but the actual video game trumps it.)
-->Onto the game itself -- I'm still getting used to the controls. The mouse was WAAAAY too sensitive at first -- I'd move it a little and the view would fly around all over the place. I had to adjust it. Some of the controls are familiar from the first game, but I'm still getting used to the dodge and stuff.
-->Mild annoyance -- Alice doesn't turn with the camera anymore. It's possible to zoom completely around her. While that's cool for closeups of her expression and suchlike, it does make it difficult to tell which direction is "forward" sometimes. (Hey, another BTTF connection -- I have a similar complaint about the way Marty moves in the Telltale Game!)
-->London is horrible and awful and so so beautiful in it's own disgusting way. I'm interacting with everything that can be interacted with.
-->Bumby's first name appears to be Angus. And from the memories I've collected of him, he is the biggest dick alive. *wonders if he and Edna Strickland will be able to do a double act*
-->The Vale of Tears -- most beautiful place ever. Seriously, I could have spent the entire game there and been happy. And then it all starts falling apart and jetting great globs of black oil and -- D: D: D:
-->Sign of obsession -- wanting to solve a jumping puzzle that's giving you trouble instead of eating your dinner. I didn't eat until almost seven. XD
-->The Boojums/Snarks of this game so far? BOLTERFLIES. They gang up on you and constantly respawn and and and *raaaage*
-->In case it isn't obvious, I'm still getting used to the combat as well. The main problem is, certain features can only be used in certain modes, and I can never remember what works when. . .I'll figure it out eventually, I'm sure, but yikes.
-->When I finally quit for the night shortly before 10, I was in the Doormouse's section of the Hatter's Domain. He's become quite the creepy bastard, if the dialogue I've been hearing is any indication. Before you ask, I'm still in Chapter 1. I get the feeling long game will be LOOONG.

Okay, time to take a break and watch some Nostalgia Critic, I think. Old Vs New: True Grit tonight!

I got Tangled from Netflix that I haven't watched yet. A coworker says the horse is the funniest part so he keeps bugging me to watch it.

I was gonna say something else...Oh! Did the new game interfere in the canon of the old or do you not know yet?

Edit: Oh, and if any good Let's Plays pop up, let me know.

Oh, Max is great! You'll like him when you get your chance to see it. :)

It's a little too early to tell, though it looks like they've discarded the happy ending of the old. Rather than a triumphant exit from the asylum, Alice was basically told, "Okay, you're as sane as we can get you -- go forth and be prosperous or something." Which is more realistic, granted, but still a little sad in my opinion. :( And of course the realms look different, but I'm giving them that one because its WONDERLAND -- Alice just has to imagine them different. :p

I probably won't be watching any of those for a while -- though apparently Helloween's gonna be doing one. :D
