crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Hope you're not bored with it, because this is probably going to be the main feature of my journal for a while.

-->Started up game, and I seem to have been advanced slightly. O.o Maybe the game saved somewhere else without me noticing before? Come on, MR, don't glitch out on me now.
-->Still, can't complain too much -- hooray for plot!
-->Made it to the Walrus and the Carpenter's theater after more jumping and sidequests for memories and pig snouts. We're getting more of Radcliffe the lawyer/solicitor/what-have-you this go-round. He too appears to be a bit of a dick. *pokes everyone of Alice's acquaintance*
-->Carpenter proves to be a scary guy with piercings and tattoos and NAILS NAILED INTO THE BACK OF HIS HAND GAAAAH. He acts genial, but his first words to Alice are "go get me this, this, and this!" Walrus just sleeps through this one.
-->First item to retrieve -- a script from an octopus. The octopus is grumpy, has a creepy face, and NOOOO sense of personal space. And forces us to play hide and seek while indulging in more puzzles. Fortunately, when the textures on the bottles glitch, he proves easy to find. XD
-->One annoying puzzle involved having to use Clockwork Rabbits to hold down pressure pads so you could fire at switches. I managed to get two, but could NOT get the third. Finally, in frustration, I tried firing at the switch from behind.
It worked. XD Whether from clipping issues or what, I don't care.
-->After getting what we needed from Octoboy, we proceeded into assignment two -- getting the music. We have a literal bottle fish, who is very out of tune because his pipes (where he gets his music from) are all blocked up. Alice asks him why he doesn't clear the mess out himself, but he whines about his vocal cords. Alice is not impressed, but goes off to fight Ruin, Cannon Crabs, and Snarks, and clear up the pipes.
-->And after all that, the bastard ropes us into a DDR-style minigame with the arrow keys. Forutnately it's short and not that hard to pick up.
-->Third task -- wake up the Oysterettes performing in the show! This involves fighting lots of annoying monsters. And for the star, a sliding-blocks puzzle to reassemble a poster. I wanted to beat her with my hobby horse because of all the whining. "Collect all the blocks! Hurry up! Help me put this poster together!" Bitch, I have to fight this annoying cannon crab and his buddy for one of your blocks, SHUT UP before I introduce you to the Hobby Horse.
-->American McGee: instructions on how to work your minigames would be appreciated. It took me way too long to figure out I needed to use spacebar to slide the blocks.
-->Tasks finished, show revealed to be about the Tweedles' famous poem, Alice calls Carpenter (now riding Walrus) out on being a bastard. Carpenter basically says, "Don't give a crap, have fun fighting ghosts."
-->Fighting ghosts is NOT fun, as there's a new kind that now sneaks up on you and stabs you from above. At least I seem capable of hitting them at the same time, so. . .
-->One old sailor begs Alice's help in getting his crew back. This game should be called "Alice: Fetch Quests Galore"
-->Alice, despite her annoyance, goes ahead and goes to fetch his three fellow sailors. This involves fighting their ghosts, then following a glowing seahorse around a dangerous pathway until you smash open a chest and free their real soul.
-->First time I did this, I didn't realize you had to follow the glowing horsey. It got very black very fast and I did not like that. Especially since it sounded like the Infernal Train was suddenly on my ass. . . .
-->Fighting a Lost Soul ghost WITH Drifting Ruin annoying me? Buh. Hysteria saves the day, as usual.
-->Game stopped working for some reason right after I rescued Sailor 2 -- fortunately, it crashed right after an autosave. :p I might go back later and get Sailor 3.
-->Visual effect I should have mentioned before now: whenever Alice starts getting seriously hurt, cracks appear around the edges of the screen. As she gets worse, they start glowing red. It's an interesting effect -- like the enemies are doing damage to your monitor as well as Alice.

And in other news, I've found the weirdest thing on Tumblr: A cut song for Victor from Corpse Bride!
-TTV: O.o??-
Yeah -- according to the person who posted it, anyway. It's called "Erased," and Danny Elfman sings it. Judging from the lyrics, this would have come when Victor learned the news about Victoria's marriage to Lord Barkis and was moping about in the coffins behind the Ball & Socket. It's sad, all about how he thought Victoria was the one and how he was hoping for a better life -- and then this other guy comes in and takes his place. It ends with him musing that maybe he belongs down in the Land of the Dead.
-TTV: *nodnods thoughtfully* Sounds accurate.-
Indeedy. Give it a listen, it's interesting.
-M: *teasingly* Filing it away for use in the Travelerverse?-
LOL, dunno. *wonders what Alice would make of CB's semi-musical verse*
All right, a final note before I leave: Happy Father's Day! :) We gave Dad his presents last night: stuff for his bike (paint to paint it, a new tire, inflating stuff, that sort of thing). He seemed happy with it. :) Now to figure out what to get him for his birthday. . . .
