Quickie Section!

I was closer to the end of the chapter than I thought when I quit before.
-->Went through the next scroll section -- all about carefully avoiding stuff this time. I did pretty well until one section close to the end. You had to ride this cloud up through a gauntlet of stone heads spitting fireballs. I was jumping all around, trying to figure out the magic way to dodge them. . .
Turns out all I had to do was run to one side or the other of the cloud. *facepalm* Still, I'll take that over archers giving me grief.
-->Get out of the scroll and -- oh, hey, it's the top of the mountain and Caterpillar's hideout! Yay for plot advancement -- boo for realizing that I'm not going to finish my collecting, and that I missed a Radula Room. Whoops. Ah well, that's what replays are for.
-->Near Caterpillar's temple, if you shrink by the left-hand pillar, the Spicy Horse people have left a bit of graffiti of their logo. XD No matching EA Games logo on the other side, unfortunately.
-->Get in the temple, and -- it's a statue? Alice voices my own displeasure. Caterpillar accuses Alice of not knowing what's real and letting others think for her, basically, which gets Alice annoyed. Have these two EVER had a conversation that didn't end with one of them getting pissy at the other?
-->Floor cracks open (shades of when Hatter sent us into his domain in the first game!) and -- Caterpillar's hanging upside-down in a cocoon as he delivers wisdom to Alice. Okay, American McGee and Tim Burton obviously get together, share ideas, and then cackle maniacally when fans of one accuse the other of rip-offs.
-->Caterpillar and Alice discuss her situation, and Caterpillar tells her to go talk to the Queen. Alice is skeptical about what the Queen could do for her (I am too, remembering those tentacle-looking things leaking Ruin), but Caterpillar says she's someone Alice once knew and loved. Alice is still skeptical, but no further objections can be raised as the cave collapses and Caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
-->And -- back in London! And we're -- in JAIL?! The hell?
-->Two policemen helpfully fill in the backstory -- Alice was apparently being all ranty and ravy about insects and the railroad, so they brought her to a cell for her own safety. One mentions Bumby throws a fit if Alice is kept overnight, and recounts the incident where he found that tidbit out -- he was bringing Alice somewhere when they came across Jack Splatter being arrested for murdering/injuring someone. Jack accused Alice of doing so, Alice shot back with what a lowlife he was, then, after getting up a good head of steam, fainted. The guy brought her to the cells just so she'd be safe. Bumby threatened his job and his arse if he did it again -- the policeman said he could have the former. :p They let Alice out, and that's where I quit.
So yeah, we're done with the Mysterious East! (Until I go back and search out all the stuff I missed, anyway.) Next up is Queensland, but first, BTTF: The Game Episode 5!
Actually, first is a discussion of an idea I had the other night. We've got DLC skins for all the weapons, each with a special power:
Vorpal Cleaver: Halves damage taken by 50% (looks like a giant cleaver, natch)
Octogrinder: Increases total ammo (It's a squid in a shell -- a nautilus, that's the word)
Knightmare: Heals you with every hit (creepy as hell skeletal reindeer head)
Catnip Cannon: Increases damage down by 50% (it's blue with a yellow eye, a big grin, and an earring XD)
This, combined with a tumblr post where I posted a picture of Victor vs The Queen and mused he'd probably love the Blunderbuss about now, led me to wonder -- could you make skins so that Alice's old weapons could be more or less used in the new game? Here's my breakdown:
Vorpal Blade: Already ported over, so no worries there
Cards: Card-themed Pepper Grinder, shoots cards that home in on target
Croquet Mallet: Flamingo Hobby Horse, not sure what the special power would be
Jackbomb: Jack-in-the-box themed Teapot Cannon, shoots flaming bombs that send out brief jets of fire in all directions
Ice Wand: Ice-themed Teapot Cannon, shoots ice bombs that freeze target/ice-themed pepper grinder, shoots ice missiles that freeze target
Jacks: Jacks-themed Pepper Grinder, shoots jacks that remain to pummel target for a moment
Demonic Dice: I can't really think of a port for these, and I never really used 'em much, so. . . .
Jabberwock's Eye Staff: A properly-reskinned Hobby Horse, when you smack someone they're surrounded briefly by a purple glow that hurts them further
Blunderbuss: Gun-themed Pepper Grinder, shoots a missile that automatically makes it overheat, but annihilates the target and anything nearby
Deadtime Watch: Wouldn't really need a change -- just have to be a special hidden item
I think about these things so you don't have to. :p
