crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

First, your dose of Alice spoilers:

-->Started at the beginning of the pink tentacle area again. Did the switch thing, made my way over to where I had to defeat that pink Ruin. Game started to stutter again, so I paused, slipped into Config, and turned off a lot of the fancy graphic stuff. Seemed to run at least a little better after that. Game doesn't look quite as pretty, natch, but the graphics are still really good.
-->Got a Liddell memory: Alice's mother pleading with Alice to save them. I dunno if this is an actual memory or Alice's guilt talking.
-->More bouncing and twirling up to a keyhole door. And lookit that, branching paths! I wander my way into a room with another Liddell memory. Lizzie's unwanted suitor apparently once followed her into a public bathroom! O.O Yeah -- whatever happened at the Liddell house that night, it involved Alice's sister in a BIG way.
-->Made my way through the other path, activated another pressure pad and switch, found myself playing around with up-and-down puzzles again. Took me forever to get the second half of the room right -- mostly because I wanted a bottle on top of one of the platforms. Curse my "gotta get it all" nature.
-->Made it past that bit, fought some enemies under the Executioner's watchful -- uh, tentacles, as he hasn't got eyes. *eugh* He sent me down another hole, and we had another round of "dodge constantly to run away." Though I accidentally shrank at one point, and I think I might have missed something. Oh well.
-->Fell down an icky-squicky hole to get away, continued exploring the castle. . . .
-->Another chess puzzle! This one with a knight that will kill your pawn if you end up in front of him. Took me a while to get this one -- eventually figured out that if you were behind him, he wouldn't spin around and get you. Then it was just a matter of getting everyone to their destination.
-->Solved that, went through another keyhole door for a bottle. Ended up in a really icky area to get it -- the keyhole was in the middle of a BEATING HEART MASS. *shudder*
-->The other way yielded enemies and a Radula Room! This was one of the "survive for however long" rooms, so I did my usual "run in circles and jump a lot" tatic and came out pretty well. I think I've got the pattern now for these rooms: One room is a riddle or brainteaser from Cheshire, one is a "kill all the enemies" fight, one is "survive for a certain amount of time" room, and one is a minigame specific to the area (for example, Deluded Depths had another round of the HMS Gryphon minigame, while Mysterious East had a scroll section).
-->Since we were going out soon, I quit right after the game saved after the Radula Room. We'll see if I play some more later -- I do have LJ to catch up on. . . .

So yeah, hopefully settling for lesser graphics will make a good difference. Like I said, the game's still really pretty.

As for the other half of my entry title, there's a free trolley that runs around the neighborhood I live in for the tourists. Mom and I were curious about it, so we went for a ride with Dad. The first half of the trip didn't go so well: first, we were nearly plowed down by some idiot going approximately 100 mph when we crossed the street, then the trolley had these two REALLY obnoxious kids on it that kept yelling at each other and -- ugh. They finally got off at the halfway mark, so the second half of the trip was actually pretty nice. We went up some roads I haven't been on in ages, if at all, so it was cool seeing all the scenery. All in all, a nice trip, but I'm a little iffy about doing it again, simply because I don't want another experience with kids like that. (Seriously, most annoying family ever. I wanted to throw them both out the window.)
