Just played through a pretty intense session of Alice. Shall we?
-->Left the platform of the Radula room and continued on my way, pausing to collect some teeth. Continue on, fight some enemies, and -- oh look, I know that burning door! Let's see what's inside.
-->Inside is basically a confirmation of what I'd suspected after getting a few memories. You see, earlier memories and cutscenes said that Lizzie died in her bed -- never even unlocked her door (despite her parents' pleading). In fact, the flames never got to her. BUT, a different memory had Lizzie clearly stating she HATED locked rooms. So why the hell was her door locked?
Well, basically, because whoever started the fire was there to get Lizzie specifically. Alice's speculation is the killer snuck up to Lizzie's, incapacitated or outright killed her, locked her door, then started the fire to basically cover things up. ALL the Liddell family was to die that night, but Dinah showing Alice the path out the window. . . Oh, and it's worth nothing the silhouette of the figure looks really damn familiar. Sort of like. . .Alice's employer.
-->After that disturbing bit of info, we head into -- Oh HEY, I know this place! We've reached that spot where the first gameplay demos were shown! Awesome! Let's move!
-->Actually, let's not, there's a pig snout to collect. Grab that, get the picnic basket, pause the game -- AWESOME, I scored all 11! I've also got almost all the memories, Radula Rooms, and bottles.
-->Anyway, time to continue on through familiar territory. It's useful, knowing more or less what to do in these areas. I've also gotten my teapot cannon fully upgraded, so enemies are definitely not quite as hard anymore. (A lot of them drop the golden "5 at once" teeth now too, so it's gotten REALLY easy to do upgrades.)
-->Kill enemies, score a memory I saw before, continue on down some sidepaths to get bottles and teeth. . .
-->Enemy arena I've already seen number two! However, it proves to be a bit more difficult -- stupid drifting ruin not showing their faces for long enough. Fortunately I have a bit of cover at the entrance, so, although I do have to resort to Hysteria once, I get through.
-->Oh, hi Executioner! I already know how this bit ends, so if you could -- not kill me, that would be ideal.
-->Reload, dodge constantly, and THERE'S my favorite cutscene! SMASH, motherfucker.
-->Time for big old Alice minigame! You walk around smashing and stomping petrified chess pieces and Card Guards so you can destroy the Queen's main towers. Why? Because they're hiding bits of her flesh -- essentially, fleshy hearts. You stomp 'em, she screams, onto the next tower. Though, amusingly, her response to the first stomped heart is "Only a flesh wound!" XD
-->Take care of all three towers, stomp my way up to the main one, and crush her heart. Ew. But it yields a nice cup of Drink Me, and we shrink down again to continue the level proper. One thing to note, though -- Alice does these sections in her blue dress. Dunno why -- maybe a Royal Suit-wearing Alice didn't look quite right attacking the Queen?
-->Anyway, we're inside the main castle walls now, wandering around and -- OH MY GOD EEWWWW! The entrance to her inner chambers is a huge MOUTH with TEETH and a TONGUE and a big Cyclopes EYE -- oh, gross, it's looking at me -- I think I'll delay going in there. . .
-->And good thing too -- there's a memory to be found! It's Lizzie, complaining about her slimy suitor.
Who happens to be named Bumby.
Oh dear lord in Heaven.
-->After THAT disturbing bit of info, it's -- eugh -- into the mouth -- and oh JOY, it's a SLIDE! Fortunately I AM getting better at these: I only fall off once. But DAMN is it disgusting. . . .
-->And then we end up in this extremely FLESHY area with teeth and pulsating goo and a keyhole door hidden inside a beating heart. . . .
-->On the plus side, it leads to the last Radula Room! This one is another giant Alice minigame -- stomp on the Card Guards, rip out the tentacles, take out the tower, and earn another thing of paint. That's 4/4! And I'd have another rose to my health if I'd gotten that missing one in the Mysterious East. Ah well.
I left off right after that Radula Room, as Chester was starting to stutter a little. Time to check out LJ and have a snack while I let him rest and recover.
