Hurricane Preparations Ahoy

Parents spent most of the morning clearing off our deck, with me helping out where I could. We've got water, food (Ramen soup -- God, I can't remember the last time I had that stuff), candles, batteries, and all the other essentials for getting through a major storm.

There's still time to dissipate harmlessly into the atmosphere, Irene. God, I hate all the stress that comes with hurricanes. I wish we could punch them. (And tornadoes. Apparently there's a thread of THOSE too.) Also, why the hell does this shit always happen when I'm getting ready to go get my textbooks? *facepalm*

Anyway, not much happening. We'll see if we get hammered, lose power, all that good stuff. At least my laptop will be good for a little while should the lights go out. (Can't promise I'll make any updates in that case, though. It'll probably be for "emergency checking of news only" to preserve the battery.)

Okay, time to distract myself with YouTube and all that good stuff. At least tomorrow's supposed to be nice.

Have you ever done the hurricane song and dance before? I haven't, so this is pretty exciting for me, although we're expecting probably a long power outage. Which is definitely boo. Good thing I have plenty of books I guess.

Not the full on thing -- we had some tropical storm stuff before, but that wasn't anything to lose sleep over. This is much more serious. I'm not looking forward to the likely power outage, books or no books. >.
