crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)

Actually switched two of the prompts here -- I knew what I wanted to write for Day 4's prompt, so I went ahead and made it Day 3 to save myself some trouble. Allow me to present it to you:

Hey, Doc,
How are you? Are you and Clara happy, living in the Old West? What the hell am I saying, you must be. You told me that it was your favorite time period. Are you still making crazy inventions? I hope you got that ice maker of yours to spit out more than one cube at a time. And be careful with the Presto Logs – you don’t want to blow up your shop the way you blew up that train boiler!
How are the kids? Jules and Verne, right? Why am I not surprised. . . I bet they’re great. Just as smart as you. You let ‘em help out in the lab, or does Clara make you keep them out? I know it can get dangerous helping you sometimes, but I hope she does let them play assistant. I always thought it was a blast. And you’re a hell of a better teacher than most of the ones I had in actual school. (Uh, no offense to your wife.) Is it still just the two of them, or have you had more? I dunno why, but I kind of picture you as a guy who ends up with a daughter. I have no idea what you’d name her, but still.
Not much is happening with me. I’m doing okay in school (really good in history class, no surprise), though I’m out for Christmas vacation. We spent the day decorating the tree, all five of us. We all had a great time hanging ornaments and throwing tinsel at each other. I still remember Christmases with the old version of my family, and this is a big improvement. Time travel may have screwed up a lot of things for us, but it definitely gave my family a new lease on life. I’ll always be thankful for that, at least. And hey, it got you the girl of your dreams! And a really awesome time-traveling train that –
That I haven’t seen since October 27th.
. . .I don’t even know why the hell I’m writing this, Doc. You’re never gonna see it. If you were coming back, you would be back by now. I guess you’re happier in the Old West than here in 1985. Which I guess is understandable, since people actually seem to like you more back then, but. . .
Do you even miss me? Because I miss you. I miss you like hell, Doc. I miss going over to your lab and helping you out with stuff. I miss listening to your record collection. I miss having Burger King with you. I miss just hanging out. I mean, my life’s way better these days, don’t get me wrong, but. . .it’s not so great without you there. You know that cheesy song “All I Want For Christmas Is You?” Yeah, that – that really sums up my feelings right there. (Without the romance stuff, because ew. And I don’t think Clara and Jennifer would be happy with us.) I just want to see you again. . . .
Anyway – I really hope you’re happy, Doc. Wherever and whenever you are. And just in case – Merry Christmas.
Your friend in time,
Marty

-M: . . .What the hell is this, "have a depressing Christmas?"-
I'm sorry, this is just what popped into my head! It's actually a Game-verse fic, set in the period between the end of Part III and the beginning of Episode 1. As you can see, Marty's feeling quite lonely without his best friend.
-VD: *shakes head* Why the hell didn't that other self of mine visit?-
-VD2: Seems extremely negligent. Marty was a very important part of our lives. I understand he'd want to devote most of his attention to his wife and family, and that he wanted to let Marty have a quiet period, but -- from October to May?-
*shrug* The latest timeline has him living in the 1980s at least part-time, so happily it's not something Marty needs to worry about anymore, at least. As it is, I just wanted to explore how Marty might try dealing with his feelings. Putting them in a fake letter seems like the safest route.
-J: Does he ever show Doc that letter?-
. . .I dunno. Maybe something to explore in one of the later prompts!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed that. I gotta write up some drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] charloft now.

Oh, and in case you noticed -- yes, I switched my website link. I clicked on Back To The Vampire's link the other day, and it (briefly, before McAfee butted in and said "don't think you want to go here") took me to a completely different, very suspicious-looking page. Methinks freewebtown has been taken over or something. So yeah -- looks like one of my projects for the new year is getting my stories set up on my Weebly site. In the meantime, I'm sure you guys can find most of it on FF.net.
