Have some Alice-centered fic for today:

“Lizzie! Come make snow angels with me!”
Elizabeth Liddell looked up from her novel to see her younger sister standing in the sitting room doorway, all bundled up to go out in the snow. “The snow’s just lovely!” she continued, rocking on her heels excitedly. “All soft and fluffy. . .like a big blanket over the earth!”
Lizzie smiled sadly. “I’d love to, Alice, but it’s not exactly proper for young ladies of my age to go romping about in the snow.”
Alice’s face fell. “Oh, but Lizzie. . .I’ve no one else to play with.”
“What about Edith?”
“She’s already gone off to Yorkshire to visit her granny for Christmas.” Alice gave her sister her best pleading look. “Please, Lizzie? I know you have to be a lady and all because you’ve got to be polite to men and get married someday, but can’t we play today? Just for a little while? Because it’s Christmas?”
Lizzie looked at her sister for a long moment. Ten years separated them – Lizzie was just coming into adulthood, while Alice was still very much a child. And yet. . .Lizzie was sure Alice was her closest friend. She was certainly the one who she shared most of her confidences with. And with a lack of young girls either of their ages in the immediate neighborhood. . . . She grinned. “I’ll get my coat.”
Alice clapped her hands, now all excited. “Oh, thank you Lizzie! I’ll see you outside!” She scampered off, leading Lizzie to chuckle and set aside her book. If I ever have a daughter, I want her to be as much like my sister as possible.

-J: . . .This is both so cute and so sad.-
I know, right? I dunno what inspired me to do this, beyond deciding I wanted to tackle Victor and Alice separately at some point. One of the other prompts might feature one of kid!Victor's Christmases for balance. Anyway, I wanted to show off the dynamic between Alice and Lizzie. There may have been ten years between them, but it's clear Lizzie loved her sister and treated her like a friend, even if she wasn't always available as a playmate.
-J2: Poor, poor Lizzie.-
Yeah, tell me about it. She definitely deserved better than she got. They all did. This is why I like imagining her taking her revenge in the Land of the Dead after Bumby gets hit by that train.
-D: I think we can all get behind this. Out of curiosity, is this the Christmas before the fire?-
Yup, shortly after "Looking-Glass." That's partly where I got the line about the snow being like a blanket. One last happy Christmas for Alice. . .
-M: Well, until she ends up with Victor.-
Heh, true.

Getting into the Christmas spirit now -- I got to watch "Blackadder's Christmas Carol," which is one of my traditions. :p What can I say, I like seeing someone being convinced to be a bastard rather than a good man. However accidentally. Fun times, fun times. . .
-VD: Now, are you planning a mall trip for tomorrow? That seemed to be the plan.-
Supposed to rain, so it's been pushed back to after Christmas. No biggie -- mall will probably be less busy then (even if only by a fraction) and I'll have some birthday present gift cards to spend by then too, I'm sure. I'll probably play Sims tomorrow instead. AFTER updating [livejournal.com profile] ink_sec_sims that is. Gotta get on that.
Other things I have to get on -- reblogging on tumblr, answering tags on LJ, and giving my sci-fi final one last look-over before I e-mail it to my professor. (Not due until tomorrow at noon, but since I don't usually wake up until 11 AM these days, best to get it out tonight.) So later everyone!
