Or any cooking show really -- it makes you interested in all the new dishes. Granted, I don't want to eat the food BEFORE Gordon starts making his contribution, but. . .damn it, this episode I'm watching has been selling venison sausage and meat pies, and now I want to try it. (It's also making me want to do themed Sims restaurants, which I have no idea how I'd do, but. . . .)
As for how bad these restaurants were before? One of them on this "double-header" episode (you're seeing Gordon doing two restaurants in a special about supporting local eateries) was serving lamb shanks from a bag. Specifically, vacuumed-sealed lamb shanks with a keep time of a year -- and apparently, they claim you need no refrigeration. The instant Gordon heard that, he actually REFUSED to eat it. First dish he's never tasted, according to him. I cannot blame him. Fortunately, the daughter of the "cook" seems to be a natural talent. We'll see at the end of this episode -- he's going back to see how the place is doing.

Date: 2012-02-14 12:43 pm (UTC)If you like Kitchen Nightmares may I suggest you try Restaurant: Impossible? It's essentially the same thing but
personally I think Robert Irvine is hotter than Gordon RamsayI like it much better (granted I only saw that one episode of KN...). New episodes are on Wednesdays at 9 on Food Network and it repeats a few times during the week.no subject
Date: 2012-02-14 05:21 pm (UTC)Which episode of Kitchen Nightmares? (I assume you saw a US episode.) I might try some Restaurant: Impossible, though I'll probably get my fix from YouTube. I doubt Irvine swears as much as Ramsay, though. :p

I met the owner, Rose, at K Mart the other night. Still have yet to visit the restaurant, though. I actually saw them filming one night while I was going to the YMCA, which is just down the street from the restaurant.
Here's the first episode ever of Restaurant: Impossible:

The later episodes get better (with less bitchy designers) as Robert gets used to the new gig (you can dig around YT for them...I think I saw at least one other full episode somewhere). And no Robert doesn't swear as much as Gordon, though when he does, FN bleeps it, lol.
And I can edit when I select "Check all". *eats LJ*

Date: 2012-02-19 06:32 pm (UTC)As for Restaurant: Impossible -- yeah, that first episode wasn't exactly the greatest. The whole thing with the designers felt a bit like a decorating show gone wrong. I know Ramsay does the whole "remodel the restaurant" thing too, but I kind of prefer the way he does it in the background. Maybe I'll see if I can find something from a later season.
Oh LJ, why do you have to be so broken these days? *sigh*

Date: 2012-02-20 02:11 am (UTC)If you can catch a rerun of the St. James Soup Kitchen episode, that was a really good one. He renovated a soup kitchen in Newark (which is like 20 minutes from me) and got a Dinner: Impossible-style challenge from the mayor.
