If only because I'm doing a rather -- interesting Victor/Alice thread over on tumblr. *nervous giggle* Tends to inspire you shipwise.
-TTV: *puzzled* "Interesting?"-
-DW: Don't ask.-
Yeah. Anyway, 25 Foods:
7. Cinnamon
“Dad, look! That man’s selling treats!”
“Mum, Dad, can we have a cookie? Please?”
Alice and Victor smiled down at the three eager little faces. “I don’t see why not,” Victor said, tousling Chester’s hair. “You’ve all been good.” He led his family over to the man’s stall. “Entschuldigen Sie, sprechen Sie Englisch?” he asked haltingly, hoping he wasn’t mangling the pronunciation too badly.
The man smiled. “Oh yes, enough,” he replied in a thick German accent.
Victor sighed in relief. “Oh, thank you,” he said. “I’m afraid my German’s worse than it should be.” He looked down at the tray. “Edible trilobites?”
“In honor of the Lady,” the man said, pride shining from every pore. “They come in gingerbread, cinnamon, chocolate chip, or trilobite.”
“. . .Cookies that taste like seafood, or actual trilobites?”
“Just cookies today.”
“I think we’ll pass on that last flavor – unless you want to give it a go,” Victor added to his wife.
“I’ll wait for actual seafood, thank you,” Alice laughed.
“I want a gingerbread please!” Vincent said, standing on tiptoe to try and see the tray.
“Gingerbread too!” Lorina nodded.
“I’ll have a cinnamon please, Dad,” Chester requested.
“Two gingerbread and two cinnamon, then,” Victor nodded. He paid the man and collected his baked goods, and the family went off again happily munching. “I think I like Mechanicsburg,” Lorina said.
“They certainly know how to bake,” Victor agreed, licking his lips. “You don’t suppose we could get the recipe anywhere? Or at least a novelty cookie cutter?”
Alice laughed again. “I swear, you’re more excited about the cookies than about all the Inventions this town has to offer.”
“Well, we can get Inventions at home.”
-TD: *laugh* Technically, they could get cinnamon cookies at home too.-
Yes, but probably not cinnamon trilobites. This is a future fic for good old
8butterflyboy8, on a family trip to visit Mechanicsburg. Gotta get the kids acquainted with continental culture, after all. And who wouldn't want to see the hometown of the famous Agatha Heterodyne?
-D: Butterfly Boy seems to end up rather well-traveled in his later years.-
Well, there's a number of places he wanted to see -- Unseen University, Mechanicsburg, Hill Valley, etc. And he also likes to search out new butterflies when he gets the chance. Chasing your entomology work can take you all sorts of strange places. Anyway, this is just a fun thing with Victor and his family as tourists. Hungry tourists.
-VDM: I would have gone for the one flavored like trilobite. Just to see what it tastes like.-
Probably -- I dunno. Crab-like? *shrug* I'd go for a chocolate chip one myself.
-M: I'm surprised Victor didn't.-
The prompt's "cinnamon" -- I felt I had to have him get the same flavor.
Other news -- working on finishing up Carpe Jugulum (good stuff, as always -- oh Verence I just want to hug you), and played a little of EMMETT BROWN, TECHNO-WARLOCK! Who just got a Bronze Pottery badge and raided the Secret Society's pile of cash to get himself a bunch of stuff.
-RPM: Still sore over the burglar?-
More over my own stupidity at not having an alarm. Ah well, at least I managed to replace everything. Next time I play him, he'll be going out on a date with Carmen. Fingers crossed it goes well!
Now, back to tumblr! And maybe to posting a few more Winter Bingo prompts.
