Have A Drabbles88
May. 2nd, 2012 11:25 pmIt's been tweaked, and now I think it's ready to get a smile:

Ahh – it was nice to have the house to one’s self.
Marty put his feet up on the couch, reading through the latest issue of “Got Your Music Monthly.” His parents were out practicing for an upcoming tennis match, Dave was at work (as usual), and Linda was out with one of her many boyfriends. There was nothing for Marty to do but enjoy the fact that his teachers had decided to schedule a professional development day for today. Marty wasn’t sure what that meant, exactly, but he wasn’t going to argue with some extra time off.
He was just about to grab the phone and see if Jennifer wanted to go out somewhere for lunch when he heard a voice outside. Curious, Marty got up and headed to the door. Yeah, there was definitely someone out there. Mumbling something about Biff Tannen, it sounded like. Who’s hanging around here looking for Biff? Marty wondered. Dad doesn’t drag him over to do the car that often. . . . Though that wasn’t half as weird as the voice itself. Specifically, the fact that it sounded a lot like –
Get real, McFly, he thought with a chuckle. It’s probably just somebody you know from school. He opened the door, intending to tell the stranger that it was no use looking for Biff here.
Just in time to see himself standing on the front step.
He’d slammed the door shut before he even knew what he was doing. What the hell was – that couldn’t be – but damn it, he saw that face every day in the mirror. It had to be – but how?! How could – another him – be here? And what was with – his – clothes? It looked like cowboy stuff. . . . Unable to help his curiosity, he opened the door a bit and peeked out. Yup, this Marty apparently thought he was Clint Eastwood. What the hell?
Marty Eastwood stared at him through the crack. “What the – why the hell am I--” He stopped suddenly, raising an eyebrow. “Hey, uh – you,” he said, shifting his weight from foot to foot. “What’s the date?”
“Uh. . .October 17th?” Marty replied slowly, still trying to figure it all out.
Marty Eastwood slapped a hand to his forehead. “Shit! I hit the one instead of the two!”
-M: Smooth move, McFly.-
Indeed. This was inspired by B to the F tumblr (which is basically sporking George Gipe's novelization of BTTF) reminding me of a mistake in the BTTF Part III novelization. Specifically, the fact that the date Doc and Marty go back to is repeatedly stated as October 17th instead of October 27th. As this would have them going back to before the events of the first movie. . . I decided to have a little fun with it. After all, in a high-stress situation like that, mistakes could be made.
-D: What would you do in that situation, Marty?-
-M: I have no idea, honestly. I'd want to make sure you were okay, and maybe avoid some stuff, but I'd also be really worried about causing a paradox. So I'd probably just confuse the hell out of my younger self and worry about everything.-
Sounds like a plan. I chose this prompt because October 17th is a little over a week before the events of the BTTF movies. It also happens to be on a Thursday, hence why Marty got a day off from school so he'd be home to meet his other self. Yeah, weird to schedule a professional development day on a Thursday, but it works well enough for plot purposes. Besides, I had them on the brain after I got one off.
Not much else to say -- just a short comedy piece about a novelization error. God I'm geeky. XD
Hope you enjoyed that! Now I really have to consider bed.
