crossover_chick: Alice in Hysteria mode firing her Pepper Grinder (AMA: SO MUCH RAGE)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
The first two posts under the "alice madness returns" tag are an Ask Alice blog's answer to "what if Bumby had won" in picture form, and a request by a writer of "Bumby wins" fics for more people to write "Bumby wins" fics.

It's so nice when at least one of the Victors in my head suddenly wants to violently stab something. Maybe I'll work again on "Finding You" to calm him down. . .

In other news, the "Bioshock" games may be joining that cadre of games that I fangirl over yet have never played. Other games in this group include "Psychonauts," "American McGee's Alice" before I got my own copy, the "Nightmare House" mods. "Alan Wake" gets an honorable mention for introducing me to a kick-ass band. At any rate, "Bioshock" is interesting, though I'm coming to the conclusion Plasmids and Gene Tonics are really just magical potions. Ooo -- magic that plays with your junk DNA? Would that qualify as a form of Magitek? Because that would be awesome.

And yes, I have thought of how to apply this to Alice, at least. Can't decide if her amazing jumping abilities would be a Plasmid or Tonic. . . It's funny, though -- people have already stuck in her in Little Sister outfits in fanart and mods. And I bet she could give Eleanor a run for her money as a Big Sister. I mean, she already kicks ass without armor.

All right, urge to look up stuff online rising -- let's go do that.

Bioshock is pretty cool. :P I've actually got an RP character of Jack from it ([livejournal.com profile] a_slave_obeys).

I just like all the neat magic excuse me, genetic powers. :p And yeah, I vaguely remember that guy. (Rescuer Jack or Harvester Jack?)

Rescuer, although I've never played Bioshock 2 so it's not canon for him, whatever happens.

Cool. And Jack's not even in Bioshock 2 (except as a sort-of Messiah figure to some of the crazies -- there's cult-based happenings in it), so no worries there!

Yeah, I've heard he wasn't in it for some reason. And my Jack has actually met one of those crazies in the Nexus before, that was interesting. :P

The way I've got him now, he's raising five of the rescued Little Sisters. The only thing that sticks out in my mind for anything headcanony is that he's decided to go vegetarian and have the Sisters be that too, since he can't stand to watch them eat meat anymore.

LOL, oh dear. Yeah, it's about 8 years after the original game, new villain, new protag (a Big Daddy!). . . Tenenbaum makes a brief appearance, though.

Awww. And yeah, I bet he can't. Poor Jack. . .

Welcome to the club. Personally, I've suspected that Alice and Eleanor (of the second game) would get along pretty well...

PS - The playthrough that you're watching - are they harvesting or saving the Little Sisters?

Hehe, thanks. And yeah, I can totally see that. Maybe that's part of the reason Alice keeps getting put into Sister dresses?

Helloween's, you mean? The girl he was playing it with wanted to see a "Harvest" playthrough. However, the Let's Play stops not too long after the Steinman fight. Dunno why. So he only ends up harvesting one little sister. I've seen the endings to the first one in a separate vid, and the "save" ending is so cute. . .

The best one for BioShock 2 (rescue all the Sisters and be merciful to the morality choices) gets better. And by better, I mean (to use Tumblr vernacular) OHGODOHGODOHGODNOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPWHYWOULDYOUDOTHATALLMYFEELSABUCKETFORMYCREYS.

And don't get me started on the ending of Minerva's Den (BioShock 2's DLC)...

Oh yeah, I've seen that one too. And the tumblr vernacular is totally appropriate. The dooollllyy. . . (Of course, I've also seen the opening, and that rips your heart out in a different way. . .you can tell Delta's fighting it with all he's got. . .)

Haven't seen that one -- should hunt it down.

It's the same, no matter what you do with the Sisters, but still - MAJOR TEARJERKER. Worse, if you've listened to the Audio Diaries in the game.

Just watched it (along with the a final boss fight in which the player was oddly stingy with his Plasmids). And CRIPES YES. Even though I already knew the twist, it's just -- actually seeing it and hearing it. . . Yeah.

The last audio diary, "Pearl" - one I can never listen to (along with "The Longest Con" and "Escape From Rapture") - does not help in the least. Here, Porter has the chance to be with his wife again in the only way he can - and he JUST. CAN'T. DO IT. It's very tragic, and also impossibly brave.

"Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it", indeed.

I'd recommend that you listen to "The Wager", though - pretty much Porter giving Dr. Lamb the verbal finger, and it feels so good.

Awww, I know. I heard that -- the man realizing that the personality simulation will never be his wife. . . Poor guy, you just want to give him all the hugs. At least Tenenbaum helps him get his humanity back so he can visit his wife's grave and truly move on.

*does so via the Wiki* LOL, nice. Go Charlie. :D

Go Charlie. :D

Especially since he's one of the kinds of person Lamb targets with her "therapy sessions" - like with Grace Holloway, due to her barrenness, her unpopular views, and her belief that she doesn't "fit" in Rapture. With a dead wife, not to mention guilt for not paying enough attention to her due to his work with Turing and surviving the Blitz when she didn't...

A good thing he refused - a Rapture Family with the Thinker (Rapture's main computing system) would have been a nightmare to deal with.

Yup, that's exactly what the Wiki said. Evil woman -- oh Christ, now she's got me thinking she's like Bumby in a way. Will my fandoms stop getting mixed up in each other? O.o

And yes, that woman should never get to lay a FINGER on the Thinker. I saw the end battle for Minerva's Den, and when I saw that computer. . . Oh man, steampunky (or dieselpunky I suppose, but it LOOKS steampunky!) goodness. . . *drool*
