crossover_chickLet's have some updates, shall we?
A) Here's the latest from Inkwell Secundus: The Turrets! Now I've got a complete cycle done before I head off into Alice land, yay.
B) Chapter 19 of "Finding You" is up, meaning that story is done! Now I just have to figure out "Forgetting You's" screwed-up timeline. . .
C) I believe I owe you lot a Sin, don't I?
4. Lust
Fandom: Scott Pilgrim Versus The World
“You know, there are other girls you can sleep with.”
Victor jerked his head up. “I b-beg your pardon?!” he said, gaping at Jennifer.
“You’re going through hell for this Alice chick,” Jennifer said, pushing a lock of multicolored hair out of her face. “And for what? By your own admission, you haven’t even gotten past second base! And yeah, I know that’s a huge accomplishment for you, but--” She shook her head. “Wouldn’t it be easier to find someone else to date at this point? Someone without evil exes? I know Emily was a little clingy, but when you were with her, you weren’t risking death from random people on the street.”
Victor stared at her for a moment. Then, quietly, he said, “Jennifer – what if you were in my place, and it was Marty with the evil exes? Would you give up on him?”
Jennifer blinked, then glared at him. “What – no! I’d pound those assholes flat! He’s my – my. . .”
Her voice trailed off as it hit her. “Whoa,” she breathed. “It’s that serious?”
“For m-me, anyway,” Victor said, sighing deeply. “She’s worth it, Jennifer. Every insult, every punch, every bruise – she’s worth it. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I f-felt this – this connection. Something I’ve never quite felt with any other girl. And when we’re allowed to h-have a moment to ourselves. . . .” He smiled, remembering how wonderful their first date had been. “I want to stay with her. No matter what it takes.”
Jennifer nodded, looking contrite. “I get it. Sorry for acting like it was just a sex thing.” She tilted her head. “Have you told her yet? I mean, how you feel?”
Victor shook his head. “No. Not really.” He sat up straight. “But the next time I see her – I definitely will.”
More Victor Van Dort Vs. The World! I figured this fit best as a Scott Pilgrim fandom prompt because -- well, it's a logical question, isn't it? There are other girls in the world, ones without evil exes. . . And Scott and Ramona nearly but not quite having sex does come up a couple of times in the movie. Here, I was basically going for explaining why Victor's going through all this -- it's not about mere sexual attraction. He honest-to-God loves her. Think of it as a more heartfelt, less humorous version of the "l-word" scene in a way.
-J: Hang on, why does this me have multicolored hair? Am I game-Jennifer in this verse?-
Yup! This is because of how I've cast the various roles -- here's a list with quick explanations:
Victor = Scott Pilgrim (obviously, because they share a bit of the whole 'multiple girlfriends/unlucky in love' business)
Alice = Ramona Flowers (also obviously, because, well, she really is Ramona)
Marty = Stephen Stills (for the whole 'rock star' thing)
Victoria = Kim Pine (mostly because Kim's arguably the sanest of Scott's two exes, and it's kind of funny to picture Victoria with her deadpan snarking)
Doc (Teenage Game) = Young Neil (I wanted him in there, and that was the best place to put him; he's the band's tech guy)
Emily = Knives Chau (obviously -- the ex who doesn't want to give up (and she's already got blue hair!))
Jennifer (1986A Game) = Wallace Wells (I thought she fit well with the snarkiness)
Carpenter = Matthew Patel, Evil Ex #1 (He's appropriately theatrical, and I like the line "oyster hipster chicks")
Griff Tannen = Lucas Lee, Evil Ex #2 (Putting Biff was a mistake last time -- I MEANT Griff, because Griff's big scene involves hoverboards. Biff will be featured, though, as one of Griff's stunt doubles)
Barkis Bittern = Todd Ingram, Evil Ex #3 (I really wanted Barkis, and this was the best spot for him)
Edna Strickland = Roxy Richter, Evil Ex #4 (because the idea of an evil lesbian Edna is hilarious to me, and I like the idea of her and Alice having a fight)
Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum (Orderlies) = Kyle & Ken Katayanagi, Evil Exes #5 & #6 (because, hey, they're twins! Their actual Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum forms take the place of the dragon the Katayanagi twins summon for their fight)
Angus Bumby = Gideon Graves, Evil Ex #7 (because yeah, he maps damn near perfectly to mind-controlling bastard Gideon. To the point where I've decided Bumby's middle name is Gideon!)
Hopefully all my choices make sense to everyone. Maybe one day I'll write more from these verse and give everyone a proper showcase. It's a hell of a lot of fun. :D
Okay, tomorrow starts off the craziness that is October! First bit of craziness: how to fit in some "American McGee's Alice" around my long-day schedule.
