Happy Anniversary American McGee's Alice!

And happy Mad Hatter Day, and happy birthday Elisabeth Shue! It's a pretty busy day overall. But a good one!
Been a pretty productive day for me -- got another chapter of "Losing You" edited for Ao3, wrote some more on "In The Land of the Dead," and I think I may have a workable timeline for "Forgetting You!" Now it's just a matter of finding the chapter breaks and doing some polishing. . . Oh, and I also got farther in my Alice playing:
Alice Progress: Up To Fungiferous Flora, "American McGee's Alice"
The game has been giving me a surprising amount of trouble, mainly in the area of jumping. I keep mistiming jumps. Is it right to blame "Alice: Madness Returns's" quadruple-jump for this? I admit getting savaged by enemies is my own dumb fault. . . Still all the hate for those accursed ladybugs. Haaate them. . . At least I only have to deal with them for one more level. After Centipede boss fight, no more! Yay! (This is why I rank them below Snarks in my list of Asshole Enemies -- the Snarks keep showing up after the Woods levels, AND we get a version that spits fire. Snarks are the WORST.)
Anyway, I believe it's one other person's birthday today -- Ael's! Dunno if you're gonna read this, but I'll put it up anyway:
“They’re calling the kid Acorn?”
“Just while it’s cooking, so to speak,” Vic said, glancing up at Marty. “If I remember correctly, it’s going to be a boy named Jonathan when he’s born.”
“Ah. So why are they calling him Acorn now?”
“Well, they don’t know what he is yet, and they wanted to have an easy way to refer to him.”
Marty nodded. “Makes sense, I guess. Still, it’s kinda funny how much they’re into the whole ‘tree’ thing.”
“Hey, it’s their symbol of their love. They’re allowed to be into it.”
“I know, I know, but now I want to call Clark ‘Mr. Oak’ or something when I next see him.”
Vic sniggered. “Actually, April’s superhero name is – or was – Dark Oak.”
“Seriously?” Marty grinned. “Okay, yeah, definitely gotta do it now.”
Just a short, silly thing about Clark and his wife April's upcoming baby. The reason I know it's a boy is because Ael and her partner have done future!threads featuring the kids, including this one's birth. I personally think it's really cute that the kid's called Acorn right now. But yeah, Marty probably would tease Clark a little about that, just because he could. Hope you like!
Anyway, I've got stuff on tumblr to answer, and I'm rereading the
screencappery playthrough of AMA by
ffwf. It's really funny -- I wish he'd do the sequel. He's done some puzzle book playthroughs that are just as amusing, though.
