Happy Half-Birthday Alice!

And "Through the Looking-Glass" Day -- today is the day the second book is set on, which is exactly six months away from the first book. Cool, huh? :D Hooray for Alice! :D Incidentally, I recently read through the original manuscript for the first book. I still find it fascinating that the fandom's two most recognizable characters, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter, were later additions. The entire story is much shorter, honestly. And Lewis Carroll's illustrations can be really creepy -- his card people dont' have HEADS. D:
Also, interesting tidbit of the day: In "Alice: Madness Returns," memories from Alice's sister twice mention the Isis, both times relating to water (the first about Dodgson being a poor sailor, the second about how slimy Bumby's hands are). Now, I always thought the Isis was a boat -- but as it turns out, it's a tributary off the Thames.
The one Dodgson and the girls were sailing down when he first told the Alice in Wonderland story.
Subtlest nod to the real-life Alice ever. XD (Well, if you don't know that piece of trivia.)
Also, the NaNo report:
NaNo Progress: 8,360/50,000
Not too shabby! And I just wrapped up the "Cinderella" section to boot. Time to introduce Emily! :D And now I have a decent buffer in place in case I don't get so much written tomorrow -- long day at school, after all. But I get Tuesday off for Election Day, sooo. . .
