Early Birthday Stuffs
Dec. 26th, 2012 11:39 pmSpent the vast majority of the day out and about in honor of my birthday. My Mom has to work tomorrow (from 7 AM to 7 PM), so we had to do the celebrations a day early. Said celebrations involved visiting Dave & Buster's at Providence Place Mall. We actually had lunch there -- not something I usually do when I'm there on my own. (Normally I eat at Subway.) It was pretty good, to tell the truth -- I had chicken tenders and cheesy fries, num. Afterwards we went around and played some of the games. It was kind of fun, having people to play with for a change. I got to try out a lot of multiplayer games I don't normally use. We left when it finally got too crowded and wandered Newbury's for a short while. Where, thanks to my Auntie Ann's $30 gift card, I got a new friend!

It's a Space Core! I've kind of wanted this little guy for a while now, and with the gift card, he was free, so why not? :D Isn't he cute? Now I just need to see if they make a Wheatley in the same size. . .
After that, we skedaddled, because it was getting really crazy and we wanted to get home before rush hour. Still, I had a good time. Other birthday presents include:
-->Two very nice cards, one from Mom & Dad and one from my aunt, uncle, and cousins
-->Two more Newbury's gift cards ($50 one from Mom & Dad, $25 one from extended family -- coupled with the $30 one I got before, this means I got over $100 for Newbury's for my birthday.)
-->A Frankenweenie calendar:

Not bad, eh? I did like the movie, even if I REALLY, REALLY hate how people keep claiming the Victor in that movie is the same as Victor Van Dort. >.<
-->A very nice picture of Victor & Alice from Butterfly Boy's tumblr girlfriend Delusional Beauty Alice (this one's sort of a combined Christmas/birthday gift)
So yeah, not bad. :) Hopefully I can expect cake tomorrow (we were way too full after lunch to consider dessert). And I might give myself a present by seeing what paid time gets you here on Dreamwidth. (Though if any of YOU want to give
forgotten_vows or
butterflyboy a month or two. . . :p)

"What is it, Doc?"
"Marty, come look, it's incredible! I'd call it a miracle even."
That has Marty's interest piqued, Doc, science mad Doc describing something as a miracle? That's a miracle in itself!
He comes over to join his friend at the net book, it's the latest technology, though obviously Doc could have got hold of it at any time. Marty's still deeply impressed by it, but he's pretty sure Doc's seen everything it can do.
Doc has a website called, of all things, Dreamwidth open, one of those online journal type sites and Marty can't imagine why. He knows that Marlene has one of those things but he's certainly never looked at it (apart from anything else, his daughter would kill him!).
"What are you doin', Doc? You're not thinking of getting one of those cutsey blog things are you? Because that's no miracle... in fact, I'd call it a sign of impending doom."
The look Doc gives him is worth a thousand words, mostly swears in Marty's estimation.
"Don't be ridiculous, no I'm drawing your attention to the fact that girl is here."
Marty almost asks which girl, but then remembers, that girl.
"You looked her up? They can trace you on the net, you know, she probably knows where I live now thanks a -"
"Don't be ridiculous, Marty," Doc holds up his hand for quiet."Besides, look."
Marty leans in to peer at the screen, wondering not for the first time if Jen's right and he should get his eyes checked.
"She's changed her name! It's not Doc's Girl anymore!"
"What? But she's always been Doc's Girl," Marty can't believe it, but it's true, the URL of the journal is now crossover_chick. "Holy shit, Doc, you're right." He shakes his head. "That is a miracle."
Doc beams. "Do you know what this means? It means I'm free! I no longer need to worry what kind of crazy schemes she's planning for me next! I can work on my inventions as long as I wish and I don't have to hear any squees, whatever those are."
Marty claps a hand on his friend's shoulder. "That's great, Doc!"
It is indeed, Doc can't stop grinning.
At least for a few moments, then he frowns.
"What, Doc?" Marty frowns too.
"She still likes me, right?"
