Yeah, got the word from [community profile] ryansgulch -- they don't feel [personal profile] forgotten_vows's backstory (you know, the fusion between CB and A:MR) is plausible enough. *shrug* I could have told them that. They did say my characterization in the app was good, though, so that's something. Ah well, it was worth a shot.

In happier news, just about finished that Let's Play I'm watching of "Okami" -- there's just a few bonus videos to go, I believe. It does look like a good game -- and the ending sequence really is heartwarming. :) Awwww.

And, possibly inspired by this, I bring you fic! Our latest table needs finishing, and we've only got one fandom left! And it's WALL*E, of all things. XD So yes, have some sin:

WALL*E
“IMMOBILIZE HER.”
If GO-4 had been a human, he might have shouted, “YOU try immobilizing her!” As it was, he was a robot fanatically loyal to AUTO, so instead he kept doing his best to grab Alice in his transporter beam. The leader of the Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluators kept dodging and weaving, but all he needed was one lucky break –
There! GO-4 allowed himself a nasty chuckle. He hadn’t managed to grab all of Alice, but he’d grabbed the most important part – her hair. Everyone on the ship knew how much Alice loved her hair. It was the only bit of vanity she allowed herself. In every other aspect of her existence, she was a no-nonsense android, completely focused on doing her job to the best of her ability. There was no room for any frivolity or fun in her life – no room for anything but duty. Duty, and making sure that her hair – long, dark, and beautiful – looked perfect. The other robots had caught her brushing it in the mirror before reporting to work – one hundred strokes each time. She wouldn’t show herself in front of a human without making sure it was presentable unless she was forced (and even then she’d make everyone wait as she finger-combed it). And anyone who even got close to touching it got the full force of one of her famous glares. Oh yes, if there was one thing besides her job Alice was proud of, it was her hair.
And now, it was in his grasp. He sniggered again as Alice tried to pull away, reaching out for that WALL*E android that was busy tormenting AUTO. He knew she wasn’t going anywhere. There was no way that she’d risk –
It happened almost before he could process it. With one motion, Alice flipped the Vorpal Blade out of her arm – and slashed through her hair, leaving a ragged mess behind. The Captain’s gasp filled in nicely for the one GO-4 couldn’t let out himself. She cared more for this “Victor” than she did about her precious hair?
She really was in love.

Oh God, this one took a while to do. It went through no less than three rewrites to get into this form. The basic idea was always the same -- Alice is known for treasuring her hair, which is why it shocks everyone when she cuts it to free herself from GO-4's grasp and save Victor. But the previous two versions both started with just a description of Alice and her single humanity vanity (well, that everyone else knows about -- she keeps the fact that she likes to fly a closely guarded secret). That meant the beginning kept falling flat. I don't know WHY it took me so long to realize it should START with GO-4 grabbing her, and THEN go into why having her by the hair made him feel like he had an ace in the hole. *shakehead*

Anyway! I believe I talked about this before at some point, but we'll repeat it here since it's undoubtedly been a while. In this universe, we have android "leaders" of the robots we see in the film, created under the Android Initiative (A.I.) Project. The idea was that these supervisor bots would be easier for humans to interact with. Alice is the AI leader of the EVES, Victor of the WALL*Es. Just like in the film, the WALL*Es start randomly failing -- but in this universe, all the regular ones eventually break down. The only one left is Victor. After the EVE scheduled to go on the plant-finding trip breaks down, Alice takes her place, and she and Victor basically go through the stuff EVE and WALL*E do.

Main difference in this universe? AUTO and GO-4 are a lot more evil. After Alice and the Captain see the fateful A-114 directive video, Alice notices there's actually a few more transmissions from Earth. AUTO is ordered to show them, and it turns out they're from Victor, who was trying to get the attention of the humans about his failing WALL*Es. AUTO deemed him a threat and made him A-114 compliant.

In other words, he deliberately got the other machines on Earth to BREAK Victor, damaging him bad enough so he can't even speak correctly. Yeah -- that's my explanation for why Victor would talk like WALL*E. And it's probable that either AUTO or GO-4 was responsible for sabotaging the EVE unit that was supposed to go out, not suspecting Alice would volunteer to go in its place.

This is getting long, so we'll talk more about this universe in the next fic. But man, do I have a talent for making fluffy stuff dark or what?

Whew! Nice long update for you all for a change! I'm off to do tumblr stuff and watch the final videos of the LP.
