Looks like the judging of apps shall be delayed again. Hopefully they'll get to it tomorrow. In the meantime, I've thrown [personal profile] forgotten_vows into a truth or dare meme on [community profile] bakerstreet, if anyone would like to bug him.

Really not much else to report today, though that's largely my own fault -- I made the mistake of going on TV Tropes early. Yeah, it's been one of those days where I've spent the majority of my time wandering through Wiki pages. ^^; I have gotten more down on the Ultimate Backstory meme, though -- and I have a section of Helloween's AMA LP lined up to hopefully get me in the mood for editing at least one part of "Finding You" Chapter 5.

Speaking of which, I watched his review of A:MR and his LP of A:MR today. He considers it a fantastic game overall, with his main complaints being that it gets kind of repetitive (this is one I've seen from just about everyone) and that he wishes there were boss fights. I personally am not that bothered about the lack of boss fights, but it got me thinking about where one would even have boss battles in this game. My thoughts on a few of the stages:

  1. Hatter's Domain: From what I've gathered, there was supposed to be a part where you fought March and Dormy separately (with the other one perhaps being handled by Hatter), but I think I also saw American say once on his forum that the "giant mecha" bit was always supposed to be an anticlimax. So -- my idea for a HD boss fight would be:
-->Alice and Hatter arrive to see the Infernal Train leave the station; Hatter is taken away by hook
-->Alice faces off against March and Dormy, either on their own (March attacking with his blade arm and perhaps a crushing super-jump, Dormy biting and trying run you over with his wheels) or in mini-mecha (maybe like the Automatons, but altered to fit their particular domains -- Dormy would have a drill and something that shot lava, Hare crushing hands).
-->After dealing the pair enough damage, they retreat and declare they're pulling out the big guns
-->The huge mecha arrives, only for Hatter to return and smash it with the teapot
  2. Deluded Depths: A weapon was designed for Carpenter, so I assume you were supposed to fight him or him and Walrus at some point. However, I'm not entirely sure when or how. I know where I'd LIKE to stick the boss fight though -- in the place of that stupid graveyard sequence! Seriously, did anyone like that bit? I think it's almost as reviled as the damn Off With Her Head minigame.
  3. Mysterious East: There was a boss designed for this level -- the Wasp Empress! Armed with multiple katana and scary masks, she'd be a formidable foe. I think you'd fight her to gain access to the final scroll and Caterpillar -- basically, she'd take the place of that horrible fight with the Daimyo, Samurai, and Archer Wasps all ganging up on you.
  4. Queensland: . . .Actually, I like how things go here. I love the footstomp of doom, and I like the fact that you DON'T end up fighting the Queen -- BECAUSE SHE'S NOT THE THREAT ANYMORE. Maybe I'd suggest letting you directly control the footstomp of doom, but other than that I can't really say anything I'd like to change. (There was concept art of a Queen Vs Alice fight, for those wondering, but again, since the Queen isn't actually the threat here. . .)
  5. Dollhouse: I'm not sure what I'd do here. . . The fight with the two Dollgirls and the Menacing Ruin makes a decent battle, I think. And the Dollmaker's the final boss, so he SHOULD be saved for the Infernal Train. I'd suggest a dollified version of Alice, but I think that takes away from the final cutscene in this area, where it looks like the Dollmaker has got her. . . Hmmm. Tough.

Back to our last remark but one -- Helloween also said that he wasn't impressed with his LP of A:MR. I personally thought it was pretty decent, but he thinks his anger over his computer dying on him and other setbacks at the time made it so the LP wasn't all that it should be. And since he sincerely treasures his fans (he says this at the end of the video, because he's a sweetie), he admits that he's considered redoing it in HD form to give us a proper experience. And while I liked his original LP, I'm not going to say no to him doing it again! Especially now that he's got all the special effects and such working. . . Ah, to be able to afford a truly good gaming computer. . .

Anyway. I should either watch this bit of Alice and try to edit Chapter 5, or clean up more answers on the Backstory meme. And there's Twitter and Tumblr to catch up with too. So, later! Keep your fingers crossed about [community profile] mallowhallow!
