Let's start off with my OT3:

Day Nine:
“Does the Land of the Dead celebrate Christmas, Emily?”
“Oh yes,” Emily confirmed, smiling at Victor. “The Ball & Socket is filled with greenery, and Bonejangles makes everyone sing Christmas carols. I’ll have to bring you down there for a night.”
“It sounds nicer than most of the celebrations up here,” Victoria said. “Not that we’ll be invited to most of those. . . .”
“But even if we were, would we go?” Victor pointed out, linking arms with both women. “I don’t care what people think of the three of us. We’ll make this the nicest Christmas any newlyweds ever had – Upstairs or Down.”

I figured, so long as I was doing Victor/Victoria Corpse Bride, I should also give my love for having all three of them together a shot at a drabble. I originally had a line about how the Land of the Dead didn't make as much a fuss over Christmas as they did over Halloween, but I had to cut it for space purposes. And yes, it would only be logical for a man who somehow managed to marry both a living woman and a dead one would be ostracized from the community along with his wives -- but I also don't think the three would care that much. They have plenty of friends Downstairs, and a few people who accept and love them Upstairs. That's all this group truly needs. Ultimately, this is just some OT3 fluff. :D

Now, onto the main event -- I saw Frozen today! The winter storm petered out into more of a rain/slush thing, so I was able to get the earlier bus I wanted to the mall. Your highlights:
-->Took a quick wander around Newbury's -- they've rearranged the place yet again. I swear, it's in a different configuration every time I visit. Although I guess this new one does make sense -- all the clothing stuff is together, all the book/graphic novel stuff is together. . .it basically flows.
-->Managed to get a very cheap lunch by simply having one of Subway's 2-buck six-inches. Meatball Marinara -- it was good!
-->The rest of my food was SnoCaps and a (poorly made, but with big cookie chunks on top) Oreo smoothie. I felt SnoCaps were appropriate given the movie I was seeing. Unfortunately, I managed to spill a few on myself -- and not notice until they'd melted. I managed to get most of the chocolate off my jeans, but that was still a touch embarrassing. Oh, and an interesting note -- my ticket was $9. My snacks were $9.50. :P
-->Frozen! Non-Spoilery Thoughts: Good movie! I liked all the characters (even the villains, since they were characterized well), the plot was good, the look of it was beautiful — hooray Disney! :D

Spoilery Thoughts: The plot actually surprised me — mostly because the trailers liiiiieeee. They show Elsa actively causing dangerously bad weather, so I thought what might happen after “Let It Go” is Elsa decides to embrace her role as a “monster” and the plot would be that Anna has to convince her that she at least still loves her. I thought this up until she zapped Anna and froze her heart — I was sure she’d accidentally freeze her OWN heart and become a true “Snow Queen,” and then the trick would be saving her. I do like the way it played out in the end, though. The sisterly love between the two was amazing, and even if I guessed how Anna would be cured, I didn’t quite guess how it would go down.

A few thoughts about the villains — I knew about Hans, but Duke Weasel (as I will call him) was hilariously evil. My friend Rose compared Hans to Barkis, but I think his characterization is spread out across the two of them — Hans gets the smooth-talking, the Duke the “OMG I’m such a villain” aspect. :P And you’ve got to give Hans some props on his acting skills. Wow — for the longest time I was half-convinced he was going to be a misguided villain EVEN THOUGH I’D HAD WARNING HE WAS JUST PLAIN NASTY. I also like that Anna was the one to punch him into the sea — you go girl. (I find this kind of hilarious, in fact — Elsa is the one with dangerous powers, but she spends almost the entire movie begging people to stay away from her so she doesn’t hurt them. The one time she does attack with potentially lethal intent, it’s in self-defense, and she’s all too willing to back down in the end.)

That said, I actually think the movie would still work with a Good!Hans — part of the plot involves the fact that Anna thinks she has “True Love” with a guy she doesn’t even know. (Shades of “Enchanted” there!) Maybe, if he was actually a decent guy, they could kiss, but it wouldn’t work, and Hans would admit that, while he likes Anna, maybe he’s more interested in finally having a more up-front role in ruling a country. He’s genuinely distressed by Anna slowly freezing to death inside, though, and maybe he raises his sword to Elsa simply in anger, thinking she might have deliberately hurt her? And Anna, once she’s thawed, explains that Elsa didn’t mean it, and things calm down and are happy? Just a thought. :P (This is partially because I think Kristoff would go as well with Elsa as with Anna -- he's clearly got respect for her ice powers!)

Anyway, yes, good movie, glad I got the chance to see it. And the short at the beginning is hilarious. :D They actually tricked me into thinking it was a genuine old short up until Mickey came out of the screen! Though I did think parts of it were a little risque for the supposed time period. It honestly ended up reminding me a bit of a Warner Brothers' cartoon in the best way. If you can see it, do -- it's great. :D (Also, there IS an extra ending bonus if you sit through Frozen's credits!)

-->Movie ends, I clean off the last of the chocolate, I'm feeling good as I pack up -- aaaand I abruptly realize I've lost my umbrella. Or, rather, that I've left it somewhere before entering the theater. Cue me searching the food court, attached bathroom, and asking at the mall office if anyone's turned it in. No dice -- it's disappeared. My own dumb fault for leaving it behind (I'm simply not used to carrying it), but it did sting a bit. (For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure I either left it in the bathroom or at the food court -- someone must have seen and grabbed it.) Fortunately I was able to grab another one at the mall CVS for a decent price. I'll have to remember to take better care of it!

And once I got home, it was Christmas tree time! Mom & Dad made a driftwood tree this year -- basically, tiered bits of driftwood screwed to a board to look like a tree, with ornaments and beach toys all over it. I helped select wood, get the ornaments, and fix the massive tangle that our lights and bead strings had gotten into. I love my mother, but I'm sincerely glad she won't have a chance to just dump EVERYTHING in the box in a huge knotted mess this year. (She's not very Christmassy and she is RUTHLESS when it comes to taking down that tree.) However, it was all worth it -- I have a couple little pictures of the end result:

Tree 2013 Lit Tree 2013 Unlit
It's a tree that truly fits our family -- Mom's a beach fanatic, and I used to be too in when I was younger. :) And hey, much less messy than a pine!

The downside to that is that I only got on the computer again earlier tonight, and I'm in the more in the mood for looking up Frozen tropes than doing anything else. So a hiatus day has been declared! I was going to take Thursday off, since I have class both that day and Friday, but I think I can work around that easier. Ah well. Speaking of those tropes, I'll be off now! Enjoy my incredibly long entry!
