25 Days of Multiverse #16
Dec. 16th, 2013 06:00 pmMy day's been. . .let me just say I didn't get much done online because of an extended cleaning period and an extended writing period. On the plus side, Chapter 23 of "Forgetting You" is coming along nicely. So, before I have my supper, shower, and massive catch-up on Twitter and Tumblr again, let's have my drabble of the day:
Day Sixteen:
“And – there!”
Doc pulled away the screwdriver, grinning at his boys. “That should do it!”
Really, Father? Jules asked, giving himself a little shake. His brothers followed suit. The vocal synthesizer is truly fully functional?
“Everything’s wired up,” Doc confirmed. “Go on, give it a try.”
The tentacles looked at each other, hesitating. Then, slowly, Tommy opened his claw. “F-Father?”
Even though he’d been expecting it, Doc couldn’t help a slight start. It was just so weird to hear one of their voices with his ears. “Yes, Tommy?”
There was another pause, and then, in much happier tones: “Merry Christmas!”
-OD: Going for another 'blast from the past,' I see.-
Yeah, I figured I ought to do something with this verse as well. This is sort of a hole filler between the last chapter of "There's Always Tomorrow" and the epilogue, which takes place on Christmas. Doc gives the boys their Christmas presents -- the ability to actually talk -- a bit early, since he figures communication would be a good thing.
-OD: *Jules* Trust me, it is.-
Heh. I gave Tommy the honor of saying the "Merry Christmas" line because he's the most kid-like of the group.
-VuM: Kind of too bad you couldn't put up the actual story for Christmas, huh?-
I'm really busy with the Forgotten Vows Verse. . .could you wait until New Year's?
-VuM: . . .Wait, what?-
-OD: *jaw drops* Did you -- is it --
Yeah, I finally finished the damn thing this year. I want to take care of this latest chapter of "Forgetting You" before I do anything else, but I'm planning to upload both that AND "Boy Genius" to FF.net. People have asked about the latter, and I might as well finish off the series properly for the former.
-OD: Now THAT is a holiday present!-
Heh, yeah. I just want to go over each chapter once to make sure there are no typos and to make sure continuity works. No major editing, I just want it DONE. So yeah -- I'll try to ring in the New Year with those two.
And now that I've dropped that little bombshell, on to Twitter! Night all!
