I forgot to mention -- I finished Going Postal today! And yes, yet again I quite enjoyed it. Some thoughts:
-->Vetinari is an amazing magnificent bastard and I really enjoy him
-->Golems! I loved seeing them back in action. Mr. Pump was great, and Anghammarad. . .awww, seriously.
-->Moist is a fascinating character and I look forward to seeing more of him. A con man and total jerk who nevertheless proves he does have a silver of a heart -- and, under the right circumstances, he can turn into a decent human being.
-->I also hope to see more of Adora Belle Dearheart -- ah, young love. . .with a woman who smokes like a burning building and apparently is supposed to be at least partially an expy of Ada Lovelace. :D
-->Another Bloody Stupid Johnson invention, those are always good.
-->Chapters! Pratchett put them in just to prove that he could. They have hilarious Victorian-style summaries at the beginning -- and a great call-back to the beginning of the series. The number eight is kind of verboten on the Disc since it's a very magical number and might possibly summon universe-ending things if said in the wrong places. So the book has chapter 7 -- then chapter 7A XD
I am, however, preemptively concerned about the TV movie adaptation of this book. From what I can tell, it changes a lot of plot elements (as is typical with these), but I can't say I think they're for the better. Then again, I haven't actually SEEN the adaptation yet, so I'll try to keep an open mind. The book's always better than the movie in these cases, of course, but -- well "The Color of Magic" and "Hogfather" did really good jobs, so I'd really like to keep the streak going if at all possible.
Okay, bedtime looms up -- back with another drabble later!
