25 Days of Multiverse #24

Christmas Eve -- and I'm still getting over my cold and Dad's got a bad toothache and Mom's been running in and out to her job. So -- yeah.
On the nice side, I have FINALLY gotten
deadgirlslikeme and
save_us_alice engaged! DGVictor hasn't given her a ring yet (it's at home -- he'd planned to give it to her for the New Year) but the conversation's made it pretty obvious how things are heading. I figured it was about time, and that he might as well make his intentions clear among some good friends. :) Cutely enough, today's drabble also deals with the "Pocket Nexus" group:
Day Twenty-Four:
“So Santa comes tonight?”
“Yup! Doing his yearly round of gift-giving.” Doc kissed his daughter’s forehead. “So good night and sleep tight, and in the morning there’ll be presents to open.”
“G’night, Daddy.” Dee watched as her father left, then turned to Victor, lingering to say his own good night. “You guys aren’t pulling my leg, right?” she had to ask. “I mean, I know we live near the Nexus and all, but sometimes–”
Victor smiled, sitting on the edge of Dee’s bed. “We’re not,” he assured her. “Did I ever tell you how I got my favorite butterfly book?”
-M: Aww, come on, any DeLorean-turned-little girl who lives with that lot has GOT to believe in Santa.-
LOL, yes, yes, I know, skirting the edge of probability there -- but that's why I threw in the line about them living near the Nexus. Hell, maybe Dee heard conflicting reports there about whether Santa's real or not and decided it wouldn't hurt anything to confirm. This is her first Christmas after arriving in Doc, Marty, Victor, and Alice's lives, and I decided I wanted to do a little fluffy stuff. Doc of course could have told her that Santa was real -- both he and Victor received gifts from the Rift version -- but I decided I might as well have Victor do it. Doc's gift would have probably caused a few tears on his part anyway, given what it was. (For those not in the know, it was a scrapbook of him and Marty -- with a message at the end telling him Marty made it home.) Better to let the guy who got a purely happy present give her the low-down.
-RPD: Hey, I think Clockwork would argue his present was plenty happy.-
Yeah, but butterfly books don't typically cause mini-breakdowns. Besides, Victor was one of the few to actually SEE the guy anyway.
-RPD: Oh -- yeah, that's a good point.-
:P
So that's that -- I have to do my usual round of catching up to do. Merry Christmas Eve, all!
