Long Thursday

Probably because it's so close to the end of the week. *makes grabby hands at weekend* Waaaant. . . Though pathetically, it would have been fantastic today if only it hadn't been so damn WINDY! 61 F when I was coming home, but I had to keep my coat on for most of my walk because of the gusts! >.< And now Saturday's got thunderstorms expected. . . *grump* I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.
Been running around getting tags up and doing DragonValey things -- not only have they rereleased the Solar Eclipse dragon (not sure why, except possibly "well, we started this event with the Lunar Eclipse. . .), they've also got a new dragon, the Arbor. Which you get by breeding a Forest and a Tree, natch. Because that's what we need, DragonVale, yet another Plant/Earth combo. (Being a bit facetious there -- it is cute.)
Curiously, this double-release has found me in two minds about whether or not I pony up the dough for that Lost Island:
A. There is always room for more space in this game. I mean, seriously -- you need every bit of island real estate you can get to properly fit all the habitats you need for about 180 dragons. And while I know it would be better to save my money, there's this little part of me that keeps piping up, "But it's perfect for Seasonal habitats!"
B. But on the other hand, if I do what I'm doing now and hoard my eggs (to the point of waiting to clear those last three obstacles until the next Double Egg weekend starts), I'm going to get a bunch of gems (30 so far), and THOSE I can pour into both upgrading my breeding areas and/or more giant habitats. That would help my space issue by being able to put more dragons into less habitats, and then just position the bigger habitats attractively around the islands.
I'm 99% certain Option B is the way to go -- I guess I'm just a little sad that I can't keep that cool island. But I also guess I understand that Backflip does need people to be willing to pay sometimes. . .
Ah well. Life for you. And getting a bunch of gems is not a bad deal. And I got every other reward too. :)
Speaking of iPad games, thanks to constant promoted tweets on my Twitter app's dashboard, I find myself kind of intrigued by Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. It's a computerized card game, like Magic: The Gathering. I guess I just want to see why it keeps popping up -- and I have been intrigued in the past by card games of that sort. Maybe I'll take a look this weekend. Right now, I'm gonna have some ice cream, then finish up running around and answering tags. G'night!

Date: 2014-04-25 01:13 pm (UTC)I also got the second Ovalith Dragon who came with the lovely name Shyne. I put her by Raths on the right side of the Gemstone Island because I thought he could use some company. Well, the Lapis could, too, but he hasn't been by himself as long as Raths has, lol. I'll put the Emerald with him next month. Incendentally, you don't get anything if you try to sell the Ovalith Dragons. I was just curious; I didn't go through with it of course. More gems is a good thing, heh.
When I was eeking closer to the second Ovalith, I slowly collected the eggs. As soon as the button started to shine (*snerks to self*), then I turned them in. So now I'm gonna hoard those eggs like a dragon hoards gems (pun intended...) and let them accumulate and see how many I get by the time the event ends. I have 18 so far (8 from the leftover treat gathering and 10 from the clearing).
Since the Arbor (an Arbor Dragon for Arbor Day...clever...) is Plant/Earth I bought another Large Plant Habitat for my Plant/Water Island so it'll have a positive boost. I think I'm right in not decorating this Island to its final form yet because I need to see if there will be any other dragons in the future that can benefit from being there. I know the Bouquet will need a spot for sure.
In a year or two when all is said and done and I've gotten every dragon and upgrade in the game (minus those you have to spend real money for, of course), then maybe I'll get the Giant Habitats and re-redecorate. I won't need to save gems then, lol.
I've currently maxed out my Habitats at 41 but I'm almost level 32 so I'm not too worried. I'm just gonna profit breed anyway until they release something else we have to try for. The hybrids will always be there to breed when I'm ready, heh.
Dusty won a Silver and I threw Monty into Cold.
I'll be back in two hours when the Arbor hatches to let you know the name. Edit: It's Crusty! LOL!! So keeping that name, haha!!!

Date: 2014-04-25 06:54 pm (UTC)Oooh, I like that. I'll have to note it down for a future dragon. :) And LOL -- don't want lonely dragons! XD I'll probably put my Emerald with Scrambla, and the Lapis (if/when I get it) with Shimmer. Good matches. *nod*
That's pretty much how I handled it when I got my second. The Double Egg Weekend has started again so I'm up to 279 thanks to clearing off the last of the rocks from the Seventh Island and getting four instead of two for each. Time to egg hoard!
Mine will probably just go in one of my Large Plants, I have room in both. We have so many Plant/Earth dragons. . .what's the deal, Backflip? And yeah, I know. I'm starting to think of getting another Large Plant just to have room for everybody!
Heh, yeah, good plan. I just really like the Giants myself. Eventually I'll upgrade the breeding areas too, though. :P
I'm creeping up on Level 33 myself, and I have *checks* 33 out of 42 habitats. Huh! Have to build some new ones. :P And yes, good plan. *nods sagely*
Whitefang also won a Silver, Tempest is taking on Lightning.
Crusty! XD That's so adorable! :D
