Well, That Saturday Went Downhill Fast
Jan. 25th, 2020 11:31 pmThough, from my perspective, it didn't really go uphill very much either. . . Day can be summed up as follows:
-->Wake up earlier than I wanted because need to use the bathroom/parents talking in the other room
-->Lay in bed for a while sort of half-asleep after using bathroom, then finally get up and make my breakfast smoothie while Mom attempts to make jumbo muffins (which I guess are pretty jumbo, just also flat on top)
-->Parents go out to wander around an antique place -- I have my breakfast, do the usual "morning spent looking at TV Tropes" thing, then do my room cleaning. I ALMOST lose one of my minimate Marty's skateboard behind my bed -- fortunately, I am able to fish it out and reattach it to his foot. (Also retrieved a postcard I lost behind there ages ago!)
-->Finish room cleaning around 1:30, text parents to see if I should just scrounge up my own lunch or what -- they text back that they're coming home with spinach pies, so that's all right then
-->Parents come home around 1:50 with the pies; we have a late lunch and watch QI
-->Parents get mail -- and there's something in there about a check being refused for insufficient funds that throws everyone into a tizzy. We eventually manage to clear up what happened (and determine that no, we do still have money in the account, we just were charged a fee when the check wouldn't go through, and it's one check that wasn't to any utilities or anything), but my Dad is so furious about the whole thing that he goes off on a screaming fit, throws a few boxes around, then leaves to deliver a good version of the check to the person it was meant for
-->I go into my room and spend a good chunk of my afternoon crying because I am so sick of him doing this whenever he gets angry about something
-->Finally calm down enough to go help out Mom with the latest puzzle we got for a while
-->Get back on the computer and boot up Fallout 4 -- successfully managed to take out the super mutants in the satellite array after one false start with the help of some mines and some heavy guns. Located the next dead Brotherhood of Steel member, took their holotape and tags, and warped over to a police precinct where I knew there was a working computer to listen to the tape. (Also built some decorations for the Country Crossing settlers just 'cause.) Tape directed me to a bunker, so I took Piper up there (killing some raiders and a radscorpion along the way), opened it up --
And was very startled to find a living man, Paladin Brandis of the Brotherhood of Steel, inside. Quicksaved and paused while I looked up the quest on the Fallout Wiki -- turns out that you don't have to be a Brotherhood of Steel member to talk to him (I wasn't planning on joining the faction), but he might turn hostile and have to be killed. I attempted twice to talk to him, but Victor's low charisma failed me both times, and Piper turns out to hate killing him if you're forced into it. So I reloaded my quick save from before interacting with him and left him there, because obviously I can't finish that quest until I either a) get better odds on my persuasion or b) don't have Piper with me to disapprove of the firefight. So I'm instead back at the boathouse settlement, having dropped off some gear and healed up in preparation for dealing with the "lost caravan" quest.
-->Took my shower, had supper (Would I Lie To You episode), then came back and watched three Call Me Kevin videos:
A) The Grinch for the PS1 -- yes, someone made a game based on the Jim Carrey movie. It mainly involves squashing things with your butt and avoiding the lethal hugs of children. XD And dressing up in disguises that should really make you even MORE suspicious
B) Beat Saber, a virtual reality rhythm game where you're essentially dual-wielding lightsabers and slicing up/avoiding things to the beat of various songs. Or movie clips -- Kevin did a beat map that was the first swordfight between Will and Jack in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Kevin is kind of -- flaily, so he didn't succeed on many songs, but it was sure amusing to watch. XD
C) A game about finding Bigfoot (I don't know if the title was mentioned), that was clearly made kind of on the cheap (Bigfoot's model is -- iffy), but managed to be a fairly effective horror game regardless. As usual, though, Kevin's real enemy was not the monster, but himself -- luring Bigfoot right into his camp, setting up a trap for Bigfoot before he could phase into his trailer and then getting caught in it himself -- twice, chasing after Bigfoot in the woods at night and getting lost. XD Oh, Kevin, never change.
-->Got to work doing RP things on Valice Multiverse and getting up the next Scene From Secundus: The Oddest Scent. Would YOU want to smell like leather and tobacco? I don't, and neither does Victor.
And now I'm still doing the former, answering messages, and preparing to clean up the last of my comments. Feeling somewhat better now, but. . .yeah. At least I got all my cleaning done before the meltdown. And still managed to get the two things I wanted to get done, done afterward. *sigh*
Anyway -- Sims 4 tomorrow, plus Atop The Fourth Wall and whatever else I can fit in from my Watch Later queue. We'll see how it goes. Night all.
