Happy Valice Anniversary!
Jul. 7th, 2023 11:50 pmAlso a Valicer Anniversary now, what with that recent wedding. . .and the "getting the house" anniversary too, though we didn't end up doing our usual picture today (the sun was at the exact wrong angle to take it when I got home this afternoon -- we're doing it tomorrow morning after my breakfast). I had a pretty okay day -- few annoying moments, but I celebrated well (wore my favorite Valice shirt this afternoon -- though it needed a bath after beanbags -- and did my update to the Valice Wedding Masterpost -- see it here! Oh, and watched a few clips of Victor, Alice, and The Smiler before posting this), and I got a fair bit done --
Work – Busier than expected day, but in a good way! Well, “in a good way” in terms of me not being bored, because my boss is having a bit of a time of it – turns out the post office is refusing to properly forward our mail at the moment until something is fixed, so now the boss had to go and get the mail that was there so me and my coworker could put it on. We both managed to put on everything that had to go up before “processing freeze” (a week in July where we don’t put on any gifts so the reports for the auditors can be run) over the course of the morning, so yeah, at least I didn’t have to just sit on my ass contemplating duplicates. :p Don’t think I’ll be as lucky next Friday, though. . .
Sims 4 – Dropped into today for a quick “okay let’s sort out all of these wedding pictures and see which ones I want to keep and what should go where” playsession in the Chill Valicer Save – after having some trouble actually dragging the pictures into the barn so I could get a proper look at them in an area with enough wall space to display all of them (this was on me, I thought I had to click and hold the mouse button while moving the mouse to drag them, something my mouse is having trouble with – turns out I can just click, then move the mouse), I proceeded to spend the better part of an hour and a half figuring out what I wanted where, as well as moving some other pictures and paintings I had around the shop because why not? XD The end result was:
A) The living room now has one of the big trio shots from the tripod behind the phonograph (it was the best place it fit), along with my favorite three “dual selfie” shots between the two windows behind the side table with the bunny on it – I also put up Alice’s surreal “llama with apple face and cat in bowler hat” painting from SimCity Founding in the space between the phonograph and the window (I wanted SOMETHING there, and that was the best item that fit!). Another small trio shot framed in white was put on the table in the little sitting area in front of the fireplace, along with the Van Alton floral centerpiece (one of the wedding rewards), recolored purple.
B) The art-and-music studio room now has Alice’s painting of Victor at his piano in the old house by his current piano (after I shifted said piano slightly away from the wall) – I shifted the small illustrative painting Victor did that was previously in that spot to over the piano, in between the shots from their trip to the Bramblewood on a previous SimCity Founding. I also moved Poppy the MySim statue from the desk upstairs to the piano to join the two other MySims atop it. And I hung the photo Victor took of Alice at her old easel (shrunk back down to its original small size) by Alice’s new extra-fancy easel, right below her shot of Rory (when she was exploiting cameras to become friends XD).
C) While I sold the extra coffee maker and microwave that Victor and Smiler had received as wedding gifts (definitely no need for them), there was something I did want to keep in the household inventory – a decorative tea set! The problem was, I didn’t really have anywhere to put it in the kitchen. . .after a little fiddling with the fridge to see if I could turn it around to face out from the left wall and thus have the space to fit in another corner counter (answer: “not really”), I ended up rearranging a few things to fit the tea set in. To whit, the tea set is now where the pet treats were; the pet treats are now where the fruit bowl was on the small end counter; the fruit bowl is where the VIP ice bucket was on the side table with the candy jar and picnic basket; and the VIP bucket ended up outside on an end table by the back porch couch. Felt like the best place for it! (Oh, and I put the spare wedding pedestal out by the fence post that separates the chicken coop from the cow pen – with the flowers recolored yellow, of course!)
D) Victor and Alice’s bedroom now has an extra small print of the three of them between the two smaller shots of Victor and Alice’s kiss after the vow renewal and Victor and Smiler’s kiss after the wedding – I also updated the frames of the two kisses to match their respective wedding certificate’s frame (light wood for Valice, dark wood for Van Alton), while the trio shot is framed in silver.
E) Smiler also has a couple of small shots in their room – a shot of them and Victor posing post-wedding in front of the white backdrop on the wall between their two front windows, framed in blue; and another trio shot on their desk, framed in yellow. I ended up rearranging their desk to make this happen (moving their old uni acceptance letter to their video creation station, and their little black chatterbot to the computer desk), and ended up putting their snowglobe outside on the luggage shelves – which inspired me to put the snowglobe in Victor and Alice’s desk on those same shelves. So now that’s looking like a proper collection now!
F) Over in Smiler’s “party barn” loft, I ended up moving a couple of posters over the ottomans by the karaoke machine closer to said machine so I could fit in the large-print shots of Victor and Alice’s and Victor and Smiler’s kisses, paired with a couple of smaller shots of the vow renewal and the wedding respectively (well, sort of – one of Victor and Smiler’s shots is another “backdrop” picture, as I didn’t have two good pictures of their actual ceremony). Victor and Alice’s stuff is framed in blue and red, while Smiler and Victor’s stuff is in yellow and black, natch.
G) And finally, up in the attic chill-out space, I discovered that I could fit all four of the Plumbite Pier date pictures (the actual shots of the rides plus the two photo booth pictures) on the side table near the latter if I put the bigger shots on the outside – this freed up some wall space above said table for me to put one last trio shot, framed in white. I also moved a bunch of pictures I had of them at festivals and some selfies of them on the Granite Falls vacation over behind the bubble blower, making a nice sort of grid there. . .though I’m think I’m gonna have to update it at some point, because the Granite Falls selfies are all selfies WITH one another (Alice and Smiler, Victor and Alice, Victor and Smiler), while the other shots from the Humor and Hijinks Festival and Geekcon are them taking pictures of each other, so it doesn’t feel balanced. Also I’m not really keen on the shots of them at the H&H Festival, because it doesn’t really show the FESTIVAL. Hmmm. . .something to ponder going forward!
Whew! Yeah, can you see why it took me a while? XD I probably included more wedding pictures in the house than I really needed to, but damn it, I spent a lot of time getting that wedding just right. Plus it’s just fun to personalize the house this way. :) (That being said, it’s probably about time I considered chucking a few of these photos in the cycling electronic picture frames that came with Moschino Stuff. . .)
Oh, and I ended up doing just a TINY bit of playing while getting all this sorted – namely, clearing out Victor’s inventory of spare food and flowers (because he’s always carrying around so much to bring to the store at any given time), and then spotting Bugs the garden bot sparking while it carried out its duties – and discovering it had zero durability left. I quickly had Alice run outside and turn it off (by some miracle it DIDN’T explode), and Smiler came and picked it up after a bubble bath to go repair it on the workbench while Victor and Alice did a bit of gardening themselves with Elmer. I left it with about fifteen minutes to go before 5 AM, when the garden should fruit again – we’ll pick up there tomorrow, with a quick harvest before someone hops on the computer or phone to plan the Sulani honeymoon! :)
Beanbags – We did indeed play three rounds today, since it was – well. It was hot and humid, but not so oppressively so that we couldn’t go outside. (Though Mom DID finally turn on the AC afterwards.) I had a terrible day, though, and Mom not much better, with Dad very thoroughly kicking our asses each game. Final scores were me 2-3-3; Dad W-W-W; Mom 3-2-2. *wince* Maybe tomorrow we’ll get to play again and I might do a little better!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – final night on the bike this week, with an extra-long workout to try and cover all of “I gave the house a huge upgrade! High School Years (Part 38)” by James Turner! (And even then I had to watch the last three minutes in between my shower and having supper). This was an episode of updates and plans, as indicated by the title –
A) First, Addison’s room got a makeover to better reflect their personality – a bit more industrial, a bit more grunge, a bit more gamer. James also gave them their own dedicated bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, and changed the former upstairs bathroom into a little sitting area/formal entrance to the parents’ bedroom, along with jazzing up the upstairs hallway a little.
B) Second, Addison themselves got a makeover with the help of their sister Breanne, who took them to the Bigwallet-owned thrift shop and used the chairs there to test out a few new looks. Major change was a new haircut, going from a mullet to a combination of loose long hair and tied-up longish hair (James was aware that the two hairstyles didn’t quite match when it came to length, but figured it would be okay), with a few new outfits (most notably some cooler cold weather wear). Breanne also got a few new everyday outfits to reflect her “fashionista” personality.
C) Third was some relationship upgrades for the teens – specifically, spamming people on Social Bunny with messages so they’d be their friends; traveling all over Copperdale to try and find other teens to befriend (nobody was at ThrifTea OR the Plumbite Pier); and finally visiting the Price household to try and get in closer with Forrest (for Breanne) and Hilary (for Addison). Breanne and Forrest had a decently nice chat, while Addison and Hilary had a slightly rough start but ended up having a VERY nice ride on the Cuddle Carts and their first kiss on the pier, awww. :) Good stuff!
D) Fourth was Kevin FINALLY progressing in his Lord of the Knits aspiration, making enough Excellent-quality items to get to the final tier, donating a ton of knitted items to charity, and then teaching Addison how to knit! Passing it along to the next generation!
E) And fifth were all the plans for the future – namely, James has already turned the Bigwallet Family Business Lot (the lot that started out as Lady’s art gallery and has since been turned into a nightclub AND a Selvadoradan museum) into a restaurant and is getting Reginald to earn the capital to buy it so he can turn it over to Addison to run! Because Addison, as of next episode, is going to drop out of high school and start learning how to become a chef with the “Dine Out Reloaded” mod. Meaning James is finally getting ready to start the spin-off LP of Addison becoming a restaurateur that I knew was coming! So that’s cool. :) Addison is also finally learning guitar, but I don’t know if that will come up in their restaurant-running adventures. XD
So yeah – next episode, Addison leaves high school and starts their own LP! Have to figure out how to juggle that with the end of the High School Years Rags To Riches Generational Epic here. . .
2. Continue writing “The Joker And The Queen”: Check – did this after YouTube as game night meant I got on a bit late (Clue tonight – didn’t win a single game of that either). Dr. Kelman ATTEMPTED to talk Miles into helping him try to subdue Smiler, Victor, Alice, and company, with Oblivion ready to dump him into the void if he succeeded. . .but as it turns out, they needn’t have worried, as Miles managed to trick Kelman into bringing him a copy of the book they worked on together – and then beat him to death with it, releasing years of pent-up rage. Everyone except Alice was a bit O.o, with Alice just being like “yeah, rage murder, I’ve seen it before.” XD At least this means they definitely don’t have to worry about Kelman anymore! Though there is still the matter of Nemesis. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – nice easy two-in, two-out today –
A) First up, another quick update from Josh Way with “Channel Update Follow-ups: Serial Riffs for Members, New Patreon short!” Basically just him thanking his viewers for their willingness to see him try new content (and for reminding him he has a Ko-Fi page) and that he might be doing stuff like movie reviews and talking about his love of physical media, and him letting channel members and Patreon members know that they’ve each got a new riff up (the next episode of a serial he’s been riffing for the channel members, and a bicycle safety short riff for the Patrons – that one he previewed at the end for us plebs XD). Nothing particularly special, but good to know he’s hitting the ground running I suppose!
B) And second up, another Happy Wheels episode from GrayStillPlays with “When you stop watching the kids for 1 minute!” This week, we had the traditional bottle throw, with Gray basically managing to cover the entire area between his “Gray will find a way” ledge and the “shoutout” ledge with bottles (and considering there was a GIANT PIT between them. . .); a “70% impossible” pogo jump that proved to be a bit trickier than Gray anticipated (it was the giant column of katanas that kept getting stuck up his ass that caused all the trouble); “Pogo Fight Tiny” where Pogo Guy had to fight tiny block people (including the Monopoly Man with a battle axe, and an Among Us creature that might have also been some sort of battle mech); “Breaking Wheels” where Gray played the hobo version of Walter White driving across the desert to meet up with Jesse to cook (and killing a family in the process); a “Color Switch” board in a helicopter where at certain points the background color changed and you could only pass through those walls that matched the color (took Gray a little bit to figure this one out, he’s not great with puzzles); a trip to the Void because of all the murder Gray’s done (Gray argued that he deserved clemency because he’s BEEN murdered a lot too); an “only GrayStillPlays can beat” board with Gray having to navigate his way through a spike fall, a combined bottle/harpoon run, and a bumpy-roadway-under-spikes section with a boost in the middle of it (Gray ALMOST found a way to skip the entire board, but the creator had thought to put a wall of spikes at the end); a ball fall that was rumored to be very deadly but was in fact pretty easy (completely clear channel by the wall – though Gray did have to do it twice as his guy died on the first attempt); a “neon” rope swing with what had to be one of the world’s trickiest rope transfers near the end (Gray spent SO LONG getting that just right – he finally won having managed to tear off all of his arms and legs); and “Rebellious Rugrats” by Dylan Snider, where Gray (in the form of Segway Nixon) had to survive a babysitting job for this one lady’s 115 kids (including not being smashed in the head by picture-swinging babies, not interfering in a tug-of-war, not getting in the way of the Trunchbull when she came to take one kid to the chokey, and not being buried at the last second). XD Good stuff, as always!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Kind of N/A at the moment – I’m good on Victor Luvs Alice, and there’s nothing much going on over on Valice Multiverse. I DID reblog my Valice Wedding Masterpost over there, at least? *shrug* We’ll see if anything happens before I hit the sheets. . .in the meantime, gonna try and get a head start on the next set of Chill Valicer Save pictures – need to update everyone on the status of the grocery store before we get to wedding times proper! :P
And that pretty much covers my day in full. :) Currently doing the social thing, so better get back to that. . .tomorrow, obviously we have the House Picture, but other than that, plans are to try and catch up on some OXBoxtra videos (including, if possible, the RE4 Remake LP video), play Sims 4 and start the Valicer Honeymoon in Sulani, write some more "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland," and hopefully do some tumblr catching up. We shall see how much actually gets accomplished! *nods* Night all!
