I Has New Sims!
Aug. 28th, 2010 11:41 pmI got Apartment Life today! I am officially caught up on expansion packs for the Sims 2!
-M: Nice! How is it?-
Interesting so far -- I've only poked around the hood that came with it. But that did include a family with sisters that could become witches, sooo. . . :D I turned the one who was friends with the good witch -- didn't get around to turning the other sister. I also visited an apartment lot, though the particular one I chose was actually a mobile home park. :p Interesting stuff.
Anyway, I look forward to fooling around with the new features afforded to me. However, I have to get my downloads in order first. My hacks, in particular, need updating. >.< I just got the Director's Cut from More Awesome Than You, but I have to figure out what I actually DON'T want and filter it out. (For example, JM Pescado, maker of the hacks, doesn't like the BFF feature (I just typed BTTF, lawls), but I do, so that's gotta go.)
-TD: Why bother to have those hacks at all?-
Because the people at EA/Maxis can be idiots sometimes and include pieces of code that will break your game. I spent a good amount of time patching all my games before playing, and the one for Free Time -- whooo boy. And there's still critical fixes to be had. Not to mention I have to make sure all my other stuff works. And download some others. ^^;
-RPD: Great Scott, what else could you have to download?
Someone made steampunk skins for the robot bench! :D
-RPD: Ooh, that explains a lot.-
Yeah. :D That'll be good for Eureka. And Inkwell Secundus.
-RPM: Ink-wha?-
Remember how I said I wanted to make Sims of the Inkwellers? I've decided to go ahead and make steampunk AUs of them. My game. So, Inkwell Secundus.
-RPD: Yes, I've been talking to them about that -- the only one who has any particular specific wants is Simon. He wants to be in the Adventurer career.-
Can do. Though I still need to figure out what ages I'm starting everyone at. Part of me wants to go simple and do little family units (Simon and Lucy standing in for Alice's parents, for example), and part of me wants to do proper families and start everyone off younger.
-D: Let me guess, you want to run that version of us through college again.-
I like Sim college! And you might actually do stuff besides study all day -- I'm thinking I'd get IS!Doc into the secret society.
-VD: What about the others? What do they start out as?-
Going by rough age groups -- Marty, Victor, and Alice as kids, Simon and Lucy as teenagers, Steve & Gary as adults. I'm admittedly not sure what to do about Dee yet. Make her as a kid with a stand-in parent and throw her into the adoption pool?
-RPD: That is what you did with the Eureka version of Marty. You could do it again.-
Yeah. I still have to have Doc adopt him. Need to get him on making a Servo.
-RPM: Hey, why did you never play your main families when you got Free Time installed?-
-M2: Yeah, you didn't even touch Twin Oaks Park.-
Simple -- I didn't want to have to deal with the new EP reset twice. Now that I've got Apartment Life, I'll start playing those families again. And hopefully get them doing actual stuff -- I'd started to run out of ideas there.
-OD: *tentacles* Maybe you should restrict updating to the important families. Yes, like the Von Brauns themselves and their closest friends.-
Yeah, I think I'll start doing that. And I'm gonna start moving on some things I've been neglecting, like Holly becoming a vampire (and I also have to make her a witch now). Same with Eureka. And of course there's the new minihood of Inkwell Secundus I'll be playing. That'll update in the Inkwell under its own tag.
-VuM: Wait, minihood?-
I've discovered that it's actually kind of silly to make an entire new neighborhood when you can get pretty much everything you want with just the downtown or (like in this case) the shopping district. I don't mind the inhabitants of Desiderata Valley (that's what it's attached to) comingling with my Sims. And it means less to plan out.
-RPD: *shrug* Whatever makes you happy.-
:) Of course, this is all in the future. Gotta get hacks sorted first. And get VictorSim made. There ain't gonna be an Inkwell without a Victor.
-DW: Don't forget to look up Portal stuff as well. Maybe you could get decorative turrets for Steve & Gary.-
LOL! Indeed!
